without seeing specifics this is different than what he normally does. I thought he would for sure sign a one year deal wherever he went
That was just what he did for Cleveland because he didn't trust Gilbert (for good reason).
CP3 and LeBron changed a rule in the new CBA when they were involved in the negotiations with exactly this contract and this year in mind.
The fourth year is a player option.
i read recently that his kids were already registered in an LA school. It was just a matter of time until we learned “how much?”
I think that one was debunked (unless it has since been de-debunked) but yeah he bought two houses in Brentwood for $44 mil so this has seemed pretty inevitable.
It's a good place for his companies, too, especially on the production side.
I would assume they/he is pretty confident they are getting Kawhi.
Lonzo Ball, Luol Deng, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez, MO WAGNER
Ingram and Kuzma are decent players, but man are they at least two good players away from making it out of the second round.
Assuming they get George and Kwahi, all three of their star players are SF / Wing types.
I guess Lebron plays the 4, with George at the 3 and Kwahi at the 2. Will be interesting to see how that shakes out.
George re-signed with OKC
Er, George re-signed with OKC a day ago.
George is staying in OKC, though my guess is that didn't affect LeBron's mind either way.
I do wonder if this means someone like Cousins or Howard will be signing with the Lakers as well. The more I look at Kwahi, the more I'm worried he have some lingering medical issues and wouldn't want to mortgage a decent core in LA for it.
Thanks guys, I missed that news.
I think Laker fans had enough of D. Howard already, doubt he returns to the purple and gold.
San Antonio will want a lot for him. He's locked up for 2 more years.
*1 more year
He can have lonzo and lavar with limelo and the other brother as compensation.
What’s the over/under on how long it takes before wants to wring Lavar Ball’s pin head.
Nah, I think he plays the long game this time. Has Magic wait until next offseason to get Klay Kawhi or Jimmy Butler. No sense in trading your depth for a guy who wants to be there next summer.
Half the players you just listed would be traded if they were to get Kawhi
By waiting a year, they just sign Kahwhi as a FA. Keep everybody. Good contracts, young guys with another year to develop. They could win by year 2 of the contract. They will win in year 3.
If they get Kwahi, that means Ingram and Kuz are gone because they will be included in the trade.
Not surprised. #BBB
Big baby Bron joins Big Baller Brand
At least he won't have to worry about losing in the finals anymore
Yeah, he gets the chance to go 0-8 vs Golden State instead of just 0-6.
Well that certainly changes things. You might as well make the Eastern Conference into a minor league.
Boston has a clear path to the finals now
Yep, Celtics vs Warriors next June
Yep. I guess this gives Philly a slightly better chance because they'd only have to beat Boston instead of Boston + LeBron, but yeah, this feels like the Celtics' conference for the next 3-4 years. Of course, they'll probably just lose in the Finals every year, but it's better than nothing.
With good coaching and a healthy Kyrie and Gordon Haywood, they would have a shot at winning in the Finals against anyone.
emphasis on a “shot” to win.
Absolutely. But they feel like the type of team that is going to be a step short as their young guys continue to mature. I actually think they'd be better off trying to get rid of Kyrie and rolling with the rest of the roster + Hayward, but that's probably not going to happen.
I agree. Rozier looked good in the postseason, and Tatum is the real deal. Even without Kyrie, if they had Hayward they would have made the finals and probably won at least one game.
Kyrie could get them a couple good pieces; preferably another stretch shooter. Rozier, Brown, Taytum, Hayward and Horford along with some strong pieces could give real test to GS
I enjoy that all of you think a guy who has made the All Star team once in his career can take the team over the top without Kyrie.
Kyrie is a fucking weirdo, but he's one of the most talented scorers I have ever seen. The Warriors had no answer for him, they could only hope that he missed.
A clear path to losing in the Finals.
Boston has a good team and Brad Stevens is a great coach. They’d still get swept by Golden State. Philly and Boston are playing for the right to lose in the Finals for the foreseeable future.
Lol Moe Wagner and Lebron are teammates.
Imagine saying that 2 years ago after Moe’s freshman year.
And it is very possible that Mo is in the starting lineup by the 2019-2020 season.
This made me laugh. Lebron to Wagner for the three!
I believe the quote from LeBron was, "I've decided to take my talents to LA to play with Mo."
I assume that means Leonard or Cousins will be coming along soon as well?
It's funny - the Lakers are probably a better team with LeBron than the Cavs, and he's making the move early enough that maybe a veteran or two will take the minimum to give it a go with him.
I wonder how many seasons he has left in him. He has played a LOT of basketball the last 12 or so years.
i will say that he is a physical freak - he may be able to keep his current level for 3 more years. Btw/ just imagine that guy playing TE in the NFL.
What will save his legs is if he can go to a team with a competent second scorer and a couple of defenders so that he can play 32-34-ish minutes a game instead of killing himself at 37/38 all year. The Lakers aren't loaded, but they have a decent number of young guys and, you hope, can pick up a defender or two (they already have KCP, and maybe they add Leonard). That's a pretty decent team and would help extend his career a bit more.
They signed KCP to a one year deal he's gone.
Quiet as kept...KCP May be the unsung hero in all of this. His contract opened up the door for Rich Paul and Kluth Sports to get to know Magic and Pelinka.
I stand corrected they just resigned him!
I think door was already wide open but it was a tribute to LeBron/Klutch.
What will save his legs is a first round exit in the playoffs.
Jamal Crawford perhaps?
Is he bringing his talents too?
Zzzzzzzzz...
Well, that makes the Eastern Conference a race between Boston, a few select teams, and then the rest of it is a shitpile basically, with my Pistons comfortably in the layer of said pile where organic matter is being turned into fertile soil....for others to use.
This weakens Cleveland so maybe the Pistons actually make the playoffs this season
It was a fun ride, he got me a title, he can do whatever he wants.
I'm just glad I don't have to deal with this shit anymore (the speculation and constant drama, obviously the finals runs were fun).
Stop it! He single handedly put that town on the map. Not a Bron fan, but Cleveland sports fans can’t act like him leaving is a good thing. Congrats on being mediocre for the next 10 years.
