I can't. I just... I can't. Thank you, Northwestern, for being Northwestern.

Consider this an open thread to celebrate(!) a victory(!!) featuring multiple touchdowns!!!

(Shhhhhhh, don't ruin it by mentioning the multiple overtimes part.)

I'm sure if this was a higher stakes game, Fitz would have played.  But at this point, the season is pretty much lost, Fitz still can't block anyone, they hadn't rushed for positive yards in weeks, and we have two freshman backs that could use some game reps.  Since you can't do any worse, why not play them.

Personally, I'd make Fitz third string and run the freshman the rest of the season.  It'll be more beneficial for next season.

I mean, they aren't huge gaping holes, but there's been plenty of holes picture paged here where Fitz has opted to go elsewhere, or just been too hesitant to hit the hole, and that delay caused the hole to close.  He's had plenty of runs that could have gotten like 1-2 yards that he's turned into -1 or -4 yard runs.  The last two games, Green has looked like a better option at RB than what we've been used to seeing.

Green indeed has nimble feet and a quick burst for such a big dude, but I figure he'll get caught from behind quite a bit.  He just doesn't have big-time breakaway speed from what I can tell.  That said, I like how aggressively he hits the holes (amazing to see holes from this line!), and he seems to have solved that going-down-too-easy-on-first-contact problem we saw early on.  We won't need 80 yard TD runs if we can grind out 80 yard drives and continue to play good D consistently.

UM should've gotten a false start penalty ending the game. Very lucky. Refs were so shocked by the whole thing they didn't call it I guess. It was obvious and I'm sure they were looking right at the line too. Don't know why they didn't call it other than they didn't want to decide the game. We'll take it.
