OT: USC sacks Lane Kiffin
Breaking news: Lane Kiffin has been relieved of his duties as USC's head football coach per AD Pat Haden.
It had to be done. The decline was too much for an alleged historical program like USC.
Was always wary of the hire, especially when he had only been at Tennessee for one year with mediocre results.

Must have been created before he beat two top ten teams this season.

I would be very surprised if he got any serious head coaching offers.

I think a non-BCS school would take a shot at him just for the increased exposure and increased recruiting. I could see him ending up at a school like a Tulsa or Memphis or something

Tennessee perhaps?

As what, part of a reality TV show where we see if he can escape to the state boarder alive?

+1 would DvR again

He'll probably sit out 2014, but be back somewhere for the 2015 season. Dude is only 38 or so. Still plenty of time to learn from his mistakes and become a better coach. Could see him winding up somewhere like Illinois or some other low risk, low pressure place.

Probably believes he's the next saban so why not follow his path?

Is anyone listening to this foolish woman on ESPN?! She says that no one in the country wants the USC job, that the teams has no "players", that they'll have trouble recruiting. Is ESPN even listening to what is coming out of their presenters mouths?

but I stopped watching the World Wide Leader a few years ago. I can't stand anyone on that network with the exception of live sporting events and PTI (It's a guilty pleasure, I know... I enjoy the banter, Kornheiser cracks me up).
Since ABC bought ESPN, it has really gone to hell.

I'd like to think we have more pride than to be hoping and praying an MSU assistant coach leaves for another school. Yeah, he's a good DC but so what - Mattison is very good, too.
September 29th, 2013 at 5:15 PM ^
I would not mind if he found another job outside of East Lansing so MSU can resume being bad at football

Here is the brief official announcement from USC - LINK
"Haden informed Kiffin of his termination upon the team charter's arrival back in Los Angeles early Sunday morning following USC's 62-41 loss at Arizona State."
There will be a press conference this afternoon, it says, conducted by Pat Haden. I think there was a thread where a lot of us though that this would happen perhaps a third or a quarter of the way into the season. I am proud to say that MGoBlog more or less called it.
I believe that makes Kiffin 28-15 for his career at USC, which is pretty subpar as USC head coaching performances go...

Marc Trestman doesnt think Fitzgerald would leave even if the Bears do sack Lovie. He says they are probably going in a different direction.
But what does he know.

already fired Lovie. Why do people keep thinking Fitzgerald is EVER going to leave NW? Not happening.

Yes, Who Is Pat Fitzgerald is correct for $200.
For $400, the correct question is "Who is Kirby Smart?"
For $600, the correct question is "Who is Gary Patterson?"
For $800, the correct question is "Who is Chris Peterson?"
For $1,000, the correct question is "Who is an established coach who has a great situation that has zero incentive to leave the excellent situation they are in besides the perceived increased prestige of USC over their current school?"
