To all those who said Michigan/State game would've been different if it had been played at the end of the year, I give you exhibit A the bowl games. State would beat you even worse than they did if the game were played now.
You hypocritical BASTARDS! Scoffing and laughing when your team benefits from the corrupt system and then lambasting it when it swings the other way! Enjoy your humble pie as the top program in the B1G puts you in your place. Because you know, nobody means more to the B1G, than Ohio State. Accept the truth.
Take the logic of what someone says and try to apply it to fringe cases and use that as being sufficient to shoot down the entire statement? You're deliberately ignore important facts of the case such as the fact that Michigan State has the same record as you while playing a more difficult schedule and that they won the previous 3 meetings before this one. Are any of those facts true for Iowa State? because if not, your comparison is extremely weak.
He reminds of me Dantonio and his attitude towards Michigan. Michigan fans love it when Hoke shows his disdain for Ohio State but when Dantonio does the same to Michigan he's referred to as an angry guy with sociopathic tendancies. Very hypocritical.
He was one of the only if not THE only O-linement to beat Pipkins in 1 on 1 drills. Big strong kid with as perfect a form as I've seen in high schoolers. Boehm + Garnett would be my dream grab.
While a Spartan win is the surest path they conveniently forgot to mention that a Whisky blowout would also probably seal it just as well. So root for that if it makes you feel better.
With all due respect, the idea of the B1G having to market the town in which the championship is played seems like it kind of defeats the purpose. Regardless of Lucas Oil Field being a better facility for it than Soldier Field, it should've been in Chicago and hopefully the league will see this as we all do. The biggest difference between Indy and Chi is that B1G alums living in Chicago alone could fill the stadium and probably would at $50 a tickets. While Indy will require people to drive/fly in. Nobody wants to go to Indy. As a State fans I would rather save my money for the bowl game (where-ever it is played) and make a trip out of that than go to Indy for the weekend.
Hollis is a real AD concerned with more than stupid shit like "Brand" That's why he has MSU taking part in a game for sevicepeople to honor the troops rather than some spectecle in Jerry-World.
Tressel was a badass. So he kicked the shit out of Michigan year in and year out. So he looked the other way as his players sold their shit and received benefits. Nobody's LIFE was ruined. But lives sure are ruined with this scandel and Paterno was too close to it to not have his reputation ruined by what happened there. Even if he followed procedure and it wasn't actually him, it is all too egregious.
In this interview with Sam and Ira, John clearly states that according to reliable sources with which he is close, much like the Les Miles situation, Dave Brandon never really considered Jim Harbaugh and that even once he became an NFL coaching candidate JH was still very much wanting to coach Michigan but that Michigan never gave him more than a consiliatory offer and that Dave Brandon never even spoke to jim Harbaugh personally..
In the podcast, Bacon doesn't reveil his soucres, but according to him, DB NEVER EVEN SPOKE TO JIM HARBAUGH concerning the job and that little more than a menial offer was made.
what I'm saying is that if the punch is the main issue for the B1G than one suspension shouln't have been all that came from that game. You all saw them game, you know that shots were taken on both sides during the course of play. In fact that was the very reason the ref gave for throwing the flag only and not also throwing Gholston from the game was that from his vantage, the punch occured in the normal course of play.
Again, of course he should've been tossed for the twist, nobody disputes that.
So yeah I come here pretty much all the time, and yes Michigan players pulled a bunch of cheap shots all game long and yes none of them were suspended. So yes, Michigan, in this case, received preferential treatment.
The best strategic move for the wolverines would have been a fight involving a bunch of men on both teams. A bunch of guys on each team suspended for the next game. Take the loss against State and then while Michigan's depleted yet rested squad would still be able to best Purdue, a depleted Michigan State would have surely lost to Wisky keeping Michigan's B1G Championship hopes far more realistic.
The Whisky/ MSU rivalry is one of mutual respect not very many penalties and almost no chippy-ness at all. Whereas there is absolutely no respect from or for anyone in the Michigan/MSU rivalry.
When I said that some big time programs are a poison chalice, I'm refering to places where the expectations no longer fall in line with the current realities of the operational environment. Why would a person in Danonio's situation want to alter his reality in such a way?
Every program has it's own goals, some more ambitious than others. The level of expectation at Michigan is perennial Big Ten Champion and occasional NC contender. The expectation at Michigan State is perennial Big Ten Contender, Beat Michigan.
Right now, Dantonio is slightly exceeding expectations and has elevated himself to Izzo status amongst the State faithful. He makes great money, has total job security, and his money is no good almost anywhere within 20 miles of East Lansing.
We see a lot of coaches who are very good and could have "bigger" jobs opting to stay in their current gigs because in their minds it's better to stay where you are, be a God, and exceed the limited expectations of the program year in and year out rather than move to a pressure cooker situation in which anything less than total victory is seen as a failure. Coaches have caught on and the sometimes poison chalice that is the high profile positions in college football don't automatically get their man any more.

What are you? 10?

Put Michigan in and give them the weakest possible opponent complements of a faithful UofM Alum. Congrats

It has to end this way. There is no other option.

You'd better be hoping for a fairly wide margin of victory. If they only lose by 3 points they won't fall beneath you.

Where's that scumbag at?

More than simply getting your ass consistantly handed to you goes into the equation for rivalry. It will never be bigger than Ohio.
Kevin Smith probably just very recently got all the way back from those initial devestating injuries.
He'll use every good player he has
Less controversial
It's not that bold.
just like every half way decent team they face does.
Lose even one more game and there isn't a chance.

This is such an awesome event
May I ask, who was actually harmed in the ohio situation? Nobody.

41-13 MICHIGAN crushes Iowa. Their corn and their football team.
Should we begin a petition to have Nickeback replaced with PopEvil?
Calm young padawan, calm. Soon, you will be a jedi, too.
Love reading what you have to say on the inner workings of the hockey community. Wishing for more material.

Why didn't any of the Michigan players get suspended for their behavior?
That makes it even worse that he would turn around and do things to undermine the program later on. Shows that he is paranoid, insecure, and selfish

Is it possible that he could receive a scholly for a different sport and also play football? Would that count against the scholly limit?
