2 days in a row!!
January 27th, 2014 at 6:58 PM ^
Michigan daily is reporting it:
http://www.michigandaily.com/blog/wire/university-may-cancel-classes-du…
http://www.michigandaily.com/article/university-cancels-classes-due-sev…
As of right now, the first link title says may but the story says cancels. The second was up before it's doing an 'access denied' so they may have prematurely reported that classes were cancelled even though they haven't been yet.
The Daily needs to get their act together.

Tomorrow I go 8-4, so I'd be a huge fan of this.
EDIT: It's official, prepare the posbangs!

disappears with age and children. Day #7 this year of "snow" days. yay.
January 27th, 2014 at 8:05 PM ^
It's lost a lot of luster for my kids since they have to sit in my office on snow days when we can't find anyone to watch them - like a few weeks ago and tomorrow.
January 28th, 2014 at 8:32 AM ^
Thats awsome that you can bring your kids to work.
January 28th, 2014 at 12:04 PM ^
More offices should allow it. Stuff happens and sometimes you can't always have a sitter available.

Wow this would be awesome if I was still going there

WE CAN HAVE POST-BANG
January 27th, 2014 at 7:05 PM ^
...gimme a posbang for 2 consecutive Wisconsin school days off due to the brutal cold! My kids are lovin' it...except in June when 2 additional school days may be added on.
January 27th, 2014 at 7:06 PM ^
They've cancelled a full day in 35 years(or so I'm told).
January 27th, 2014 at 7:12 PM ^
It's the first time classes have cancelled due to weather since 1978. The only other time class has been cancelled was in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
January 27th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
I was a freshman in the dorm and I hauled all my 8:00 drawing class crap across the campus in blizzard conditions only to find classes had been cancelled. But, it wasn't a total loss. Our dorm hall played a game of tackle football in the middle of Palmer Field. Lots of fun.

Chuck Norris does not get cold. The cold gets Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris roundhoused Canada and caused the polar vortex.
January 27th, 2014 at 7:12 PM ^
I didn't know this was possible...you know, with the wives tale that UM never canceled classes for snow and all
January 28th, 2014 at 12:31 AM ^
It's the first one since 1978!
However, I don't think a snow day means I can skip going to work at the medical center. Boo.
January 27th, 2014 at 7:13 PM ^
LET'S GO NO 8:30 TOMORROW TURN UP
January 27th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
It's colder than Yeti nuts out there.

In my time at Michigan, they delayed the start of a semester only once ("cancel" was not used), and it had to snow about 18 inches for it to happen even then. Strangely, the snow was not so much the problem (it was the day after New Year's in 1998), but the trouble that many students had in getting back to Ann Arbor that caused the delay.
Sixteen years later, I am waiting for work to cancel. Sadly, as I work for a utility, the chances of this happening are negligible.

Cool story bro:
So far my senior year of HS has had SEVEN snow/cold days so far. 4 in a row at one point, and then now three straight. All of them have been in the calendar year of 2014.
Plus, I already have called myself in for national signing day, the B1G Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.
Senior perks.
