Touchdown celebration vs MSU or OSU
Hey guys i was wondering what you guys would think if Michigan would have a big team celebration after a touchdown against MSU or OSU kinda expressing that their not gonna take any more of their crap. Would it be awesome or would it come across as classless? The Florida Georgia game from 2007 when the whole Georgia team came onto the field is what i had in mind. I love the look on Tebows face.
Don't like the idea of doing this, but if for whatever reason the coaches feel it's necessary I really hope they only do it when the game is won and out of reach (late 4th quarter, up by 21+).
Excessively celebrating like that early on and then losing the game not only makes you look classless but also makes you look like a moron.
Don't like it at any time (Michigan shouldn't be doing anything so classless) but if the coach were determined to do it, it's better at the start after the first UM TD. Waiting for a big lead may be better in terms of not costing a game but it is even more classless to do it with an insurmountable lead. So, don't do it, but, if you must, do it early.
Poor Consuela. If someone would just buy her the DAMN LEMON PLEDGE she's been requesting for years now, maybe she'd lighten up a little. You try to dust a house full of nice wood furniture without Pledge. Try it! It's frustrating. #lemonpledgeisadustersgiftfromgod
This is a terrible idea. Do you go to Junior College?
What's with hating on CC today? I think it's a great idea, i think some of the recruits would like it, (it's kinda their personality), and it reminds me of the Fab Five.

This idea, not so much.
If that were to happen, I am pretty sure the opposing team could send one player out to start a fight and everyone of our players would end up being ejected except for the 11 who were already on the field.
I am pretty sure that was what the pundits were saying that Urban should have done.
Act like you've been there before.
"Act like you've been there before.... and that you'll be there again."
Barry Sanders had the best touchdown "celebrations".
I'd love to see Shaw run in for a 10 yard touchdown to go up by 17 with 5 minutes left against MSU and OSU and simply run to the ref, give him the ball, then go give his linemen high fives.
However, after the OSU victory (by 24 after Woolfolk's pick-six on OSU's next drive) the team can go party in the northwest corner with the students
Give me Billy Sims' exuberant TD celebrations over Barry's ho-hum toss the ball back to the ref "celebration" any day.
It's one thing to act like you've been there before; it's a another thing to act like you couldn't give a f**k.
I live my entire life by that phrase.
Georgia has lost 18 of their last 21 games against Florida. The entire team celebrating in the end zone for a touchdown looks more like, "Yay, we actually scored against the Gators," than anything else...and that makes Georgia look REALLY pathetic.
We've had our problems the last 3 years. But I don't want us to sink THAT low.
Besides, do you know how much that would stroke an MSU fan's ego to see us acting like that after one touchdown? This is a team we have beaten 67 times.
immediately pissed and shoving and hitting his own players to stop them and later apologizing saying that's not what we're about. Some people say he told them to celebrate, but that's the only time I've ever seen him stop doing his lifetime Ben Stein impression so I think he was really pissed.
Yeah this sounds like a stunt more suited for Sparty.
I would be much happier just seeing us win the game, then seeing the team party in the endzone with the students for a few minutes. Much cooler and classier.
I understand we haven't had much to celebrate lately, but lets not go overboard.
This is Michigan. No need for petty games.
Maybe it's just me, but Office Space has to be the most mediocre cult flick I've ever seen.
then yes, I agree.
BTW... I didn't downvote you. You are entitled to your (entirely incorrect) opinion.
you shared that. Thank you.
I didn't downvote you either.
The look at Tebow's face was priceless. But, we don't need to fire them up more. No need to do anything, maybe just pull a Denard.
Act like you have been there before is always smart. Plus I think we are good with an extra point, give us the penalty and we are looking at 32yds.. Do you have that much faith in our K yet?
how about we just express that we're not going to take any more of their crap by beating them??
Win and there won't be a need for celebrating after a score.
The real question is how long would it take to get over the embarrassment of it?
I am still embarassed that we rushed the court when we beat UCONN basketball in 2010.
"Hey we beat the team that won the (worst) national championship (game of all time) the next season!!!"
It would probably be less embarassing to do a team coordinated celebration if we actually ended up winning. If we lost? More embarassing than UCONN court rush. For sure.
Looked particularly pathetic. I remember seeing that high (low?)light for the first time and thinking it looked like an FCS school just beat a top-10 BCS team. Instead it was a conference rival scoring their first touchdown on a team that stomps them fairly regularly. Weak.
Remember Mallett's flip of the ball to the ref after his Penn St TD scramble? And Jake Long subsequently telling him to chill out, hand the ball to the referee? That's how it should be done.
This...is...Michigan. So yeah, never, ever.
the answer is always going to be yes.
Like school in July
The only time I want to see a cocky endzone celebration is when Denard runs 80 yards past osu for the game sealing touchdown to cap off a perfect season. Then he can do the heisman pose, not that bush-league bullshit.
I doubt we see that from Denard but if we do that is the only celebration I would be excited to see.
This is a terrible idea. They are getting strict with celebrations and things that could be considered taunting. If it has the remote chance of taking points off the board I am against it.
This is Michigan. There's no reason to send your entire team on to the field after scoring a touchdown against Michigan State; a team that hasn't been to a Rose Bowl in over twenty years. We're all apart of the winningest program in the history of the game and I expect us to continue to act like it.
Reminds me of when most of the USC team started doing the Soldier Boy "You''ll" or whatever Dance before half time of the Rose Bowl against Penn State when they were killing them. One of the most classless acts I have ever seen. Carroll is just smiling nonchalantly. I remember that was Royster's big year and he was knocked out of the game because of injury early. I have never before wanted another non-UofM team to come back and win a game so badly. God I was hoping Penn State would pull it off. I was so happy USC got its just rewards from the NCAA. I will probably never respect that team again.
Also, on the note of act like you have been there before, let's win a couple of games against State and TSIO and then celebrate amongst ourselves after the game, instead of celebrating a score within the game. Show some respect for our opponents.
FUCK. THIS. IDEA.
In the ass.
Let the players celebrate with roses on November 26
I wouldn't mind if they acted like Jimmy Johnsons Miami teams if they played that good to back it up.
I say we do a celebration where we do a one-time mascot where when the buckeye runs on the field we unleash the wolverine to beat his ass pregame. That should be enough to carry us to the victory.
Excessive celebration penalty could include negating the touchdown. So no. Also, just no.
Has that ever happened? I've only ever seen it enforced on the following kickoff
I'm pretty sure the rule changes starting this season.
I thought it was only supposed to apply to actions taken during the play. Per ESPN's article on the change:
"Beginning in 2011, if a player is penalized for taunting an opponent on his way to a touchdown that play will be nullified."
Which is dumb as hell either way, but I don't think that rule would apply to celebrations after the play is over.
IME, let players do backflips and shit because its fun for everyone except old people (and the losers). Rushing the field just looks kinda dumb (as someone said previously, I'd expect it from the App States or, err, Toledos, I guess?)
And will always be too soon.
Real bad idea IMO. Look what happened to Georgia the year after the held a team celebration against Florida. Urban took timeouts at the end of tje game just to rub it in
It comes back to haunt you.
I lean toward the whole "act like you've done it before" demeanor, but sanctimonious wankers like Tebow or Grant Hill bother me shit-ton more.
