Date Title Body
Schwartz

Actually, I'm beginning to think that Schwartz is part of the problem.  They've created and encouraged this sort of play out of the team and I don't think they fully know how to control it.  If the team doesn't clean up a lot of this sloppy play and penalties, they need to find someone who WILL keep the players in line.

Wait,

This is off-topic?

If there were a scenario that

If there were a scenario that Urban Meyer wasn't lying, I believe that would cause the universe to collapse on itself.

If only Suh and the Lions

If only Suh and the Lions would have played head to head against Bradford and the Rams, then we might be able to tell who was better off.

Oh wait, they did.  And the Lions squeaked out a 44-6 win.

Those guys can hop in the

Those guys can hop in the shower together and scrub away their shame.  On second thought, that won't work--they'll still be Sparties.

I, for one, am super-excited

I, for one, am super-excited by the use of the "pee that is not the right color at all" tag and look forward to reading every article tagged with it.

Because Osgood is out, Howard

Because Osgood is out, Howard is playing through an injury and he is dirt cheap.  Without any other viable options, you kind of have to try something.  What's he going to do, turn on them pro wrestling style?

It's easy to say that Nabokov

It's easy to say that Nabokov has failed in the past in the playoffs, but has he had the Wings' level of defense in front of him?  That's the argument that has been made about Ozzie that he's benefitted from having these guys on the ice; maybe that pays dividends for Nabokov too.

I know this all too well

I know this all too well because my son got this for Christmas.  He tried building it but it fell to me to complete it.  It was pretty awesome when it was all said and done.

I, for one, LOVE the idea of

I, for one, LOVE the idea of a big name DC hire.  Being a realist, I see no way it's freaking happening.

Let's not forget that we have Brady Hoke as our head coach.  If we brought it a Randy Shannon or some other similar big name guy who has been a head coach at this level, doesn't that overshadow our head coach?  Sure, Hoke's still the name at the top of the org chart, but if his assistants have a higher Q rating then he's going to get lost in the shuffle with no opportunity to stand out on his own until games are played.

I would be very shocked if DB made a glamour hire for the DC.  At this point, I'd be very satisfied for them just to bring in a staff that's all on the same page no matter of their level of fame.

Randy Shannon is a glamorous

Randy Shannon is a glamorous hire but what about the possibility of Teryl Austin?  For better or worse, he's got those all important Michigan ties and has been a DC in the almighty ESS EEE CEE.

I think our plans are to play

I think our plans are to play them in back to back weeks at the end of November/beginning of December.

Can we keep the Wizard

Can we keep the Wizard Sleeve, though?

Maybe LM should sign 4 or 5

Maybe LM should sign 4 or 5 offensive coordinators and then just let the ones go that don't make the cut.

I think that was just in

I think that was just in anticipation of a hat trick.

THE Bruce Dickinson

The cock of the walk, baby!

This is Telling.

Very telling.

No, that's too slow and

No, that's too slow and rational of an approach and is UNACCEPTABLE.  We must all make snap judgements today on what will happen 3 years from now so we can be proven correct over time.  We have no time to wait since the season is less than 8 months away.

He's probably been simmering

He's probably been simmering over that loss to Tressel since then and we'll get the benefit of that payback this November.  It makes perfect sense!  Why didn't we see this coming?

Even the various all-B1G

Even the various all-B1G teams didn't classify Denard as a QB, in spite of naming him as the player of the year.  He might have gotten mention as a "back."

Well, it's Sharp so....yeah.

Well, it's Sharp so....yeah.

This

Is exactly right except we didn't just come off as insular dinosaurs, the program actually were insular dinosaurs.

The outsider coach was never accepted by the old guard and there's no indication that an outsider will for the foreseeable future.  For all the fans who wanted us to look at another outsider like Patterson, Petersen, Malzahn, Mullen--how were those guys supposed to get that support?  It wasn't going to happen.

I'm hopeful that Hoke can develop some capable assistants so that there will be more Michigan coaching bloodlines going forward.

Hey, we don't know what BH

Hey, we don't know what BH looks like in a Speedo.  It could be very sexy (depending on what you're into)

Player's coach?

The term "player's coach" had me a little uneasy to hear it because it just seems like such a negative thing at the NFL level, where you only ever seem to hear it.  I then reminded myself that this isn't the NFL level and that Pete Carroll was always viewed as a "player's coach".  Not that I expect that kind of results, but it shows it can work and be welcomed within a successful team.

I'm all in.

At the very least, Hoke was A-1

I think things were set for him to go after--and likely get--Harbaugh and that's why no decision was made until after Stanford's bowl game.  Perhaps it was even a behind the scenes agreement they'd talk after the Orange Bowl.  But Harbaugh's popularity blew up in the month between the end of the season and that date due to the massive number of openings in the NFL and the curb-stomping they put on VT.

Since the change had to be made by this point, and they knew they had to stick to a guy with Michigan ties after the RR experiment was deemed a "failure", they didn't have enough viable options out there.  A theory goes that Brandon had to reach out to Miles to appease one of the factions out there that was never behind RR because they wanted Miles the last time and he was never in the discussion.  Brandon made this overture without any serious offer, knowing all along that many of the anti-RR crowd would come home for any "Michigan Man" hire.  Hence, Hoke was the next option when JH was no longer available.

Mmmmmm, Vernor's floats.

Mmmmmm, Vernor's floats.

There are different perspectives

Some people thought we took on a "win-at-all-cost" mentality when we hired RR since he was an outsider from a different conference and ran an offense we weren't used to.  They would think that someone like that doesn't understand all that about sportsmanship on par with winning.

To them, Les Miles is a return to the sainted Michigan ways and they have no idea of these things the insiders on this board pick up on.

I hope Auburn and their fans

I hope Auburn and their fans enjoy this championship for tonight.  They'll be giving it back in just a year or so.

Wow, Oregon closing out the

Wow, Oregon closing out the game with the dimestore folding lawnchair defense.  Their fans should be proud.

If Oregon is going to win

If Oregon is going to win this game, it's going to be in spite of the play calls not because of them.

Excellent takedown!

Excellent takedown!

I think that's an SEC-only

I think that's an SEC-only strategy they are forced to use because the level of competion is SOOOO much better than anywhere else.

I've gotten the impression

I've gotten the impression that's all he did.  At least when he wasn't busy posting on RCMB.

I think there was an Auburn

I think there was an Auburn fan in blackface there.

But Gabbert and Bradford were

But Gabbert and Bradford were in passing spread offenses, not run spreads.  A case can be made that Brady and Manning run pass spread offenses with their teams.

That's just what they want us

That's just what they want us to think!

Maybe like Hannibal Lecter.

Maybe like Hannibal Lecter.  He'd eat the other team's faces.

I've loved his stuff ever

I've loved his stuff ever since I first saw (heard?) him on Home Movies.  I think his delivery makes his characters' lines come across even better.

No Oscar surprise?

Does this mean we don't have a shot at Marisa Tomei as our next coach?

Is there really that much money in it?

It would seem like the people who have that inside knowledge would already be comfortable enough financially that they aren't trolling online options to win a couple hundred bucks because they guessed right based on that inside info.

We're everyone's "dream job"

We're everyone's "dream job" and yet here we are without a coach.  Funny how that happens.

We won the games last season that he was in town for.
