Snowflake Thread: Coaching

I'm one to almost never complain about playcalling. I may not like it, but I will rarely go online and complain about it. This is one huge exception. That was some of the fucking worst offensive playcalling I've ever seen in OT. Holy shit Borges.

about the one flanker screen to Gallon that went for 10+ yards vs. Al's 47 attempts at running up the middle for less than 10 total yards.  Whatever his answer is, the only correct response is "You're a genius Al....."

Or ask, "Are you and Fred Funk using the same agent to look for another gig, or are you guys looking for jobs seperately?"

If any of those things listed by others didn't happen we would be bowl eligible. Not too many years ago that was a big achievement. Let's not forget the past. 

I will cancel my BTN subscription because this game will be played no less than 20 times a year for eternity as a "classic". Crap and double crap.

Dave Brandon takes a look at what's going on out on the field and stops worrying about fucking up jerseys and paying people to crop dust east Lansing. Michigan difference my ass.

We're gonna get trucked probably at Northwestern at MSU and at home for OSU. Not looking forward to that. 

This game really calls into question the ability of Hoke and Co to take the next step. Digging out of the Rodriguez crater is one thing but this team is moving backwards. Looks like a 7-5, 8-4 team at best and I could see them losing at Iowa. Hoke hasn't given me much confidence in his ability to lead this program to the heights myself and everyone on this board are after. Pretty abysmal all around and it doesn't look like it's getting better. Guy definitely doesn't deserve the ax just yet but if this is where the program is going to land under his leadership, I'm not interested.

PSU played to win and we just hung on to bullshit missed field goals.  PSU is NOT a good football team and time will show us that fact.  We were outcoached plain and simple.  I am so sick of hearing Hoke say that "we need to coach better".  Well fucking do it then!  We are not a good football team and we deserved to lose.  BTW, nice TD to end regulation.  What did it take, 23 seconds?  Borges has no clue how to guide an offense and I'm seriously starting to doubt Hoke.  #nothappy

Generally speaking, I love Hoke, but I would rather go down swinging than cowering in the corner hoping to cling to a victory.  Where is Herm Edwards?  YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!  The coaches deserved to lose that one; the players did not.  My patience level with Borges is about finished.

If you are afraid to let your players make plays, then step aside and let someone coach who will at least make an effort.  Accept that Gardner is what he is, and let him make plays.  Sometimes it will blow up in your face, but that appears to be the only way that we have a chance to move the ball, and at least then you are trying.   When Toussaint is rushing for .6 yards per carry, BEFORE your best OL goes out with an injury, maybe it is time to abandon the traditional running game.

With this gameplan, I will be shocked if we have ANY positive non-Gardner rushing yards againt MSU.  The Big Ten is not good, but we are just as bad as the rest of them.  Fuck you Borges for not even trying to score on miltiple drives.  That is the job of the offense, right? To at least TRY to score?  Fuck you for failing the players.

I think we're overlooking just how little talent this PSU team has.

Let him know how what we cares out ($ to Michigan) will be affected by the product on the field put out by Borges and Funk.  (Don't even think about the possibility of Hoke going anywhere.)  His email address is dabran (at) umich (dot) edu.  I just re-read my email exchange with him from 2010 when rumors on Hoke started to surface.  You'll be surprised -- you are likely to receive a response.

The saddest thing is that I KNEW we were going to lose when they chose to pooch punt instead of going for the kill.

After that I was just numb from all the missed opportunities. Hoke needs to apologize to Frank Clark for costing us what should have been a banner game for him.

This is the first time I've seriously doubted if Hoke can take UM to the next level. Saban, Meyer, etc all have one thing in common (aside from our loathing) - they go for the win every time.

Fuck.

This was the worst game of my life. I don't get why the fire Borges thread was deleted, he needs to go, him, and Funk. Even Brian tweeted about how bad Borges is. Why can't Michigan hire a guy like Cameron? I'd take so many coordinators over Borges, I'd take probably half of the Big Ten's offensive coordinators over him. Michigan's offense has been horrible under Borges, and he's ruining every QB's reputation. I highly doubt Gardner is as bad as being advertised. Borges is full of himself aswell. Borges hasn't been good since his EARLY years at Auburn. As long as Borges is calling the rest of the season, count on a few more losses. The guy is a waste of money and needs to be fired right away. I'd take Hecklinski and/or Jackson at OC over him. He better not, but I can see him blaming the game on the actual players. He wasn't fooling anyone with his calls. Borges sucks, fire him, end of story.

Is Les Miles on the plane to Ann Arbor yet?

I don't have a big problem with our last real drive of the 4th quarter overall . . . it did burn four minutes and forced PSU to use up all of its timeouts.  I think most of us were feeling pretty confident when Gardner scrambled for the first down inside their 30.

I didn't love our OT playcalling, but I could understand it from the perspective that we continually were in a position to win with a FG, and our kicker usually is really good.  I still can't believe we had three chances to end the game on a FG and missed all three.

The one thing that gets me though is the delay of game with 1:30 to go or whatever . . . how does that happen?  That cost us a FG attempt to ice the game.  Why not call a timeout there?

 

I said go for the field goal instead of the punt basically your jus tryin to save 15 yards by punting. In the 4th OT I said we needed a TD or we'd lose the game. Not saying it woulda been right but, I'd play for the W!

Maybe we can all chip in and buy an MGoHeadset for Hoke.
