Where's Ohio?
Oh wait... that's right... nevermind.
March 15th, 2012 at 10:26 AM ^
I actually heard some local radio guys say that if Ohio goes undefeated next year, they will make the NCAA look stupid for banning them from postseason. His reasoning was that they obviously wouldn't have the best 2 teams if Ohio was not in the NC. Buckeye homers still have no concept of what they did wrong or why they are being penalized.
March 15th, 2012 at 11:40 AM ^
I'm rooting for Ohio to go 12-1.
huh? They are only allowed to play 12 games..
Yep, I am hopin’ they end with only one loss also in 2012.
Of course, the one loss has to be their last game of the year!
March 15th, 2012 at 12:03 PM ^
Every Ohio fan I work with thinks that the NC is a gimme in 2013.
Na, it’s not a gimme!
We will have to replace Denard, and… oh, you didn’t mean gimme for us? /s

Michigan and Oregon in the Rose, Wisconsin playing in the Fiesta, LSU/USC in the title game.
WVU gets an at-large pick? Sparty Outback again. Nebraska to the Capital One, Iowa to the Gator.

Not sure if serious, but Ohio can't go to a bowl this year, due to the bowl ban.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:19 AM ^
I'm aware Ohio can't go to a bowl this year...it was sarcasm.
Ed: Upvoted you because people seem inclined to neg for whatever reason.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:29 AM ^
Yeah, that's what I kinda figured, but the placement of the comment in the subject made me less inclined to think it was a joke for whatever reason.
But I've definitely noticed that as of late people have gotten really neg-happy. I'm not sure whether or not its just me being negged a lot, or if it's a general board thing. But hey...
don't worry man, I'm sure it's just you.
... kidding! upvoted!
think alike, with the neg bang frenzy in full effect, i will do a preemptive strike and ask for a neg, this only happened once since i was a sideline spectator until i got satellite diploma in hand. ok neg away

Sparty won't go to a BCS game? What's next you're going to tell me the sun will come up tomorrow?
March 15th, 2012 at 12:11 AM ^
Love how there is no bowl game for Ohio. ND to the Military bowl? Nice. Sparty still no BCS bowl? I'll take it.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:13 AM ^
I honestly just went slowly through the list twice looking for Ohio on there before it finally dawned on me. Then I had a good laugh.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:22 AM ^
No bowl for Tennessee? Yeah, I'm not sure this guy is right
March 15th, 2012 at 12:33 AM ^
I wonder what other fanbases are saying to this, I would imagine there's a lot of hate from E.L., but what about ND?
March 15th, 2012 at 12:35 AM ^
appreciate the post, but we should do away with the 'sparty lol' ... I think perhaps it's better to go back to overlooking them than laughing at them at every chance. maybe like ... one out of every 3 or 4 chances is appropriate.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:39 AM ^
Dude, too early. I know its nice weather and all, but most people are too focused on MArch Madness.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:41 AM ^
Wisconsin making a BCS game next year seems a little far fetched. I like Purdue as the darkhorse to finish 2nd in the Leaders division and get killed in the B1G Championship game.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:58 AM ^
Well there's the rumor that that Maryland QB, O'Brien or whatever, has Wisconsin as his favored landing spot. It's not Russel Wilson, but it's another decent rent-a-senior for them
March 15th, 2012 at 12:54 AM ^
I think this is a tad over optimistic.
I'll settle for Sugar Bowl again ... (and let Spartans lose the BCG ... again)
While I disagree with your lack of optimism, I too would take a trip to the Sugar Bowl if only to take another trip to New Orleans.
To go to the Rose Bowl we need to win the conference, which I don't see that difficult taking into account that ohio won't be able to win it and MSU and Wisco both lose their QBs, I don't think we go undefeated but a potential loss to Alabama and whatever happens against ND doesn't affect the goal of winning the BIG
Well, we also have to take into account that most our big games are on the road and also the fact that we've lost a lot of great defensive players. I want Rose, hope for NC but realistically am not too sure.
DROB is going to light it up passing and running. Our D will improve through the season. Who knows, if we can play AL close or pull a big upset and beat ND and win the rest of our games...may be it will be an early BCS championship game.
But even if we lose 2 to 4 games, I hope we can win the Legends and then win the B1G championship game to be Rosebowl bound!
sparty has a better chance at a BCS bowl than Wisconsin. I think the Wisconsin ship has sailed. Their defense was pretty bad last year, their offense will be pretty bad this year. With all the coaching changes and people who graduated I find it hard to believe Wisconsin they go to a BCS bowl
Once again the Orange is deemed unwatchable
That Clemson v. Rutgers game is certain to be "must see" TV .... NOT!
I thought the Big (L)East was under scrutiny about keeping its BCS berth. Based on fan excitement ... they could probably hold that game at Pioneer.
Go Blue!
Why are they picking LSU over Alabama? I don't get it.
Also... Rose? Yes please.
It is going to be a bad year for the Big Ten. I would not be surprised if they only get one BCS team.
Rose Bowl- Michigan (v. Oregon- USC in title)- said we were Big Ten winner
Fiesta Bowl- Wisconsin (v. Rutgers)- put them as # 2
Note all Big Ten Ranks will be one higher than acutality with 2 teams in BCS
Capital One- Big Ten 2 - Nebraska (v. Georgia)
Outback- Big Ten 3- Michigan State (v. South Carolina)
Gator- Big Ten 4/5- Iowa (v. Florida)
Insight- Big Ten 4/5- Illinois (v. Oklahoma St)
Meineke- Big Ten 6- Penn State (v. Texas)
TickeCity- Big Ten 7- Purdue (v. Tulsa)
Little Caesares- Big Ten 8- Northwestern (v. Northern Illinois)
That's 9 teams:
Ohio State inelligible- so obviously they would mix up the order
Not Qualifying- Indiana & Minnesota
March 15th, 2012 at 12:30 PM ^
Since Ohio can't play this season, if the B1G does get another team in the BCS, that will put the number four team in the two slot, etc. It' would be nice to get two B1G teams in, but it might cost the conference a few victories in the lesser bowls due to uneven matchups.
March 15th, 2012 at 11:50 AM ^
I +1'd you just for mentioning no BCS for Sparty.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:55 PM ^
1) Rose Bowl seems pretty ambitious for UM next season. Possible, but ambitious.
2) WVU is going to get smacked around but good now that they will be playing in the Big 12. Oklahoma, Okie State and Texas are all better than WVU. TCU might be better, too. I will be SHOCKED if WVU finishes higher than 4th place in the new Big 12. Welcome to a real conference Mountaineers.
3) The Big East still gets a BCS berth?!? That has to change soon, doesn't it?
I don't think the Rose is all that ambitious. Basically that means beating Sparty and Nebraska and then Wisconsin in Indianapolis (as well as taking care of business against teams we have no business losing to at this point).
We have to take care of:
@ (likely) unranked Purdue
Illinois with a new coach
MSU (first or second most challenging B1G game, IMO)
@ Nebraska (third toughest B1G game)
@ Minnesota (lol)
Northwestern (solid, but definitely a game we should win)
Iowa (just like Northwestern, IMO)
@ Ohio (The Game)
In my opinion, we can drop one of these games without an issue, two if we beat Sparty, no chance we can lose three. From there we need to beat Wisconsin, which should roll through their weak division.
Rose Bowl is a very realistic expectation.
Nebraska will be rough on the road, but I'm not confident that Pelini has what it takes to make them elite.
Sparty at home, minus Cousins, Worthy, Baker, Cunningham and Martin. Our only big home game next year. I like our odds.
Ohio could be a loss, but we do have the benefit of their learning new systems and Miller not being surrounded by any talent beyond raw freshman talent.
I'm assuming that Wisconsin will make its way back to Indianapolis, likely riding on Ball's shoulders. He will be tough to stop, and likely have a 100+yd game no matter what, but the team is completely unproven at QB, so unless they land the O'Brien transfer, they are completely screwed in passing situations.
