I do like the night games and the afternoon games. I don't like noon games all that much. If It is one of the few I get to go to each year, noon games just put an end to tailgating too quickly. Even if I am not at the games, noon games seem to always interfere with kids soccer, etc.

Why would you pull the trigger without even knowing for sure?
Also, I wish night games would become more common in Ann Arbor. Dave Brandon preferred to make them events, which is fine, but it doesn't need to be limited to one per year. It would be great to have a two or more and they don't have to be against better competition.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:06 PM ^
Michigan games are going to be awesome regardless
January 9th, 2015 at 2:38 PM ^
That isn't my point. The OP makes it sound like he only wants to go to a night game, but is deciding whether or not to pull the trigger. That is why I asked what I did.
January 9th, 2015 at 5:23 PM ^
Because if he pulls the trigger now he likely pays half of what he would once everyone knows. Big $ difference if he's paying for say 4-6 tickets
January 9th, 2015 at 1:16 PM ^
Well, everybody has their own tastes and preferences. I personally wish every single game was at noon.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:43 PM ^
I mean, I think we should play more noons games then we do, but 3:30 games, with the sun setting in the second half, that is when a whole lot of iconic Micihigan games have been played. I don't get the "every game should be at noon" crowd.
January 9th, 2015 at 2:41 PM ^
I don't either. 3:30 is the best overall time slot IMO. I like night games, don't get me wrong, but don't want every game played at night. I would hate waiting all day every Saturday for Michigan games to start. I like 3:30 because I can just chill a little bit during the noon slot, then watch my game, and then right when Michigan is done, it's time for the night game slot.
January 9th, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
OMG that would be awful. I cannot stand noon games. The only noon games I want are at East Lansing and Columbus.
January 9th, 2015 at 6:15 PM ^
Noon games have a very weak home field advantage unless it's against Ohio State or maybe Michigan State. The Big House is usually dead.
January 9th, 2015 at 10:43 PM ^
And it kills tailgating/pre-gaming too early, especially if you want to watch the band march up to the stadium.
January 9th, 2015 at 2:29 PM ^
I don't know where you live but for a lot of people the night games, while fun, can be a real pain in the ass when it comes to getting home after. My friend has a 3-hour drive to the games and when we have a night game, he has to decide if he wants to spend a ton on a hotel (and they often get booked up fast) or else get home in the middle of the night. I don't know if he'd want to keep his tickets if he had to do that multiple times a season.
One a year is enough to deal with that inconvenience while still keeping it special.

January 9th, 2015 at 3:21 PM ^
has been very resistent to them and has asked that there be no more than one night game a year. It wasn't just that Dave wanted to make big events, though that was a factor.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:02 PM ^
any of Oregon State, BYU or Northwestern. The previous regime also didn't seem to want to schedule Michigan State at night but I don't know if Hackett feels the same, although I assume he does.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:04 PM ^
I do not want that game at night.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:07 PM ^
I'm just pointing out that Hackett's position on the matter isn't known.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:44 PM ^
it would be fine at night in Ann Arbor. I could see it being ugly in East Lansing.
January 9th, 2015 at 6:17 PM ^
If Auburn and Alabama can have night games while avoiding major incidents, I'm pretty sure Michigan and Michigan State can do the same.
January 9th, 2015 at 10:45 PM ^
Seriously. We act like every single challenge in college football is unique to us.

5:30 in 2008, that was ugly enough.

Methinks the City of Ann Arbor would frown upon it...they are a different breed than Irish fans.

I wouldn't mind it as the night game but the preparation (security is just one of many considerations) for this might be more than either UM or the city want to handle.
I like one night game a year and honestly liked the tradition we had of going with ND as the night game, unfortunately that is no more. But MSU or Northwestern would be an interesting substitute. Please never make the OSU game a night game is all I ask.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:48 PM ^
I think that happened the night of the 2010 Iron Bowl (which was a late afternoon game).
Still, I'm open to the idea of an MSU night game, but we'd need a serious police presence that night.

True, but the real worry is about how the exceptions behave. And MSU definitely has some exceptions.
January 9th, 2015 at 3:53 PM ^
I would definitely put msu fans below all Alabama/Auburn/LSU fans except Harvey Updyke...

Does there really need to be one of these every year merely just to have a night game?
January 9th, 2015 at 1:18 PM ^
but I agree that it does not have to a branded "UTL" like affair. Just having the game at night alone is enough to create a great atmosphere
January 9th, 2015 at 1:32 PM ^
The next game that starts at noon will now be "Blank Sun Dial 617", 1:00 can be "Bo O'Clock 226" and 3:30 is TBD but will have a tee shirt with a cartoon mascot miming 3:30 with his arms.
Delivering a truckload of tee shirts and plastic watches commemorating the 596th time Michigan has played at noon to the visiting locker room has to be at least as effective as Iowa's all pink visitors digs.

the MOON looks better at night
January 9th, 2015 at 1:11 PM ^
2 or 3 night games I'm okay with. But, I want all other games to start at noon on Saturday. I litterally pace around my house and yard for hours looking at the time over and over again in anticipation of the games starting. This makes my wife/life difficult to deal with. If I lived close enough to AA, then the home games could start whenever, because I would be at all of them tailgating. Go Blue!!!
Obvious selfishness is obvious here, I realize. But one can wish.
January 9th, 2015 at 1:19 PM ^
Wait, your pacing around the yard for hours makes your wife difficult to deal with? LOL
/s I get what you mean
January 9th, 2015 at 1:28 PM ^
I feel your disdain since I'm exactly the same. I hate anything but a noon kickoff.
January 9th, 2015 at 2:08 PM ^
It's all on the TV Networks ($$$$) and I agree, with the hype of Jim Harbaugh, we won't get many 12:00 kickoffs. I'm living in Denver, and for myself and the people who live in the mountain time zone or the west coast...we will still get up and have a mimosa or bloody and cheer on our team if we do get a 12:00 game here or there but my guess is a majority will be the 3:30 game!
January 9th, 2015 at 3:23 PM ^
Much better to leave the house around 10am than 7am.
