02/22/2016 - 2:18pm hang in there !

I am the Dad of 2 kids born with genetic defects - mine have trisomy9.  When they were born in the early 80's, genetics wasn't even a recognized "science" then.  It was living hell trying to sort things out and get a baseline so we could deal with it.  So many advances a generation later.  You have a ton of professional help and support available now - make sure you use it all so that your boy can grow and develop to his max potential.  When my daughter was born we were told she wouldn't see her 5th birthday.  She turns 33 in March.  Good luck on your journey - parenthood will be different than what you conceptualized, but it will still be very fulfilling - I promise!

02/17/2016 - 12:43pm Perspective

I work at one of the big IT recruiting agencies here in Toronto.  This article wasn't directed at a mass business audience - it was directed at the internal staff recruiters inside larger companies.  Good message here for  those folks in terms of how to get the attention of top talent - and to keep their attention after you get it and then close the deal.

02/11/2016 - 9:22pm Shrug. . . .

Wow, lots of negative feedback for this post.  I didn't think it needed an OT designation given all the earlier posts about M's switch to being a Nike school, and the fact that BB and FB will be "Air" teams.  Returning to lurker status.

01/13/2016 - 2:24pm Sam Sheppard

Dr Sam's nephew was a fraternity brother of mine at Hanover College.  His wedding in Bay Village was really something.  Dr Sam's second wife was a stunner from Europe who was the complete package.   Dr Sam became a professional wrestler as his second career.

01/04/2016 - 12:32am From ESPN - no shit

In fact, Drew Henson, who played for Tomsula in Europe, said Tomsula compared favorably to Lloyd Carr, Joe Torre and Bill Parcells as a motivator.

11/26/2015 - 12:24pm Hosting Here!

Hosting 8 ex-pat Yanks + a few amazed locals for a real American Thanksgiving at my condo today.  Most of my Canadian buddies don't quite get the reasoning behind why we do it with so much "excess" compared to their Thanksgiving - but guaranteed they like it!

GO BLUE - Beat Ohio!

11/09/2015 - 1:58pm 18th Century Choral Music
Brian, you're psychic.  I am going to be in Montreal for Xmas and just today bought tickets for Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal holiday show of the Bach Cantatas.
09/14/2015 - 2:35pm purple jerseys

I am glad you posted this - I thought I was going color-blind on Saturday.  We get the ABC feed through Buffalo so I figured  the jereseys looking purple compared to the blue sleeves on their compression shirts was some kind of distortion on the tech transmission.  I didn't start drinking till about 5 so it wasn't the booze - the jerseys clearly had a purple hue to them on TV.  GO BLUE!

06/29/2015 - 3:47pm Federov got a big head

Drove a Lambourghini, got involved with that flashy tennis chick, and he supposedly really wanted to be the team captain but realized Yzerman wasn't giving that title up anytime soon.  So he jilted us for the flashy SoCal lifestyle with the Ducks - for the same $ that we offered him, supposedly.  That's what really stung, it wasn't about the money, he wanted to get out of town after all the Illitches did to get him out of Russia.  Just kind of bitch-slapped us and walked.

06/14/2015 - 11:57pm 3-star JH Developed…

Slide to the right - his comparable was David Cone.

Go Blue!

03/20/2015 - 1:51pm Custom Fit is Mandatory

Go to Carl's Golfland or Dick's and work with one of their guys to find the right fit and manufacturer for you.  It's free and worth the investment in time.

I'm a 13 handicap.  I play with Calloway irons and TaylorMade "RockeBallz" woods.  I find  the RB's incredibly easy to swing with.

03/03/2015 - 1:14pm Hurley

In Toronto our US channel feed is the Buffalo tv stations, so we get a lot of Bobby Hurley news since he's the head coach at UofB.   Every time I see his face I am reminded of those Dook teams in the early 90's and how much I disliked them.

02/25/2015 - 5:39pm Bama / Dallas

WORST:  Bama in Dallas.  Michigan fanz had one of the endzone plazas and Bama the other.  For some insane reason, two Bama fans were on the Michigan plaza.  The absolutely most obnoxious woman & man you would ever encounter.  We were outmatched from the kickoff and they made sure we knew it every second of the game.   It was absolute torture to keep your composure.  If I didn't have my son with me I would have done something I regretted.

BEST:  Under The Lights #1.  We were in Section 6 Row 30, which is great for viewing south endzone action.  The euphoria/despair/euphoria we all experienced in the last 5 minutes of the game resonated with me for weeks after.  To this day when I need a "pick-me-up" I watch the YouTube videos of that night.

02/18/2015 - 6:31pm Bumblebee Unis

Great piece Brian.  Kudos.  And damn, I almost forgot how much I HATED those bumblebee uniforms - never again please.

02/17/2015 - 7:21am IT Recruiter

I am an IT Recruiter in Toronto.  We have a pretty broad footprint doing everything from entry-level help desk folks to CIO's, and everything in-between.  We have placed Nik Stauskas' dad several times, for example.

I have a good AngularJS developer just finishing a contract and available March 01.  If you would consider a remote resource, he'd be a great option for you.  And the exchange rate these days makes him a bargain!

Also, I need a .NET Development Manager (team of 5) for a permanent fultime hire in Windsor if anyone is looking.

02/04/2015 - 5:56pm No LOI on this guy???

I see that has not confirmed receipt of his LOI and he's not on the "confirmed list".  Any reason to worry here?

01/22/2015 - 8:39am Kenny Rogers ??

Were you "outraged" when Kenny Rogers got caught cheating in the 2006 World Series Tigers fans?  Should the Tigers have been fined or had draft picks taken away?

01/20/2015 - 10:00pm non-milk cereal options

That's a Cali surfer thing.  Milk spoils quickly and does not store well in the back of a surfer van, so they often put orange juice on their Wheaties instead.  Try it sometime.  Not half bad.

01/15/2015 - 3:30pm Got One - and there is only one left

There were 2 left when I snagged mine.  They didn't have a Canadian shipping option so I had it sent to my son in Atlanta for safekeeping.  Do you think I'll ever see it ?? HaHaHa. . .

01/09/2015 - 3:16pm I have a source who has two

I have a source who has two extras in the Ross open seats.  I can only afford them one game!  He takes reservations in January so have to make my decision now.

01/09/2015 - 1:08pm Degree in Criminal Justice

Let's kick some ass.  GO BLUE!

12/03/2014 - 12:15am So It's OK??

I can blame the last 7 years of Michigan football on Mary Sue?

In all seriousness, my son and I both live a long way from Ann Arbor, and we go to one game a year together for a father-son bonding weekend.  BYU for UTL next season, or a road trip to  Salt Lake City to pay back Utah for beating us twice in the Big House?  Thoughts?

12/01/2014 - 7:14pm Help!

We do a mass donation to the local radio station "christmas wish" at my office.  I have to buy something for a 12-14 year old boy for $50.  My kids are 34 & 31 and I have no idea what kids in this age group want.  Suggestions?

09/18/2014 - 12:50pm AA golf

My son and I wrapped three rounds of golf around the Miami game last weeked - played Leslie Park once, and Moose Ridge twice.  Leslie Park is a real gem in our opinion.  LOL, can you imagine strolling into the UofM golf clubhouse and having Tom Brady wait on you?

09/13/2014 - 8:04pm really disappointing

I only see one game a year live & in-person.  Totally agree with Ace's assessment.  They were not dominating in any category and they did not play inspired in any category.  Lloyd ball.  This team will be lucky to win 7 games.  BTW, the new museum at Schembechler Hall is a must-see!

09/10/2014 - 9:39pm See You Saturday

My son and I are in from Atlata & Toronto, respectively.  Looking forward to rebounding from ND and getting the ship back on the right course.  GO BLUE!

08/24/2014 - 10:47pm Keep em Coming

Got lucky last-minute waitlist clearance for Inn at Michigan League for the Miami game.  So for the first time in 15 years we won't be tailgating on the golf course for gameday - we will be on campus overnight Friday and Saturday night and walking to the stadium for the game.  I need advice!

Is Frito Bandito's still the best grub in town?  Ashley's the best beer tap?  Dominick's?

07/02/2014 - 12:31am last year

I was at the opening game last season and watched Michigan roll 56-0.

Rest of the season didn't go so well.

Let's come out with a balanced attack and contiune to grow and evolve this season please.

06/19/2014 - 11:52am Club Seats available

For those who only go to one game a year, there is an opportunity on the MGoBlog Ticket page for 2 Club seats in the Jack Roth Stadium Club at a very reasonable price.  I picked them up for the Miami game, but several others available.

05/24/2014 - 11:11pm update

Lots of M fanz in CA - Nik is a hero up here - GO BLUE !!!

04/30/2014 - 2:01pm '88 NBA Finals

Remember the 1988 NBA Finals played in the Silverdome with a big black "baggy" cutting out about a third of one end.  Pistons lost Game 6 in the Forum by a point with Isiah Thomas playing with a broken wheel, then lost Game 7 by three in the Silverdome after being down by 15 with about 5 minutes left.  That was one of the Bad Boy's greatest moments!

02/02/2014 - 1:35pm kale smoothies & seafood stew

I put plenty of vanilla yogurt (Source 35 calories) in with the kale and it balances it out well.

I made a vat of seafood stew last night with homemade lobster broth from 12 lobster carcases frozen after Christmas Dinner.  It's loaded with scallops & shrimp, snapper, halibut, cod and salmon along with potatoes and leeks and a paprika seasoning mix.    We'll be chowing on that starting at kickoff along with sourdough bread & bevvies - white wine spritzers for the Michigan & Wings games, then switching to vodka for the SB.

01/02/2014 - 9:17pm names from the past

Dee Hart, HaHa Clinton-Dix. . . .

12/31/2013 - 8:11pm Ace/The Block

I voted for "The Block" because of Ace's post the next day, which really moved me.  I had gone to Atanta for the weekend but had to return home for work on Monday, so saw the final game on TV after being in the MIchigan Bar all day for the win over Syracuse in Atlanta on Saturday.  Not enough was mentioned about the Witchita fans in Atlanta, who were so gracious and fun and who all encouraged us to do what they couldn't do - beat Louisville.

12/11/2013 - 8:27am I thought. . .

he was back in Saginaw teaching HS and assistant-coaching their football team while he got his Masters at Flint.  So he was continuing to go to games because he still got student tickets.

12/08/2013 - 10:31pm 8th in B1G

C'mon guys, we finished 8th in a 12-team conference.  This is the bowl / matchup we earned with our 7-5 record that could have easilly been worse.  If PSU was bowl-eligible we wouldn't be going to this one.  Take a nap that afternoon, take the family out for pizza, then kick back after everyone's gone to bed and enjoy our last game till Labor Day Weekend 2014.

12/03/2013 - 10:59am road trip

My son and I have met in AA for a football weekend every season since 2002.  With the crappy home slate for 2014, we are thinking its time for a road trip to an away game.  Targeting ND for  the series finale or the first-ever visit to Rutgers.  Thoughts, anyone?

12/01/2013 - 9:20am testy

My Dad is a Michigan alum, my Mom is a Duke alum.  If we win, poor pops will be taking her out for dinner for a week, cause he won't be getting any home cooking!

11/28/2013 - 2:13pm beware

i bought 2 tix from a seller on the spreadsheet earlier this year.  when they arrived by mail, they were for a different section (worse) and much higher up than the tickets that were advertised.  as i am across the border in canada there wasn't much i could do about it.

not saying everyone there is a scammer, but i can confirm at least one person is.

11/23/2013 - 6:16pm player development

I was at the CMU game Labor Day weekend.  This team looked invincible and was full of swagger.  Ten games later, I can't believe what I see out there, the regression is mind-boggeling.  When you get a lead, then your challenge is to get a BIGGER lead, not lay down the entire second half and put up a net 45 yards and 0 points.  I am 999% behind our guys in winged helmets - but they need to be coached up.  And it's obvious that they are not being coached up.

11/23/2013 - 6:06pm Minny

Minny is ranked, we won that game didn't we?

11/19/2013 - 10:45pm Taco and Jake

I forget, did Taco and Jake Butt play on the same HS team?  Pickering something in suburban C-bus?

09/01/2013 - 9:12pm ChicagoLand

It's one word - there is no dash - I lived in Northbrook, IL for 5 years.

08/20/2013 - 1:57pm Nik Update

I do business here with Nik's dad and he told me that not only is Nik much more defined, but he's now developed a 360 dunk, a windmill dunk, and between the legs dunk along with adding 4-5 inches of vertical jump.  It's going to be a very scary season for the competition!

07/13/2013 - 7:09pm Cider!

4-pack of Growers 1927 Dry Premium Cider while I grill the Turkey Burgers after a great afternoon of golf where I emptied the wallets of several buddies today.  Then it's off to a houswarming party with a fifth of Absolute under my arm.  Jays win!

Enjoy the hell out of your weekend and GO BLUE!

06/17/2013 - 3:29pm connect with these guys on LI

04/08/2013 - 5:01pm Withey at Gibley's

Jeff Withey  spent several hours with us at Gibley's on Saturday, said a lot of nice things about the Wolverines.

04/08/2013 - 11:33am Gibney's Pub

I was in Atlanta for the weekend but had to fly back this morning for work.  The Michigan bar is Gibney's Pub which is on Peachtree Center Ave directly behind the Mariott Marquis.  It's bright red, very hard to miss.  Get yourself  there and stay put.

The festivities are at Olympic Park.  $7 beers and all kinds of food options - and there are some excellent food trucks parked in a semi-circle across the street from the park entrance where the t-shirt vendors are.  I had a grilled lamb hoagie at one of the trucks that was outstanding.

04/02/2013 - 10:53pm Ali agrees

There is a great quote from Ali along the lines of:  "In order to win you need both Will & Skill.  But Will is more important than Skill - Will beats Skill every time."

Beat Syracuse - GO BLUE!
