I remember standing in section 19 with my eyes closed, waiting for the crowd's reaction. Also silently praying that he would make it as he was having a rough go of it that hot, sunny Saturday afternoon. Phil Brabbs is an inspiration to all of us.
GO BLUE!!!

My favorite place kicker. He could do it all: tackle on kickoffs, become a threat on fake FGs, hit the occasional long, clutch FG. With the possible exception of reliably making to routine kicks. [sigh]

Big exception you noted there.

Also he beat cancer.
I’m shocked this game won your poll, Ace. It was a brutal watch at the time.

Michigan won! Now, relax. (I wonder if anyone's gotten a heart attack watching a repeat game like this.)

Thanks, Ace.

I remember when he missed the short FG with under 2 minutes to go. The couple behind me got up to leave and I told them to sit down because we had 3 time outs and we were going to win. We were seated on the spot of the kick 12 rows up on the Michigan side. That woman about broke my back when he hit that kick. Took an hour to get out of the bowl. One of my most favorite memories. Got my official season tickets 3 years later.
Go Blue!!!!

Loved it when Ace brought up Lloyd Carr’s record in close games while leading in the 4th Q. We got lucky on the Braylon fumbles, especially the “possession” that was fumbled forward for a first down. Normally that shit happens to us. Thanks Ace, great choice.

Man, what a game. One of first and few live sports moments I’ve been at where the yelling was so loud, the sound was just fuzz, like being at a rock concert.
Also, to anybody who sits behind the uprights, you have one job to do. Cheer when the ball goes through the uprights and do not cheer if it misses. Those of us with lines of sight parallel to the posts are counting on you. Too many let us down cheering for one of the misses, so I was too nervous to take your word for it when he actually hit the game winner.

Most entertaining sporting event I’ve ever attended.
First week of college. Quit my job to attend.

There's nothing quite like the roar of the crowd once they know the kick is true.

Such a crazy game to attend. I had lived next door to Brabbs while in the dorms and I felt awful for him on those two misses so it was great to see him come through at the end. I also remember our section chanting "Heisman" at Jackson after he broke up yet another pass to Williams. A terrifying game in the moment but still great to see.

I was at the game too. I remember the crowd sarcastically (or maybe sincerely) cheering during halftime when the practice kicks went thru.

At the time, Brabbs lived in the same apartment building I lived in. Later that day, I left a note on his door that said 'YOU DA MAN!'

This was my first home game during freshman year. Like a dumbass freshman I forgot a hat AND sunscreen and it was of course blazing hot with the sun right in your face in the student section. So I had a horrible sunburn for the first week of classes (great way to meet new people), but it was totally worth it to see that finish.

Helluva choice, definitely agreed with this over the 93 game only because it's an added bonus and now we basically get two Washington games other than a live one last weekend that we would have loved even more

Thanks Ace. I just watched on the replay. It was one of the few games, during my years in the _uckeye state, that I didn't make it back up to AA. I did however get to watch it with a Washington grad (that I watched the previous year with) and a handful of salivating _uckeyes, so that added some spice to the spectacle.
