Hopefully this helps us with McQuay at least.

McQuay was always a player I thought Michigan had a pretty good chance at and laitly the stars seem to be aligning for us to snag him from the SEC....or maybe thats just my wishful thinking.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:41 PM ^
Yeah, snagging him from Vandy might be hard too. I hope he seriously considers UM though; we offer the best of both worlds.

James Franklin is a strong candidate to end up somewhere else, though. And I'm not sure if they have a music major
November 29th, 2012 at 11:24 PM ^
Apart from just being in Nashville, Vandy has a highly reputed music school.

Saving face.

So uhh Dad.. Uhh yeahhh.. I'm gonna have to let you go. Hope this doesn't make Christmas awkward.

Great minds, man.

Hang it up and enjoy retirement. The guy is around 80, why even go back to the NFL?
November 29th, 2012 at 9:33 PM ^
This will probably make for an awkward holiday dinner at the Kiffin house this year.

Oh well.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
I wish we had a few extra spots.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:43 PM ^
I don't think Monte Kiffen would do us much good
November 29th, 2012 at 9:54 PM ^
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
that little Lane doesn't?
November 29th, 2012 at 9:42 PM ^
So what will be Lane's excuse next year when they suck?
November 29th, 2012 at 10:25 PM ^
I can see him trying to accuse every coach in the PAC12 of cheating somehow.
November 29th, 2012 at 11:08 PM ^
Scholarship restrictions.
November 29th, 2012 at 9:44 PM ^
Dad, you're fired. Merry Christmas. Beaten to the punch I know, but it's still a funny sitch.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
Oh ya we totally have a great shot at McQuay, im sure he can't wait to play for borges!

I really hope that, if Chip Kelly decides to take a NFL job, he ends up in the same division as wherever Kiffin ends up.

is your a genius until everyone starts doing what you were doing, then someone finds an even better way to do what you were doing. Then someone figures out how to beat what you were doing in the first place. Then you are no longer a genius.
November 29th, 2012 at 10:27 PM ^
Monte's heart is deflated.

I wouldn't be surprised if we had availability for the 28 max, expecting possibly three 5th years departing, and some natural attrition, but I'd be surprised if we took more than 1 player at each of the 4 positions we're offering right now. Can't really see us taking 2 more RBs or OL, but it could work if we took 2 more WRs as long as one of them was JaQuay Williams who can play right away while the others redshirted. Maybe we could take 2 DBs if one was a true SS type (James Crawford) and the other was a FS/CB type (McQuay).

Before clicking this thread I thought you misspelled Lane.

I think the whole Kiffin clan is sort of gross. I bet their house smells like lettuce.

Awesome. That sounds like a lyric from The Clash!

Excellent. Slow down their recruiting for a bit.

No surprise here. Figured he resigned to avoid the inevitable awkward conversation of his firing with his younger boy.
USC had some real schematic flaws, i'll be curious to see what this move does for them. We all know what a difference the right D coordinator can make.
