Too bad, They are actually great together in both. This explains why the Tigers kept bringing in additional people that were invariably worse than those two alone.

It's been pretty clear for years that Mario and Rod hate each other. They'd try to hide it, but you'd catch little glimpses here and there, jokes about never hanging out on road trips, little barbs disguised as banter... I'm surprised it took this long for them to really go at it.

Mario is the most obnoxious SOB ever.....  Sister Jean would want to punch him in the face if she had to deal with him daily.  In my opinion.

If I had to guess.... Rod said something and Mario tripped over his tongue correcting him, like he always does, and Rod had enough.

Don't call me Krissy..... you call me krissy one more time......

When I was growing up, it seemed that the local teams were blessed with outstanding local broadcasting teams.

Tigers had Ernie and Paul, and Al and George on TV. All were great in different ways.

Michigan had Ufer, and later Beckmann and Brandy. Top notch all.

Wings had Bruce and Sid, and a string of guys like Dave Strader and Ken and Mickey.

Piston had and have George who was born at age 85 and seemingly never ages.

Look at the shit show now.

Price is bad.

Allen is bad.

Gibby is bad.

Ken Kal and Paul Woods are barely tolerable sometimes.

Brandy got moved from a spot he was good at (color) to one he's terrible at (play by play).

You can try to do a Paul Woods impression, but it's nigh on impossible because that perfect cadence is so difficult to actually replicate in your speech even if you can hear it in your head.  But I always feel like Paul adds tremendous insight with the right amount of energy.

Ken Kal gave me tickets to a game he broadcast in the early 90’s.  He was the voice of a college team long before he was the play by play man for the wings.  He modeled his style after Bruce Martin.  He replaced Bruce because of that.

i loved his after game interviews w/Red after every game...

Not a Tigers fan (or even a big baseball fan) so I assumed that this was in reference to the earlier deleted thread.   It is only time before one of those types of threads escalates beyond words :).

This is unfortunate, as it will probably make things weird going forward. I like Rod and Mario, but Rod is really a bit comical. I’d rather keep Mario if we only get to keep one. I could listen to Dickerson announce anything and I like how he and Price call the games. Keep them together.

Gibby? The games are ROUGH when he calls most of the time, due to his monotonous delivery and his one word responses.

These guys are idiots.  All they have to do is:

1)  Announce some baseball games

2)  Don't punch each other in the face

3)  Collect their huge paychecks

I know they have been trying to replace Allen for years because Mario hates him, and I love Jack & Gibby as much as anyone, but man, neither of them has ever been very good.  I know Gibby is sick, and I'm not saying get rid of him or anything, but he wasn't good even before that.

I miss Josh Lewin, because, in addition to being good at his job, he would also slip in Simpsons references during the game that would utterly confuse Gibby.

Apparently at one point, Rod had Mario in a choke hold.

If that's the case, Rod's gotta go. If it were the other way around, and Mario was trying to choke Rod, then Mario would have to go.

Mario allegedly has a reputation for being a true professional, while Rod is regarded as a boob. That would not surprise me in the least.
