That's disappointing. Dom's at 2am was so amazing.

Donut Sundae/Donut Friday with the ice cream and the peanuts. So delicious. Overpriced, yes, but delicious.

This is what our family has…

This is what our family has been doing for years and it's perfect. Maybe it wouldn't work with older kids or heavy users, but we permanently keep Hulu+Disney (elementary age kids) and rotate the rest as needed.

Fuck the NCAA in entirety in…

Fuck the NCAA in entirety in this day and age, but seriously? These guys need to toss around 8 figures to get investigated whereas they're trying to nail us over $25 of food (maybe $28 if they added the bacon)?

Also for clarification, the…

Also for clarification, the big MDen sale is Memorial Day weekend...lucked into that one this past summer and finally picked up the hockey sweater I'd always wanted!

I mean...a repeated pattern…

I mean...a repeated pattern of well documented misogyny and bigotry, multiple credible sexual assault allegations, doxxing people who call him out. The guy is a loudmouth, arrogant, offensive prick, and him being an alum is a mark of shame, not a badge of honor.

Fuck Dave Portnoy. He's one…

Fuck Dave Portnoy. He's one of the last people I'd want defending this institution.

He's not wrong, and this is also a very not great thing to say in public.

The Bears are just a mess.

Did I catch a niner in there?

Did I catch a niner in there?

You're not wrong. Golf has…

You're not wrong. Golf has seemed to be on the decline for a while now, and messing with the schedule doesn't help. Neither does the fracturing of the Tour and the player base. The FedEx Cup is a contrived championship in a sport where the four majors have always been the true prize. Just some odd choices lately, which is a shame.

To your point, I grew up near Rochester, NY, and you'd be lucky to be reliably playing this time of year. The climate is such that the ground can still freeze at any time, so it's a day to day thing. I'm glad they're still holding the tournament there, but August in Central NY is a much safer bet than mid May. But cash is king, so they'll make do, I suppose. I just hope the region doesn't lose out on future tournaments because of the scheduling crunch.

Oh my God yes. My daughter…

Oh my God yes. My daughter is 8 and plays on the travel soccer team. The majority of parents are reasonable, but the few that aren't ruin it for everyone. I genuinely like going to the games and watching my daughter play, but my experience is soured by those few bad apples if I don't go out of my way to sit far away from everyone else. Yelling at their kids for missing plays, degrading their kids out loud, coaching from the sidelines, and criticizing strategy (again, they're 8, they're going to mess up)...you name it. It's absolutely infuriating and it's getting harder and harder to hold my tongue.

I'm with you! Not a fan of the track (or any track that prioritizes glitz/celebs over racing), but quali did leave us with an intriguing grid. Hopefully that means an interesting race!

Totally agree. It might just be because he called the last 2 OSU games, but I associate his voice with such strong good memories that he's all good in my book.

I mean, I feel like the trick was that it was never GREAT pizza, it was cheap, readily available, average pizza. It's a place that knows its role and fills it perfectly.

I lived in UTowers and ate at NYPD around the same time and concur on both fronts. I thought I was going to die in that UTowers elevator on multiple occasions.

I like that Back Room Pizza…

I like that Back Room Pizza is still around and has only increased their prices 50 cents or so in the past 20 years. Just had a slice for the first time in a decade or so and it holds up.

I love my '19 GLI and hope I never have to give it up, but agree with you that it'll eventually get replaced with electric. I'm on my 4th manual vehicle and can't imagine totally giving it up. I like your idea of a little sports car for fun down the line!

I was born and raised in…

I was born and raised in Syracuse in the 80s and 90s, and man was it a great time to be a Cuse fan. Great team after great team, amazing players every year, and such cohesiveness of the city around the team. The Dome was such an awesome place to watch a game, and Boeheim was in the middle of it all. I went to school with one of his kids, and the whole family was super friendly and humble. I'll always remember running down the halls of MoJo in joy in March 2003 when the Orangemen won the title during my freshman year at UM.

Despite some good tourney runs in the last several years, it's all felt like the team has been on a 10 year downslide as of late, and unfortunately that's largely attributed to Boeheim's refusal to abide by a succession plan. I'll always appreciate what he did for the school, but the way he overstayed his welcome already lost us both Mike Hopkins and a significant amount of recruiting momentum.

That said, the memories of the good times will be the ones that stick with me. He may have been a curmudgeon, but he was our curmudgeon, and any Central NYer would go to bat for him any day. All the best to him and his family in retirement.

Just my wife and kids this…

Just my wife and kids this year, but that's no reason not to have a fun menu. Hot wings, mini calzones, and a crudite platter with a growler of Porter from our local brewery.

I have no dog in the SB fight this year, but still pretty pumped!

Syracuse is 4-0 and broke into the Coaches Poll this week! Not bad for a team picked to be in the basement of the ACC Atlantic division.

Seconding this. I was premed…

Seconding this. I was premed at UM almost two decades ago and I majored in Italian. He should do what he likes.

Bio-related specialties are easy because so many of the premed requirements overlap, but if he's more interested in history, computer science, classics, etc, then he should major in that. Med schools these days care that you can keep up in sciences and do well on the MCAT, but don't require science to be your life. In fact, they tend to look quite well upon students with more well-rounded experiences and those who don't use their undergraduate time as nothing but a launching pad to med school.

Best of luck to him, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

I'd have to agree with…

I'd have to agree with McLeft. An ACL injury, which (extremely weird things excepted) would be the biggest concern, involves destabilization of the knee joint. If the wrap/brace does not include the knee, unlikely to be ACL. There wouldn't be much point in a walking boot with an ACL injury as it does nothing to stabilize the knee joint. Much more likely to be ankle, which is at least a quicker heal.

I'm from Syracuse, NY, so…

I'm from Syracuse, NY, so the first answer has to be Mike Hart (technically from just south of Syracuse). I got to UM 2 years before he did. I knew about him from back home, and was super excited when he separated himself from the rest of the RB room during his freshman year. Still my favorite Wolverine of all time.

Also, Danny Schayes, Dorsey Levens, and Will Allen.

Hutchinon's dominance is a big help. If he could have a year a la Chase Winovich benefiting from Rashan Gary double teams, that would be super.

Big question is how much of that performance is down to uncharacteristically poor Wisconsin O-Line play.

If you want real fun, see if you can find a rotisserie attachment for your grill. I just picked one up recently - did a chicken 2 weekends ago, and pork tenderloin last weekend. It's hard to replicate that with regular grill/stove/oven.

Same basic thing here. I'm…

Same basic thing here. I'm north of Chicago in the burbs but it's the same story all over the area - cases have doubled in the last couple weeks. Things were reasonable about 3 weeks ago, then levels skyrocketed quickly. All of the schools by us have sent kids back home from the hybrid learning platforms because there were too many cases in the area AND in the schools. Hopefully it's a short-lived thing and we can get back on track soon, but I can't say I blame them looking at the numbers.

Sounds like you're a bit too…

Sounds like you're a bit too young to partake in the brews, but go to Grizzly Peak and get a hangar steak sandwich (loose usage of the term sandwich). It is my favorite dish I've found in Ann Arbor.

That nice pull block to spring Burkhead? Looking great, he's transitioning to the NFL well.

I'm not convinced that little girl is actually a drummer.

This was my first home game…

This was my first home game during freshman year. Like a dumbass freshman I forgot a hat AND sunscreen and it was of course blazing hot with the sun right in your face in the student section. So I had a horrible sunburn for the first week of classes (great way to meet new people), but it was totally worth it to see that finish.

I grew up in Syracuse in the 80s/90s. The SU/Georgetown rivalry fostered my love of sports more than just about anything else I experienced during those years. No matter how much we hated losing to Georgetown, John Thompson was just a classy guy. RIP Coach.

His piece on Tiger Woods from 2016 is the best sports article I've ever read.

If you plan to play mostly…

If you plan to play mostly portable, you can get a Switch Lite for only $200. Has similar functionality and actually better battery life, but the joy cons are not removable and it doesn't have a dock, therefore no TV connectivity. Worth it to people who don't care if it's on a big screen or not. I thought I'd usually play mine on the TV when I got it, but almost always just grab it and go these days...

Weird, you don't see too…

Weird, you don't see too many Syracuse connections here. I think I'm your same boat - grew up in Syracuse then undergrad at Michigan.

I was just in Orlando for vacation with my kids (guess where...), can attest it's better than Syracuse. Enjoy the bowl game, must be great to have it local!

Can someone explain why that…

Can someone explain why that second offside was on Metellus? He got back onside before the linemen moved or the ball was snapped...

But would we really want to…

But would we really want to win that way? Lincoln Riley, fine. But Urban? The guy is a world class scumbag who ruins discipline and culture in the long run.

Maybe I'm naive thinking that our program is "above that", but I know I would not be excited to have to root for that guy given his history.

ACL is actually exactly what…

ACL is actually exactly what I was worried about when I saw that play. Hyperextension due to rapid deceleration is probably the most common mechanism for that injury.

One point I haven't seen…

One point I haven't seen brought up is socioeconomic status. I work as a pediatrician in an area of Chicago where I see kids of varying financial backgrounds, and definitely see fewer and fewer kids of means whose parents are willing to sign the forms; they're way more wary of the risks. This didn't seem to be the case 20 years ago when I was in high school. That being said, the kids from the more rural areas tend to still play at similar rates.

To be fair, I'm sure that in certain parts of the country (largely the southeast), the tradition will be more likely to continue since they've always been hotbeds of football talent and it's so ingrained in the culture. But I have a feeling that a higher percentage of the kids playing nationwide will be from less affluent families who may view athletic participation as a possible ticket out of financial difficulties as opposed to solely a recreational activity.
