That's a really good point but I would guess that the vast majority of people that graduate early also have pretty good grades. A person driven to graduate early is probably also driven to perform pretty well in classes. If by chance Pittman is finishing early with subpar academics he is probably in the minority by a long shot. However, there is still that chance.
"I would guess that the vast majority of people that graduate early also have pretty good grades"
Myabe, but it could work the other way too. A guy could load up on more credits than he could comfortably handle in an effort to graduate early, and finish with Ds across the board.
I'm sorry, but I can't wish anyone going to State best of luck.
Only things I wish for Mr. Burbridge are the best of health and butter fingers on Saturdays!
He's obviously not coming to the BBQ now. I said this on Twitter, this is a good get for them, but Michigan has a chance to get a good one soon too.
The bringer of the cryptic silver lining.
Buckle Up!
for such strange timing, right after saying he was coming to the BBQ. Seems like we might have 1 (or 2) locked up already
I know Dwayne and Adolphus have been quiet with summer ball going on, but does this help us at all, with Stanford?
Seems like it helps us more with Darboh than Stanford. He seems to have been cooling on us for a while, while things with Darboh are heating up. IIRC Darboh said he wanted to make his decision fairly soon.
If it gives an obvious boost with someone, I'd say it was Madaris, who was enthused by the Michigan offer at once and with whom MSU was thought to have the strongest lead.
Yep, Darboh and maybe even Monty Madaris.
do you mean a wideout or just a commit in general?
OMGDGB?!
Fine with me, plenty of other good recievers in the mix
But it's still July. We'll see how things play out.
Good get for Sparty, and best of luck to him in the future.
I was never as high on Burbridge as a lot of folks around here, mostly due to the grade situation. People can definitely change and get their acts together, but if he's struggling that much to qualify academically out of high school, it seems like he'd just be more attrition waiting to happen if we actually got him to Ann Arbor.
With that said, I foresee no academic complications for him at MSU.
A fantastically elegant and accurate statement here...right down to the final thought on Sparty.
This message is approved by me.
I would have gladly taken him, we can only speculate regarding his academics.
Dang. Really was hoping he'd go blue. Hope he gets his grades in order, it'd be a shame to waste an opportunity like this.
I hope he has a really good academic career, gets his degree, marries a nice girl and leads a happy life.
And that's pretty much the end of my good tidings.
Well, I hope that he meets some nice girl, she takes him out for a nice seafood dinner and never calls him again!
is a saint!
Is this situation a possibiliy?
Michigan would not accept his committment until Februaryish when they knew for sure if his grades were in order. MSU was willing to take him now so he commits there. In Februaryish if his grades are in order, Michigan can now take his committment and he joins his teammates in Ann Arbor?
Nope. We'll have another WR committed at that point.
So we are not taking two WR for sure?
It's because this is Michigan. It just is.
I doubt we take 35 commits this year...
It's actually quite possible M wouldn't take his commitment at this point since his academics are in doubt. I assume he figures we won't have WR spots left for him.
Per RCMB Hoke is lying to all recruits about playing time and then hard-selling them to commit early.
Maybe AB is too smart for Hoke's trickery.
Good Luck to you son....... now C'mon down Monty Madaris!!
I like his upside a lot, tough break for the good guys. I agree with others though, if his grades were better, he would have probably committed months ago when Funchess did.

I'm all for interesting ways to commit, but facebook? Come on, man.
I imagine Mario and Funchess 'dislike' his post.
Richardson committed via Twitter if I'm not mistaken.
Maybe, but he committed to Michigan. Totally acceptable.
That was just so he could hold the presser with his family. He committed to that date originally.
why not? somewhat refreshing to see one who doesn't feel he needs a press conference with a row of hats
Not sure why this is a surprise - with the season MSU had, they should be getting some quality guys. I question why they are not getting more. The answer is perhaps that no matter what, it will always be difficult to convince a lot of quality guys to play for MSU.
Go Blue!
WIth the success MSU had this past year we all were expecting a major battle with MSU for the recruits in MIchigan. Once Hoke started the smack down a couple months back it started to feel is if we would get any recruit we wanted. I guess that is why i feel the disapointment. Either way we lost a good one and we still need a good WR in this class.
Go Blue.
Gardner or Morris throwing to him, we know that much
Does that mean he wont be visiting now ?
TomVH "He's obviously not coming to the BBQ now. I said this on Twitter, this is a good get for them, but Michigan has a chance to get a good one soon too"
pretty sure his invitation has been rescinded
Good work, Sparty...You now have commits from two highly rated players that weren't able to commit to Michigan because of academic concerns. It's too bad AB couldn't get his grades in order, but I'm happy to see Michigan holding to a higher standard.
we dont know the detials of either of those guys' cases, dont knock on them or MSU without knowing the full story. AB got his test scores in order and aced summer school, he was on pace to qualify. And we have taken a couple players the last few year that haven't qualified.....
Wait...hold on...
we dont know the detials of either of those guys' cases...AB got his test scores in order and aced summer school, he was on pace to qualify
Did you really say both of those things in the same post? If "we don't know the details", how do we know that AB had his academics in order? If we "don't know", then we don't know. My source is a solid media source, so (and maybe he'll turn out to be wrong) it seems solid to me.
As for taking a couple of players in the last few years that didn't qualify...Umm, yeah...we also had a terrible stretch of Michigan football. We're moving away from the last few years.
"And we have taken a couple players the last few year that haven't qualified....."
Reliable sources have said this is not something the current regime wants to do. Before a kid commits, they want to be certain he's in good academic standing.
