I can't. I just... I can't. Thank you, Northwestern, for being Northwestern.

Consider this an open thread to celebrate(!) a victory(!!) featuring multiple touchdowns!!!

(Shhhhhhh, don't ruin it by mentioning the multiple overtimes part.)

You read MLive while watching the game? I don't even...

I usually can't even read this place, and that's before it started going to hell lately. Just wow. How can you do it? Do you hate yourself?

I'm on MLive for the live blog, they let me post there and this liveblog doesn't, so I enjoy being able to interact online for away games in between watching the game/running around the house.  There are advantages and disadvantages both ways, but I give MLive an edge for broader participation, here you have to be a "trusted user' which gives you the right to say F@*!  348 times in a row.

NW's record is terrible, but they're not a bad team.  They deserve to go to a bowl.  They have literally been a play away from winning their last two games, and they lost in overtime the week before that.  And of course, they took Ohio down to the wire.

I'm thankful that Northwestern is Northwestern.

All season long, I've complained that our opponents never seem to have bounces and bad luck go against them.  For the most part, it never happens.  And then tonight happened.  6 sure interceptions dropped, 3 of which would have been pick sixes, the last one would have wrapped the game up.  A Funches fumble that would have ended the game that he somehow recovered.  Two converted 4th downs in the final minute when we hadn't converted a 3rd down all evening.  And a bizarre 1st down for NU that got reviewed and ended up being a yard short.

Again.  Thank you, Northwestern.  I'm happy and relieved for a win but I'm sure I'll be pulling my hair out again next week.

I want to see more of Deveon Smith. He looked good. Green did too, obviously. I want to see more of those guys, less of Fitz, which is hard for me to accept because I feel for the guy.

...it's a win, I suppose, so that's good. As Hoke would say, "it's good to win a football game."

It feels sort of akin to coming in second in a race, but they give you the winner's medal anyway.

Weird. That's what Michigan football has been all year.

I think the entire offense has mirrored Devin's slowly eroding self-confidence as the year has progressed (or, perhaps more appropriately, digressed).  Perhaps the OT win will help him get a litte hitch in his giddyup.

OT - why do so many use the word "digress" (to go off topic) to refer to UM getting worse or not improving when the proper word is "regress" (to go backward)?  Sorry for digressing; my posting ability seems to have regressed a bit.

Like the PSU game, a few plays (4 vs. PSU), if they had gone the other way, would have ensured a loss today. The 59 pick sixes only avoided because obviously Pat Fitz sold his soul, the 4th down conversions, etc., the SLIDE OF GOD field goal...well, luck went our way today.

Doesn't mean we're any good, but let's at least enjoy the moment.

Some of you need a lesson in happiness. It seems so many just don't want to be let down so much that they refuse to enjoy the fun parts of being a fan! Fear or whatever it is that fills you with so much bitterness is pathetic!

Well a reaction is one thing, a joke or sarcastic comment is another. But when an entire group of followers begin to feed of each other it is pathetic. Every single post on this forum you have a group of people who feel the need to continually fill the board with negativity. Everyone isn't blind they see the issues. There is a time and place for it and a time to just shut up and enjoy a win!

of these boys. They fought a fight and never gave up. they fought themselves they fought their coaches and they fought all of you Jack wagons that hate them so much Take it for what it is :A great victory when you think about the circumstances surrounding the game. when you think about who we played and how poorly we have played against Akron, Connecticut, et al, this is a bellwether game. And an away game at thst. That field goal at the end of regulation was a thing of beauty. you have to respect the coordination that took and the players were ready to do it and they did it. enough of the losers. Enough of you people always picking out the negative. Look for the gems in the dust pile and you might find a shred of happiness. GO BLUE!! My ass sits in seat 6 section 19 Row 51 since 1969. No one quit. Respect that.

When Gallon caught that pass and was tackled inbounds, I was absolutely certain that Michigan had lost that game.

I could feel ennui settling over me.

I watched, bemused, as players scrambled into position.

"What is Dileo doing sliding around like that?"

"Are they going to attempt a field goal?"

"Holy crap, they got the snap off."

"You mean to tell me that was good?"

"Well I'll be damned -- Overtime!"

This team has some serious flaws but tonight they all deserve credit for not quitting and for coming through under incredible pressure.

In twelve seconds, I went from numb despair to caring about this team again.

Same here. Almost threw the remote at the TV until I stopped to watch all the players running around.

Then I saw a NW fan waving his hands "no good". Then I saw the refs stretching their hands towards the heavens... OT! She's Alive!

If you looked carefully in the top left of the screen when Gibbons kicked the tying field goal you could see the ghostly outlines of several beautiful brunette angels, looking down over him to keep him safe.

Quick game summary from my view:

Wile + Gibbons + Butt = MVPs

Dileo and Butt get runner up MVPs

Gardner is a Michigan man for sticking it out all day despite all the hits...again

Kudos to the young RBs for showing some stuff...feel bad for Fitz but...

Kudos to the O Line for doing a bit better

But frankly I saw nothing to save Borges' ass.

I noticed the AP/BTN Box Score for the game has some errors in the play-by-play statistics.  In the 1st OT after Michigan scores its first TD, the next 3 plays they list Terry Richardson as the QB for 3 passes with -26 yards and one rush for -2 yards advancing from the Michigan 35 to the Michigan 7.  Terry Richardson jersey # is 13, and i think that is same jersey # for Trevor Simian for NW.  I think they forgot to start the next drive for Northwestern until the middle of the drive.  NW still scored a touchdown and there was no turnover to explain this mess.  Nonetheless, the summary statistics show Terry Richardson with 3/3 passes for -26 yards and DeVeon Smith with 2 less yards as a results.  I know our offense is a mess, but we don't need any help from the game statistician.  Can someone forward this to NCAA/Big10 powers that be to correct these errors.

Was great to see a lot of the kids getting a lot of time today. Green and Smith especially.

And winning, fancy that. Winning feels great. Had major reservations about this game, especially when we can't run, they run the option and the weather.

On to Iowa!
