the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

Did not expect to ever see a River Dell mention on MGoBlog (even if it is just for hosting a track meet)! That's all, sorry for the interruption. |
| 3 weeks 2 days ago | Clark's height |
OT as far as this thar post goes, but my fellow MGoReader doesn't work here any more, so I have no one to discuss this with... ESPN had the first half of their exiting senior survey, and in the responses for best redshirt freshman, someone said about Jeremy Clark, "A 6-6 safety and I know he can do some things back there." Apologies if this has been discussed before, but is Clark really 6'6" or is this a bit of the exagerrating? And are we thinking this is good (defensive Funchess! DeFunchess?) or bad (can't think of another 6'6" safety off the top of my head so it must be something that can never work)? |
| 7 weeks 2 days ago | Museums |
Was talking to my dad last night and he mentioned that he had gone to the Palm Springs Air Museum and was able to find out a lot about a friend's father who had flown on bombers in WWII. I'm not sure if it was through someone who worked there or just a chance encounter, but if there are any airplane-related museums near you, it might be a good place to try. Even if you don't have any luck, it's not a bad way for an 11 year-old and his dad to spend an afternoon (speaking as a former 11 year-old). |
| 13 weeks 1 day ago | turtle |
Based on the timing, I think it has to be assumed this had something to do with the turtle story and its subsequent denial. Either the story disturbed him, or once it was debunked, it ruined the school's mystique. The lesson to take from this is that telling stories about legendary coaches exposing their genitals to reptiles rarely--if ever--pays off when it comes to recruiting. |

Not sure if the NCAA has the same rule, but as Jason Kidd demonstrated, a coach-player collision on the floor gets the coach a T in the NBA. Funny that the coach he smacked is now his coach.

But is Byrd more than just a (18%) shooter??? |
| 14 weeks 18 hours ago | non-Wolverines |
Two thoughts reading the quotes in the Blue Chips article: 1. Why would State not offer a 6'5" 290 lbs OL who was good enough for Florida? 2. I've never been a big fan of cheering for anyone else in the Big 10, but "I'm a good eater. I can put it away." has me rooting for Gerald Holmes to have a nice career (outside of games against us). |
| 14 weeks 1 day ago | Re: Question |
I'm too lazy to find anything to back this up, but a few years ago there was a story about Tom Brady working to improve his arm strength. The gist of it was, there are exercises/drills you can do to add a little zip to your fastball, though I seem to recall that it was a fairly intensive training process. |

Beer-soaked memory may be failing me, but re: sack, didn't Lewan have something similar happen in the ND game? I thought he got beat on a speed rush for a sack and then took care of business after that, much like on Saturday. |

No idea if anyone has this already. If you do, thanks, jerk. |
| 41 weeks 22 hours ago | Offerdahl |
In case anyone was curious, Offerdahl is the former Dolphin LB's son. Maybe the coffee just hasn't kicked in yet, but that was not as simple to confirm as I thought it would be. |
| 45 weeks 3 days ago | more the latter |
It was more a reflection on him as a person than as a football player. He just annoys the hell out of me. And he ruins Sportscenter. |

Am I the only one for whom the Brett Favre association has permanently damaged the description "QB"? |
| 50 weeks 1 day ago | perference |
I don't really have anything useful to add, I just wanted to point out the esteemed gentleman from Columbus's use of the word "perfer." Just because that's how y'all pronounce it, doesn't mean that's how it's spelled.

Best of luck to Chris on his academic and athletic future (unless and until the latter is against us, of course) . |

Does anyone have any insight into his answer about Furman? That answer seemed somewhat...ominous.

| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Burzynski |
Burzynski's not a name I'm all that familiar with, any insight on him beyond what's on his MGOBlue profile page? Kovacs et al. have made me far more open-minded towards walkons, so I'm curious if he has a real shot to become a contributor, or at least provide non-terrifying depth. |
| 2 years 7 weeks ago | Aaron Bruce |
This is a very minor point but if memory serves, Bruce's odd career trajectory also had to do with the transition from only decent player on a very bad, very punished team to role player on a team with a number of talented Scott Drew recruits. |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | Michigan wrestlers in MMA |
As long as we're on wrestling, does anyone know of any former Michigan wrestlers who have transitioned to MMA? Off the top of my head I can think guys in the UFC who wrestled at State, OSU, Penn St. and Purdue but I don't remember hearing about any Wolverines in the Octagon or any other big promotions. |
| 2 years 12 weeks ago | Godin: the anti-Boren? |
I realize everyone else with something to say probably chimed in on the original thread, but after reading this I find myself really hoping Matt Godin ends up going Blue. And I think it's great his brother got his back and did so rationally and articulately. Does this make them the diametric opposites of the Borens? |
| 2 years 16 weeks ago | It's just as well; he won't |
It's just as well; he won't sign with any team that won't draft his brother. |
| 2 years 37 weeks ago | re: no positives |
This may be (definitely is?) oversimplifying, but if at any point during the season Gardner gives the team a better chance to win, I see playing him as a positive. I'd love for him to have an extra year to develop but if burning a year means more wins this year, I'm okay with it. i realize how shortsighted that is, but such is college football. |
| 2 years 38 weeks ago | re: Obama |
Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought so. I was scrolling quickly and actually stopped to see why there was a picture of the prez's head Photoshopped onto a UM basketball player. |
| 2 years 39 weeks ago | re: Moundros |
I was actually wondering the same thing. Admittedly it's not overly likely that a guy goes from walk-on FB to legitimate Big 10 starting LB, but it's theoretically possible. Do we have any indication how plain old Moundros the LB looks, as opposed to "Moundros the walk-on who as a FB a year ago and may have jumped decent recruits who we'd be more comfortable having as starters"? |
| 3 years 32 weeks ago | Thanks Tim |
Once again, great job, thanks for doing this. One minor quibble though...you're killing me with the "21-28" scores! Sorry, hate to be that guy. As I said, really appreciate all the info every week. |
| 3 years 39 weeks ago | re: question |
Good man. Glad to know there are other people who prioritize the way I do. |
