As long as we're being pedantic about the place, Paramus is a public school. Paramus Catholic (aka University of Michigan Prep) is a separate entity entirely.
|27 weeks 5 days ago||Harbaugh specials||
It seems like Harbaugh and Brown may value certain attributes or skills more than other coaches or scouting services. Is there anyone who could end up going Blue (2017 or beyond) who might offer more for this particular team and coaching staff than their rankings and interest lists suggest?

Are the camps spectator events at all?

Todd McShay seems pretty impressed with Henry:

|1 year 27 weeks ago||Falcon's apology||
"I just want to apologize to the Michigan fans."
This definitely got me; it really seems like this young man is hurting over the decisions he faces and the whole situation. I hope he realizes that he has absolutely nothing to apologize for and that whether he ends up in Ann Arbor or not, he's still earned a lot of respect from the Michigan community for how he is conducting himself. Here's wishing much success to Mr. Falcon, be it as a student at UM or a student-athlete elsewhere.

Metellus is up to 4 stars on ESPN, 21st-ranked safety.
|2 years 2 weeks ago||2004 Primetime Shootout||
Yes it's cheating based on the no-basketball-factory clause, but the 2004 Oak Hill team was kind of ridiculous; Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo, and six other future D1 players including former Wolverine great Anthony Wright.
Saw them at the 2004 Primetime Shootout, and some of the other teams I caught that day were pretty stacked too. Oak Hill was matched against Cardinal Dougherty, which had Kyle Lowry (seeing Lowry and Rondo go at it in HS was pretty sweet) and Shane Clark, and Southwest Atlantic Christian (Dwight Howard, Javaris Crittenton) played Lincoln (Sebastian Telfair, some other high-major talent).

Also, it's in Texas.

Ace, I know hyopthetical questions are obnoxious, but where do you think Isaac would rate in this year's RB class?
|3 years 16 weeks ago||Gedeon||
What's the consensus on Gedeon being a contributor next year? Most of this season has blended together into a big gray mush of a memory, but I vaguely remember being impressed with a few plays he made.

Per Wikipedia, he's been cut from teams in both. Apparently Kirk Ferentz's reach extends to all FL's, be they N, C, or A.
|3 years 20 weeks ago||Just curious||
In the experience of those who write for/read this site, are the policies Brian wrote about today harsher, more lenient, or about the same as most other team-specific CFB sites of a similar nature? My limited forays onto other team sites have generally given me an even greater appreciation for MGoBlog so I'm inclined to say most others are more lenient, but that could just be a variety of biases at work.
|3 years 22 weeks ago||Maybe||
To show how passionate our fanbase is and how electric an atmosphere the Big House can be even when things are at their ebb? No offense to you personally, but y'all need to stop with this emo whininess. Have some pride in the program, in the players who are still laying it on the line out there, and in yourself as a fan and/or graduate of the University of Michigan. Let's do our part to show these kids why they should want to wear the Maize and Blue.
|3 years 22 weeks ago||Go Blue||
Great news, very glad to have this young man aboard. May this be just the start of a historically great week for Michigan football.
|3 years 22 weeks ago||legitimately curious||
When did being a fair-weather fan become something that people felt the need to announce the world? "I no longer care, which is something you should care about." This year has been absolutely brutal, no doubt, but if you don't have the stomach for it, why do you feel the need to let everyone know? Stop watching, stop caring, and enjoy your new hobbies. Maybe this is more of a general rant fueled by social media and what they've wrought, but why should we give a damn that your fanhood has hit its limits?
I'm still going to watch on Saturday, I'm still going to wear Maize and Blue every chance I get, and I'm not going to have to convince myself or try extra hard to be excited about Michigan football next year. I am a fan and a supporter of Michigan football, not when it's good or exciting or interesting; all the time, year in and year out.
I realize the inherent hyopcrisy of responding to an "I quit and here's why" post in this manner; so sue me. After all the whining I've been seeing, I just had to vent.
STILL proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.

|3 years 35 weeks ago||UDFA status -- probably OT||
Speaking of cuts, has anyone posted updates about the undrafteds and who looks to be hanging on? I've been scanning the transaction lists, but the absence of Wolverines from the cut list doesn't necessarily mean they haven't been cut, or something.

Also of note, in the 2007 Syracuse comments: "Greg Robinson is a very good DC."
2008 me is very relieved to hear that.

I feel your pain. "Hello..." posts definitely help, though.

Did not expect to ever see a River Dell mention on MGoBlog (even if it is just for hosting a track meet)!
That's all, sorry for the interruption.
|4 years 6 days ago||Clark's height||
OT as far as this thar post goes, but my fellow MGoReader doesn't work here any more, so I have no one to discuss this with...
ESPN had the first half of their exiting senior survey, and in the responses for best redshirt freshman, someone said about Jeremy Clark, "A 6-6 safety and I know he can do some things back there."
Apologies if this has been discussed before, but is Clark really 6'6" or is this a bit of the exagerrating? And are we thinking this is good (defensive Funchess! DeFunchess?) or bad (can't think of another 6'6" safety off the top of my head so it must be something that can never work)?
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Museums||
Was talking to my dad last night and he mentioned that he had gone to the Palm Springs Air Museum and was able to find out a lot about a friend's father who had flown on bombers in WWII. I'm not sure if it was through someone who worked there or just a chance encounter, but if there are any airplane-related museums near you, it might be a good place to try. Even if you don't have any luck, it's not a bad way for an 11 year-old and his dad to spend an afternoon (speaking as a former 11 year-old).
|4 years 10 weeks ago||turtle||
Based on the timing, I think it has to be assumed this had something to do with the turtle story and its subsequent denial. Either the story disturbed him, or once it was debunked, it ruined the school's mystique. The lesson to take from this is that telling stories about legendary coaches exposing their genitals to reptiles rarely--if ever--pays off when it comes to recruiting.
|4 years 10 weeks ago||Coach on the floor||
Not sure if the NCAA has the same rule, but as Jason Kidd demonstrated, a coach-player collision on the floor gets the coach a T in the NBA. Funny that the coach he smacked is now his coach.
[Edited to remove shamefully incorrect apostrophe.]

But is Byrd more than just a (18%) shooter???
|4 years 11 weeks ago||non-Wolverines||
Two thoughts reading the quotes in the Blue Chips article:
1. Why would State not offer a 6'5" 290 lbs OL who was good enough for Florida?
2. I've never been a big fan of cheering for anyone else in the Big 10, but "I'm a good eater. I can put it away." has me rooting for Gerald Holmes to have a nice career (outside of games against us).
|4 years 11 weeks ago||Re: Question||
I'm too lazy to find anything to back this up, but a few years ago there was a story about Tom Brady working to improve his arm strength. The gist of it was, there are exercises/drills you can do to add a little zip to your fastball, though I seem to recall that it was a fairly intensive training process.

Beer-soaked memory may be failing me, but re: sack, didn't Lewan have something similar happen in the ND game? I thought he got beat on a speed rush for a sack and then took care of business after that, much like on Saturday.
