I'm not a lawyer (nor do I play one on tv), but since they've announced Nickelback as the half time act I think it's safe to assume that contracts have already been signed. I think that means feel free to sign whatever you wish but I doubt it will make any difference at all.
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
Have you seen most of the other Halftime performance that have gone on the last few years ....you all need to quit hating. NIckelback isnt that bad. I would take that over senior citizen rolling stones, or christina agularia any day...get real
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:31 PM ^
I would take the Rolling Stones over Nickleback, even if the Rolling Stones were blind, deaf, dumb, and mute. Nickelback is the worst thing to happen to music since...well since anything. You are right that most halftime shows suck, but that is because the NFL won't take anything controversial and won't bother to look for good bands that aren't listed on Top 50 shit bands and groups that America listens to. Nickelback is literally the least talented musical group ever (honorable mention going to Creed).
November 3rd, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
"This is how you remind me of how I really . . . want to kill myself after listening to Nickelback."
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
Of course a Pop Evil fan comes in here to rain on our parade
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:11 PM ^
dumbest thread ever
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
You used "your" instead of you're, you're from Ohio, and you would rather see Nickelback over the Rolling Stones. Your argument is invalid.
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Damn 504 errors.
November 3rd, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
Your double post=more productive than anything ohioblueblood has said.
November 3rd, 2011 at 1:57 PM ^
I'm not even a Detroit Lions fan and I am going to sign it.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
Should we begin a petition to have Nickeback replaced with PopEvil?
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
I remember when I had to suffer through Enrique Iglesias about 8-10 years back during halftime. I'll sign the petition in hope that others don't have to suffer as I once did.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
Look people, to get rid of Millen and get decent coaching we had to cut a deal with someone. You know who. This is the other half of the bargain. Suck it up and deal.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
I checked. If we move fast these guys are open that day....
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:11 PM ^
Sorry, but I have to curse at you. FFFFFFFFUUUUUU!!!!!
I posted yesterday in the other Nickelback-related thread that I forever hate all halftime shows because of the lingering bad taste that "Up with People" left in my mouth from their 80's Super Bowl appearance. Their message is so uplifting, their image is so squeaky clean...yet I despise them to unfathomable depths. And now you insist on further haunting my soul with their collective smiling visage. You are not on my holiday card list this year, Mgrowold.
(obviously /s)

this is awesome, well done.
BTW signed that shit
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
I have actually been to a Nickelback concert and they perform quite well IMO....
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
"Turrible."
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
Were you a Creed fan as well?.....
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
they are the worst band ever
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
Indeed, they embody the platonic essence of badness. If the Horror was the Nickelback of Michigan football games, then Nickelback is the Nickelback of bands.
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
I have to disagree with you - I think they're complete shit. Admittedly I think that about most contemporary acts.
But I admire that you'd own up to such taste before a hostile crowd. So have a "normal" with your flamebait.
November 3rd, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
When I was 12. I remember them throwing cups of beer into the crowd which was pretty cool.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
just bring rocks and throw them..
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:18 PM ^
I hated nickelback, got free tickets to a concert and they are fantastic live. Look their songs are catchy, sound very good. I know the lead singer sounds a little wierd, but that is their style. I care more about the game anyway, what do I care what music is playing while im waiting in line to piss.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:21 PM ^
the hate for Nickelback. Sure they are a horrible corporate rock 80's sounding garbage band but the radio is full of that crap. I was at the game when it was Jesse McCartney! Wasn't it Kid Rock last year? Is there a dime's worth of difference between Kid Rock and Nickelback?
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
stands out as particularly crappy even though they are surrounded by crap on the radio. Nobody has liked Nickelback in a least 5 years, and that is counting those that were Nickelback fans for a period of time.
And the Lions don't even play that much nickel, so it is even contrary to the on-field product.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:36 PM ^
I lol'ed at the "and the Lions don't even play that much nickel" line.
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Its not that orange that you can stand. Its that throw up orange, its not that orange you can sit with. Its that puke, inside of a pumpkin orange. And I don't like pumpkins.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Kid Rock is from the Detroit area!
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:55 PM ^
Kid rock is terrible. Maybe the worst. Disgusting.
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:08 PM ^
You can hate Kid Rock all you want, but the guy is genuine Detroit, and a lot of people (not myself included) can relate to his music.
I don't get why we are pissing and moaning about this anyway. Everyone has different musical tastes and Im sure they have a signed deal for this performance. Besides, if you don't like it, get off your ass and get a beer if youre at the game or some GD pumpkin pie if at home and come back in 10 minutes.
November 3rd, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
despite the fact that everyone does have different musical tastes, we can all agree that nickelback is horrible.
November 4th, 2011 at 10:34 AM ^
I can't agree because I don't think I've ever heard anything by them.
November 3rd, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
I would think people are pissed because they're paying for the Lions to hire Nickleback, and people obviously don't like their music. If enough people petition/email/call, then the Lions (like any profit seeking organization) won't book acts like Nickleback again.
It's not any different than people not shelling out cash for a Mel Gibson movie because they dislike him, other than Nickleback is the secondary product here.
November 4th, 2011 at 3:31 PM ^
You sir, are banned!
November 4th, 2011 at 10:54 AM ^
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
This is awesome
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
Too poppy and too much of the same sound. Same chords, same everyhting...
Should have hired the Beastie Boys...
November 3rd, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
Would have rawked
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
I don't know the band or their music. What's the controversy about?
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
You, sir, have led an enviable life.
November 3rd, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
imagine if the lions had used their #1 overall draft pick a couple years ago on nick sheriden. choosing nickelback to play the halftime show is an even worse decision. the epitomize everything that's wrong with popular music in that they have no talent or originality whatsoever. they actually have negative talent and originality. the use the exact same (admittedly catchy) horribly simple riffs and progressions ad nauseum. if you'd never touched a guitar in your life, i could have you playing their entire repertoire within a a day. and that is not a testament to my ability as a guitar player or teacher.
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Why would Detroit ban fellow countrymen?
November 3rd, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
Are you suggesting that Detroit secede from the union and join Canada?
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
She'd be awesome. . .
GO BLUE!
November 3rd, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
Go ahead and sign it and I hope they hire Milli Vanilli. It could be a lot worse. Then I will LMAO.
