I am flush with anticipation.

01/09/2019 - 10:08am Well the Don Brown rumors…

Well the Don Brown rumors this off-season might convince him there very well could be an opening here in the near future.

01/09/2019 - 10:05am I know there was an upgrade…

I know there was an upgrade in either pay and/or responsibilities.  I don't think his leaving was seen as a lateral move.  He was promoted to co-defensive coordinator after a season there so obviously there was upward mobility that served his career well.

01/09/2019 - 10:02am I recall the reaction when…

I recall the reaction when he left was similar to Al Washington's departure.  Young coach and a good recruiter who no one wanted to see leave.  I can't imagine anyone would mind this hire.  Good recruiter with recent strong college ties plus the added bonus of some NFL exposure.

01/08/2019 - 2:07pm Obviously Webber is great…

Obviously Webber is great but if we are going down this rabbit hole we want someone who would fit the current offense, and while he could occasionally step outside and knock down a three that wasn't his game.  I'd probably go with Terry Mills as a post.

01/05/2019 - 3:39pm This thread started with the…

This thread started with the statement that Pep is on his way out, but you keep talking about him coming back.  He is not going to be fired, he is being given the chance to find employment elsewhere.  So we can worry about the offense continuing to look like crap if none of this plays out.  I'm not just repeating what UMBIG is hearing, I've heard a couple of reports that support the idea he is actively seeking other positions and placing the blame for the offensive failings on other coaches, mainly JH.

01/05/2019 - 11:42am Supposedly one of the main…

Supposedly one of the main offensive play-callers has voiced his displeasure with the passing game attack.  It may be spin as he is looking for a potential landing spot.

01/02/2019 - 11:51am And add in that WR's are…

And add in that WR's are dependent on the QB and share in their success whereas RB's tend to get the credit for their accomplishments.  RB's seem to try to share their success with the OL because the public tends to ignore them, despite how important they are to rushing success.  Also WR's don't have as many chances to make an impact so I think you tend to see the "look at me" response when they score more that with RB's or QB's who get those chances more frequently.

01/01/2019 - 3:40pm I thought about the…

I thought about the possibility of blacklisting players as well but as stated by other posters the NFL hasn't dinged guys for sitting out bowl games or parts of their season to date so what makes you think they would going forward?  The NCAA has the weak negotiating position in all of this.  The NFL's three year rule forces kids to play which is a win for both the NFL (more time to scout, less risk as opposed to drafting kids out of HS) and a win for the NCAA (profitable minor league system which benefits from built in alumni money pool).  The NFL can't do anything to force kids to actually "play" college football (teams colluding to drop kids in the draft would probably accomplish this), the three and done rule already goes too far.  And college teams have shown they have no recourse against players who choose not to play.  They have a very profitable product and they pay the player portion of their labor force pennies compared to the NFL.  In the real world what type of company would provide their employees compensation up front and not even balk when they refused to complete what was asked?  The only explanation is Universities understand that they are getting more from players than what the are paying for and will take a few hits from guys sitting out games to keep the status quo.

Don't forget the gerbil and rubber sheets.

12/23/2018 - 11:47am I thought the Simpson…

I thought the Simpson/Matthews interaction late in the second half was awkward.  I also think the subsequent alley oop pass to Simpson was a fuck you from Matthews.  Hopefully it's just a blip from two very competitive guys, Simpson should have called out Matthews for not giving the ball up on the prior break but it seemed like he wouldn't let it go and was still barking after the first free throw.  I'm confident Beilein can handle the egos and there's really nothing more to this

12/20/2018 - 3:41pm What a dickish thing to say…

What a dickish thing to say.  Any amount that anyone has donated here is awesome.  I'm sure a lot of people here have given to great caused this year and this season, anything done in this thread is a bonus.

Awesome gesture.  I'll match your $20 right now and raise you $20.  Let's keep this going.

12/07/2018 - 2:20pm Was just about to type the…

Was just about to type the same thing.  Didn't Seth or Brian promote this tongue-in-cheek where basically the one division was the old big ten?  2 Divisions with a conference championship?  That would basically be an 8 team playoff since the conference champion would be auto bids.

12/05/2018 - 7:42am Matthews with the ball in…

Matthews with the ball in his hand and the shot clock running down is terrifying, it's almost like he wants to take those shots all game but he finally has justification in those situations to jack up bad shots one-on-one.  Someone mentioned in another comment that the Simpson/Davis pick and roll needs help.  It reminds me of the Simpson/Teske pick and rolls last year and what a step down in was from having Mo out there to stretch the defense out to the three point line while still posing a threat to cut to the basket.  Teske has been awesome this year at so many things but if him and Simpson are 0-7 from behind the arch the offense is going to have issues.  All seven of those looks were wide open - if they can't hit 35% of them defenses will be happy to let them shoot it all game.  25% from 3 point range as a team is the difference between a nail-biter and a comfortable road win against a tournament team.

12/02/2018 - 6:49pm I agree.  The bowl games are…

I agree.  The bowl games are there to make money for the people who run them, but at least before the playoff they seemed important.  Now they are a weird side show that doesn't feel important to the fans or the players anymore.  The time off before the bowl game used to feel like the anticipation before the start of the season but it's pretty clear that if you aren't in the playoff the season is over.

12/02/2018 - 6:36pm This is my question.  I…

This is my question.  I understand 100% a player considering his future before his college team.  It sucks for the fans but I get it.  I've believed players should be compensated for at least 15 years, even writing a paper to that effect in college.  But I hope people realize meaningless bowl games are going to become meaningful bowl games/cfp games and eventually regular season games as well.  It'll take one superstar sitting out the championship game to shake up the whole system.

12/02/2018 - 6:25pm I agree they should be paid,…

I agree they should be paid, this is probably going to end up being the driving force behind it.  Players sitting out games, seasons etc and costing the NCAA revenue.  But I agree with this unpopular opionion.  At what point do games become meaningless?  If we are 4-7 going into OSU is that game now meaningless?  At some point to the player all the college games are much less important when they have an NFL career ahead of them.  So when is sitting out ok and when is it not ok?  Are all Rutgers games ok to sit out?   If it doesn't matter why play any starters at all in the bowl game?  Let the second team get practice reps.

It's gonna be a long, cold winter.  But at least he can't shit on the basketball team?

11/28/2018 - 4:45pm I try not to be be tooooo…

I try not to be be tooooo pessimistic, in fact I'm pretty much over Saturday - onward and upward right?  But I can't help but feel we've wasted the WR talent we've had over the last two years.  I get them not being ready as Freshman but there are plenty of wr's who make an impact their first year, especially when they are as athletically gifted as ours appear to be.  If we had a strength on offense this past year shouldn't it have been the passing game?  2017 the excuse was we didn't have a quarterback to throw them the ball.  This past year the excuse will be Patterson needed time to gel with them.  If DPJ leaves after next year I'm really hoping we don't see his career as being a failure due to the system and players around him.

11/19/2018 - 3:50pm It looks like his signing…

It looks like his signing bonus is structured as a yearly "retention bonus" so its not like the school could attempt to recoup a pro-rated portion of that - which would be unlikely even if he was paid a signing bonus if they ever wanted to hire another high profile coach again.  On the other hand the thought of Urban Meyer in shackles being forced to coach for another 5 years is glorious.

Go to a lice salon.  It's the best $200 you will ever spend.  Now every time there is an email from the school warning about a case of lice its like PTSD and our daughter knows the routine.  Mom and dad are going to stare at my scalp with the phone flashlights for 15 minutes while I watch TV.

Is this coin operated?  If I click on beveled guilt am I able to read more?

11/14/2018 - 9:25pm You see Johns at the end of…

You see Johns at the end of the game and he actually looks like a freshman.  Compare that with how confident and comfortable Brazdeikis looks out there.  Guy was in control of his game tonight, but as a Freshman my mind is blown.  Who was the last guy we had that polished and athletic that early?

11/12/2018 - 4:32pm If Alabama did install…

If Alabama did install certain offensive concepts from RR I'm sure they would still be executing them with their normal, run-of-the-mill 5 star talent.

11/12/2018 - 11:13am I agree with his take as…

I agree with his take as well.  I'd like to see Brohm stay even if that means them keeping Karlaftis.  The west is currently bad enough, it does nothing good for us to get even worse.

11/11/2018 - 8:12am It's not a medical redshirt…

It's not a medical redshirt.  He hasn't taken a reshirt year so can do so this year as long as he doesn't play in more than 4 games.  It is well within the  rules.

11/06/2018 - 7:03pm I don't think the people…

I don't think the people saying this sucks are referencing losing him as a player.  I think its more that Michigan is having a great season and obviously guys are unhappy enough with their situation that they want to leave.  That sucks, I'm not sure there is another word to describe it.

11/04/2018 - 7:36pm Maizen posted at least half…

Maizen posted at least half of these.

11/03/2018 - 10:04pm No one is giving Barkley…

No one is giving Barkley enough credit here.  The guy is almost as tough to defend in the NFL as a rookie running back.  How were college defenses going to do against him?

11/03/2018 - 7:25pm Zone read has opened the top…

Zone read has opened the top off the running game, it is fucking beautiful to watch.  TD pass to Gentry was a legit RPO?   I haven't seen a replay yet but I thought there was a mesh point that sucked up the linebacker.

why must I feel like that, why must I chase the cat?

10/31/2018 - 1:07pm They must answer for…

They must answer for eclipsing 100 yards rushing and passing last year.

10/30/2018 - 8:21pm A loss to a team that we are…

A loss to a team that we are a 10.5 point favorite against, at home, will most definitely be a disappointment.

10/25/2018 - 11:21am I'll trade momentum for the…

I'll trade momentum for the chance to get Black, Gary, and Evans back and healthy for Penn State.

10/17/2018 - 9:30pm I didn't see the hold…

I didn't see the hold against maryland inithe UFR  but after these two plays I'm inclined to agree that it was there.  Great move by Watson no doubt but it's still against the rules.  You can't grab an offensive player to prevent him from getting by you or to improve your position .  And J's argument is you can hold as long as it's within 5 yards, that's not true.

10/17/2018 - 9:25pm So the raiders passed on him…

So the raiders passed on him four times.  I'm not giving them a high five for getting it right eventually.

10/17/2018 - 8:30pm You are allowed contact…

You are allowed contact within 5 yards but you still aren't allowed to hold or grab a player to prevent them from getting open.  Defensive holding is called (rarely) on lineman and it always occurs within 5 yards of the l.o.s.  My understanding of the rule is you are only allowed to grab or hold as a densive player once a pass has been completed or a runner has crossed the line, when attempting to disengage from blocks.  By your definition of the rule a defender could tackle a receiver before a pass is thrown as long as the contact occurs within 5 yards.

10/17/2018 - 6:25am That or get off 96 in either…

That or get off 96 in either Williamston or Webberville.  Straight shot down Grand River and It really isn't more than a few minutes longer when there is no traffic.  There is a shuttke run out if Hannah Plaza by Pizza House I believe.  It is free and drops off right by the stadium.  A few other places run shuttles but the Roadhouse one charges $5 I think.

This x 1,000,000

10/11/2018 - 7:18pm And he doesn't have time to…

And he doesn't have time to diagnose that during the play because he makes the move before the receiver at the top enters his break.  So he either knew that route from film or just made a fortunate decision.

10/11/2018 - 7:16pm What I really want to know…

What I really want to know is if watson knew the pick was coming from the receiver running the crossing route from the top of the screen.  If he did bravo for stepping inside cause he's toast if he stays on the outside hip.

10/01/2018 - 9:08pm Brian has been lamenting…

Brian has been lamenting about Gary not starting with his speed rush and then going to a power rush.  I've been wondering if he is shying away from that forceful contact with arms fully extended because of the injury.  If it's limiting his pass rush moves it would go a long way to explaining why he's been somewhat underwhelming this year.

09/30/2018 - 6:02pm Diagonal blue is most likely…

Diagonal blue is most likely the poster formerly known as Maizen.  He is a dick who passive-agressively trashes recruits in their hello posts.  This site is a worse off for his presence.

09/19/2018 - 8:43am He's just mad he spent…

He's just mad he created and spent an entire thread railing on DPJ and then of course he has himself a game.  Then he spent an entire thread telling everyone how Dax Hill was going to Alabama and Sam Webb was full of shit for even suggesting Michigan had a legitimate shot at getting him.   I think we can expect everything he posts to be dumb and/or factually incorrect from this point on.

09/17/2018 - 7:47pm $7.50 for the collector cup…

$7.50 for the collector cup.  Of water.  Insanity.

09/17/2018 - 3:25pm I too only make it to one…

I too only make it to one game a year, and this was the game because I have kids and really don't want to drop $150 a ticket for them to lose interest by halftime.  Being back in A2, the walk to the stadium, the pregame - thats what it is all about.  But this game fucking sucked.   We left after the third quarter because it was unbearable sitting there roasting while time out after time out and commercial after commercial stopped play.  The most unenjoyable live sporting experience of my life.  Maybe next year I'll do all the stuff I love and go watch the game at a bar.  It's sad for me that the game itself is ruining the game day experience.

09/12/2018 - 10:26am Pizza Bob's is great.  We…

Pizza Bob's is great.  We always do the Brown Jug prior to games because parking is easier that side of town and the walk is still only about a mile.  Plus you get the added bonus of walking through frat row and seeing a ton of super drunk college students - always a nice trip down memory lane.  Dominick's is another good spot right by the business college, again parking near there is easy and its a quick walk up to state street from there.

09/06/2018 - 3:57pm I'm guessing by the number…

I'm guessing by the number of comments in this thread you are in the minority.  This post is 1000x better than another one about our left tackle situation.

09/04/2018 - 11:35am I just commented below…

I just commented below before reading this but lack of urgency in the 4th quarter combined with questionable use of time outs in previous games (end of half, end of games) are not single game errors.  I would laugh at another team's coach if they consistently botched these things on a regular basis.

I give the staff a pass on the QB situation the last three years - they made the best of what they had.  The oline issues should have been addressed by now, with 3 star recruits if no one else was willing to commit.  If you don't even have a plausible option right now at tackle it is 100% a recruiting failure.
