Of the many responses, that was one that I actually found kind of funny. As opposed to:
"hope you enjoy losing to us for four years" - you are going to probably get a bowl ban and possibly a scholarship reduction, it's going to scare away some talent, so it's going to be tough to do that...
"enjoy never playing a bowl" - we were in a bowl last year, and we're only going to get better with these new recruits...
"never a true buckeye" - people say this about everyone who goes against the fanbase. Whether they're labeled "true buckeye" or "Michigan Man," it's all really stupid.
Then there's the whole son thread...really if you raise your kid the right way (at least from a parental perspective), you should in grain in them the importance of the school you went to/support. Kyle Kalis grew up a Buckeyes fan because he lived in Ohio. His parents didn't go to OSU. Sure YOU wouldn't let your kid go to Michigan. However, Kalis's parents didn't have an obligation to make him go to OSU. Obviously, decommiting and commiting elsewhere isn't an ideal situation for anyone, but they make it seem like he commited sacrilege.
They're probably the greatest fathers in the world for your information. Gratutitous beatings of anybody who goes against their buckeye values, that'll teach you to form your own opinion!
/s
I plan on fully supporting my kids wherever they choose to go. If the subtle 18 years of wolverine indoctrination fail to do trick, its my own fault they choose elsewhere.
I agree as long as they don't choose tSIO.
Just kidding.
Seriously though....Not tSIO.
The Outback Bowl during Hoke's first year? I'll take it.
I'd take it too. Good times on the horizon for Hoke & co.
That would be Hoke's second year actually, Kalis wont be here for Hoke's first.
I love how they call our mascot "weasels" when their mascot is a nut.
They are a whiny bunch of turds.
but, youre dealing with the worlds worst type of people. Ohio fans in general are usually very sorry people. Dude I was REALLY pissed when Boren transfered to the ghetto in columbus but i would have never wised injury on him. God, if you can hear me, we must beat their ass this year. GOOOOO BBLLLLLUUUEEE for life.
I lived in Cleveland for a couple years. I know. Sigh.
Actually, a buckeye is a poisonous nut. Wikepedia:
"The tree species Aesculus glabra is commonly known as Ohio buckeye, American buckeye, or fetid buckeye. It derives its unflattering common name from the disagreeable odor generated from the flowers, crushed leaves, broken twigs, or bruised bark...
The fruits contain tannic acid, and are poisonous for cattle, and possibly humans.[2] Native Americans would blanch them, extracting the tannic acid for use in leather.
Perfectly fitting considering the bitter, noxious smelling comments on Bucknuts.
That is so badass
Can they hereafter be known as the fetid buckeyes? Please?
I love how they get our mascot that doesn't exist completely wrong.
I hope the ill willed bucknuts tear their ACL's. Preferably on the way out of their trailers.
Let's not stoop to their level. Especially during tornado season.
The rational posters there are like 1 in 20. I dont know how they can even use that site.
it was stupid when Michigan fans said it about Justin Boren, and it's stupid now. I'll never understand what makes grown men feel like they've been personally insulted when a 17 year old kid decides he'd rather not play football for their school.
in the case of Boren, it was the classless way he left Michigan - whining about a supposed "loss of family values" and other blatant mis-truths. Not just the fact he was transferring to TSIO. And I think it was made worse with some people that his dad was a star player for Michigan in the early 80's. Still, we should all maintain the class that IS Michigan and not stoop to their level as you're suggesting.
Boren was just a disengeuous coward with how he went about things.
Last I checked the NFL draft karma persists in it's efficacy
Cue, not que.
those posts just proove why not to be a fuckeye fan.
HAIL TO THE VICTORS BABY, I'm glad Kalis finally came to his senses
Its going to be even worse when Dunn commits to Michigan.
unless OSU gets a 3 year bowl ban (which they won't).
I actually think some of these kids are going to end up back at OSU if OSU doesn't get hammered (Dodson, Pittman, Washington, Stanford), and I don't think they'll get hammered at all.
I think Kalis is probably different though; word was he wanted to make sure of his choice because he didn't want to decommit again.
I'm sure the classy treatment he's going to be receiving from Ohio fans will further validate his decision.
don't comprehend what is happening. Coach Hoke and his staff, have taken full advantage of the issues at OSU. The speed and efficiency of Michigan in recruiting... has left them speechless and looking for answers.
It's not just that. It's literally impossible for many Buckeye fans to understand why any in-state kid would turn down their school to go elsewhere, especially Michigan. The state of Ohio's college sports culture is dominated by one school in a way that few other states are (Nebraska might be another).
Pretty much. For these people, they dress their kids in buckeye gear from the minute they're born and assume everyone else in Ohio does the same. They don't even understand the concept that there are Cincinnati and Miami fans...Ohio State is always more important than any other school in the state. Thus, they consider anyone from Ohio as their property, despite years of kids going elsewhere to school.
These people need to get a life. Or a job. or something else to occupy their time.
Well, it's a little silly for posters on a site dedicated to obsessive Michigan fans to tell another fanbase to get a life. We might be in the same boat if MSU had never joined the Big Ten. OSU fans just don't know what it's like to live in a state where there is another major college sports school. Cincinnati, a commuter school on the far fringe of the state, doesn't really appear on the radar.
the locals here in cbus at least can't even fathom that every other city doesn't all obsess as one about a single college football team. My wife had a co-worker who was sure that our former home (Chicago) had to be just like this, with everyone focused on Illinois or Northwestern. For a good chunk of the state, OSU football is the only professional team they follow.
With that being said, it seems historically we take way more of their good players than they take of ours. I know they usually have a much deeper talent pool- yet it seems we are still able to pick off many of their top end guys while we generally keep ours. I can think of a few players going to OSU over the past few decades but nobody on the level of Woodson, Howard, Manningham, Kalis etc...... it seems like a lot of the Bucknut fans grow up bleeding scarlet and grey but when you're a big time prospect and you start looking around at different schools, the atmosphere and quality of Michigan wins out to many of them.
If Kalis pans out the way he should it'd be almost like if they would've taken a Jake Long or a Brandon Graham right out of our back yard- not saying he'll be that good- hopefully he is- but I can't remember them ever winning a recruiting battle like that in the state of Michigan- I'm sure it's happened but it has to have been a long time.
Yeah I forgot about Gholston. I like to pretend he didn't exist. Maybe it is the 2 schools in Michigan thing but I'd like to think UM is just wicked cool.
It wasn't a huge recruiting battle, but for me personally it always kind of stung that Craig Krenzel was from Michigan and went south, besides the obvious Vernon Gholston
Let those more informed correct me, but I thought Krenzel wanted to go to the UofM, but the coaches said no thanks.
Yeah, I don't think we were too high on him, but I'm not sure if he wanted to come here either, since at the time it seemed like he'd have to sit behind Henson for awhile. He pretty much fell into OSU's lap.
This article says he had a Michigan offer at one point but once Henson was signed, Michigan withdrew the offer. My memory is a bit hazy on this--didn't Carr agree not to sign any quarterbacks in the class that followed Henson's?
He got verbal offers from Ohio State, Stanford, Wake Forest, Boston College, Duke, as well as Michigan and Michigan State, Allen Krenzel said.
"At that point, I was kind of debating between Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State. I liked all three schools," Krenzel said, adding that he never rooted for Michigan or Michigan State while growing up.
"While I was young, my dad and I were Notre Dame fans," he said.
Michigan backed off after signing Henson the previous year, his dad said.
As I recalll, the deal with Henson was : no other QBs in Henson's class or the one after.
Left us in the lurch when Henson took George's bribe.
It was the other way around - no QBs in his class (1998) or the year before him (1997). The offer was made when he was still a high school junior.
We did, in fact, sign two QBs the year after him - Navarre and Mignery.
I think that's a function of the state of Michigan having two teams to Ohio's one. MSU is the alternative school to U-M here, whereas there isn't a local alternative to OSU, so the team OSU hates (U-M) gets to fill the void.
How's it going? Nice to see ya around. I'd like to think those greedy fingers of yours are clenched around another Ohio steal. The grin gives it away...
buckeyE tears are, by far, the sweetest and most delicious in the B1G by a long shot.
The name calling from osu fans really only solidifies that he made the right choice.
Those that are calling for HS players to run at his knees so he tears a ligament are just dispicable. Recruits are 17 year old kids. Just classless.
What a bunch of idiots. Thats all I have to say.
This is just another reason to hate Ohio State fans. Trailer trash bunch of bitches. Wishing injury on a 17 year old. Stay classy Ohio.
I can't wait till November 26th
