Michigan Movie Night 2018: Black Panther
Obligatory.....
This is not apropo. They do not sell popped maize at movie nights. Unpopped kernels get in the field turf and just sit there, birds dont eat them and they don't disintegrate in a timely manner. Hotdogs, pretzels, candy are all for sale.
Also my vote finally counts--all previous campaigns I backed the loser.
Have you seen Scanner Darkly?
I would certainly be in on this if I was in MI. Im sure its a cool experience.
This movie and all of the others that were up for vote, were not something my family and I were interested in seeing. It’s a cool idea, I just wish better movies were selected.
Looking for art house films?
Black Panther is a wildly popular movie, so now I'm rather curious as to what it is you wanted to be able to vote for.
What were the other options? I thought Black Panther was overrated - it has a 97 on Rotten Tomatoes, get a grip people, it's not better than The Dark Knight, or Thor Ragnarok...it's probably an 80-85, but 97??? sorry, I digress - but I still thought it was a good movie and really fun. Family friendly too, obviously, as they wouldn't show it at the stadium otherwise. Not sure what the complaint is here.
Just found the options and Black Panther and Moana were the only good movies on the list. At least an actually decent movie won the vote and not the new Star Wars, or God forbid, A Wrinkly in Time.
Wait, what? Black Panther (an Avengers movie designed for teenagers) and Moana (an animated movie built for young children) are not good enough family choices?
MMmmmmkaaayyy, methinks 'family' movie night should be a documentary about the ills of Beethoven's music? I mean, what is OP looking for??
If you don't think Goonies is good, you should probably just stop watching movies.
Lol people are so sensitive here. I say the choices weren’t good and everyone loses their minds. Calm down people, it’s my opinion and apparently the DR as well.
I looked at the choices. I just can't figure out what it is you're expecting to be able to watch if not a single one of those did it for you. The only things missing are musicals, religious movies, and the straight to video conspiracy crap. Oh, and the aforementioned art house films.
No, there were two very good and family-friendly movies on the list, and one of them one. There were movies that sucked, but not all of them and the winner didn't suck.
People just seem to be curious about what kind of movie you and your family would prefer to watch. A Wrinkle in Time. Black Panther. Back to the Future. Jurassic Park. Cars 3. Justice League. Moana. The Last Jedi. Honestly, the only type of movie missing from the list is The Eternal Lightness of Being or The Longest Day. Both of which they wouldn’t air for obvious reasons.
Isn’t RT just an evaluation of positive/negative reviews? 97% just means that it was a nearly universally loved movie. That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a better made movie than others. So I don’t think you can really deem that it’s overrated and cite RT as evidence. I didn’t see many calls for Black Panther to win all the Academy Awards or anything like that.
I thought it was decent. This type of movie generally gets graded on a very forgiving curve(up against cinematic atrocities like Ghostbusters(2016) and the Last Jedi) but I felt it stood on its own pretty well. Infinity War would've probably got me out of the house again. Even Solo. Black Panther is a maybe.
I'm sorry but Thor does not belong in a comedy. Ragnarok was not as good as Black Panther. They may as well officially make Thor a Guardian of the Galaxy.
He was hoping for The Goonies.
Colin Cowherd Does Dallas would be more your speed. Yeah baby!
That was funny!! I love the Herd man.
I hear he gives really great life advice, or something..
Thoughts and prayers with you at this difficult time
They've screened The Lego Movie, Remember the Titans, Beauty and the Beast and I can't remember the one that was rained out. Seems like a wide range of "family" movies to this non -movie going sport's fan.
Let me guess you wanted some Steve Seagal movie with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and Harbaugh flying around on the giant eagle from Lord of The Rings as pre-movie entertainment.
The Harbaugh part sounds badass
"BRANDON PETERS!! Do not take me for some conjurer of trick plays!"
I’ll bet you are a fan of The Notebook and other terrible movies.
says someone who looks to Colin Cowherd for "advice" and "takes on life".
Well..... part of the problem is there just hasn’t been many good movies come out lately, but Isle of Dogs, 15:17 to Paris, I Can Only Imagine would all have been better than what was on the list. I would have settled for Married with Children or Sanford and Son reruns to be honest.
15:17 to Paris was widely disliked. It did pretty bad at the box office. And isn’t a “family friendly” movie. And I Can Only Imagine is a religious movie, which they’d never pick for obvious reasons. Isle of Dogs could’ve been chosen, but Wes Anderson movies aren’t for everyone.
I don’t think you’ll ever like the movies at these kinds of events if the movies you chose are indicative of your personal preference.
15:17 is pg13 and very good for families to watch. Not sure why a religious movie that tells the story of father and son wouldn’t be on the list, but hey I must be weird.
I highly doubt that very many kids would enjoy sitting through 15:17. Black Panther and Jurassic Park are much more family friendly and have way more mass appeal (which is kind of the fucking point of these movie nights). And if you have to have it explained to you why they wouldn’t choose a religious movie, you’re not in this discussion in good faith.
Lol wut

Quick question for those who have gone...I know the on-field seats are for season ticket holders. If I get a friend to register those tickets for me, can I (non-ticket holding family) use them to watch from the field?
Yes ...season ticket holders regularly print at home as many as they can and give them to family, friends, neighbors, etc. No chairs (chair backs) allowed so most of your veteran (blue haired) ticket holders don’t attend. Younger crowd on blankets and they arrive early to stake out good spots that aren’t in the new blue end zones.
The man who killed Hitler and then the Bigfoot. Can't wait. Sam Elliott.......if I had taken time to learn new site I would definitely post a Roadhouse gif. Please someone.
Roadhouse, you say? https://youtu.be/lGYEX34fvzs
OK, seriously, how do you embed a video anymore? Can you? I don't see any on the board anymore...
It's super inconvenient. You have to Click on the "Source" button. Then add in:
<oembed>URL</oembed> where you paste in the address of the video for the URL.
Then, click Source again. You'll see an error message, but it will still post. Yeah 3.0!
