Danny O'Brien still an option?

Submitted by Knappster on

With TomVH's cryptic comment yesterday in the ESPN chat, does anyone wonder if Danny O could be back in play?  Tom said that he couldnt really say much other than the person is committed to another school.  I don't think he was referring to Reeves, so who is it?  With all the shenanigans going on at Tennessee, I wouldnt mind seeing O'Brien back in the mix for UM.  And yeah, I know we have a ton of DL talent coming in, but we lost Pharoah who was at one time considered a DL/TE commit.

It's Gunner Kiel (QB, LSU), John Theus (OT, Georgia), Ifeadi Odenigbo (DE, Northwestern), or Cayleb Jones (WR, Texas).

This person wants to keep it a secret so I'll let you speculate which one of those 4 it is...

Ron Thompson. When we lost Brown we had a need at TE. He is a four star. There has been nothing said about him. He is local and could come to Ann Arbor pretty quickly and quietly

...he just pointed out that he's already committed, which is also true of the person in question.

I'm not saying it really is Thompson but that chat response is exactly what I would expect if it was. Or maybe if it wasn't, but then it might have included a "no".

Doc (TC, MI) Does the Ronald Darby decommit play into Michigan favor at all?
Tom VanHaaren (12:11 PM) I need to talk to him first, but I said this on our message board, I would imagine he already knows the schools he wants to visit. Something like this usually doesn't just pop up out of nowhere with no thought. I would bet that he has the schools he wants to consider already in his mind. Michigan might try to make a play, but he needs to be interested in them first.

J.J. Denman
4-star OT
6'6" 310 lbs

He is from Pennsylvania, but committed to Wisconsin because of their recent success getting offensive linemen to the NFL. Now that their entire offensive coaching staff is gone, he is looking around along with Kyle Dodson. Scout and Rivals have downgraded both Dodson and Denman to "soft verbals". He and Dodson might visit Ann Arbor together.

I think that someone should try to compile a list from this thread of canidates who have not been eliminated just so that we have a point of reference when the information becomes public. I realize that I am too lazy to do this myself and am ok with that self-realization.
