Your question for Warde to ask Jim

Submitted by Wolverine 73 on December 9th, 2020 at 8:15 AM

So if you could plant one question for Warde to ask Harbaugh in his interview, what would it be?  I suppose I would go with: “I need a coach who can beat Ohio State and make this a rivalry again.  You have not.  Can you be that coach?  If so, what specifically do you need by way of support to accomplish that?”

Another one might be:  “What happened to the fiery coach I hired several years ago, and can we get him back?”

Or maybe a little thing like: “What does Bob Shoop do and why are we paying him?”

I'm not concerned because it's none of my business. He hasn't done or said anything self-destructive publicly. He's *not* a friend or family member, or even an acquaintance. Speculating about whether he has mental health issues isn't productive or appropriate, in my opinion.

no jon, it was more of a light-hearted exasperation and not a serious question.  unlike you, i actually know jim harbaugh and am concerned about what is going on with him on a personal level.  granted, i haven't seen him since football camp last summer (2019), but i really get the feeling something isn't right.

Not a doctor, but unfortunately I’ve had more than a little experience with severe depression and anxiety and I find some of his behaviors to be very concerning.

I just hope whatever happens he is able to get what he needs for the sake of his health.

Negative speculation on the internet about the mental health of somebody you know personally is as low as pretending to have been a prosecutor, so I guess I believe that you actually know Jim Harbaugh slightly more than I believe that you used to be a prosecutor, guy who doesn't know the legal definition of homicide.

Something is not right doesn't mean that it has to do with medical issues or prescription drugs. He clearly isn't where he wants to be at this point in his career. The Harbaugh you guys remember is someone who still believed that the effort and energy he put into the job, camps, trips, offensive strategy etc would directly correlate to success on the field. This didn't happen.

Anyone that has been successful at one position to then be promoted to a manager role knows how difficult this can be. Harbaugh is not well suited to be a manger and needs to be directly involved at some capacity. When he gave up the offense that was the last real connection where he could affect the play on the field. He made this worse by not giving up full control and then you had a situation (collaboration) that we have seen over the last couple of years.

If he is to come back I think the only way he is successful is if he takes full control of the offense with assistants that can teach it to the players. This is why Jedd Fisch teaching Harbaugh's offense was successful.

You really believe "Jim Harbaugh's Offense" can be successful?  Maybe if you have Andrew Luck, or a star running back that can get 9 yards when you call a "RB draw" on 3rd and 8.

The only way Harbaugh will be successful is to hire an OC or DC that knows what they are doing and then leave them alone.  The best coaches do this.  Bobby Bowden, Dabo, Saban, etc.  Great coaches hire coordinators as good or better coaches than they are and then leave them alone.  They hold them accountable, but they don't handcuff them.

See 2016 Citrus Bowl. Doesn't need to be the same Stanford offense just one that he is implementing. What hasn't worked is the cooperative approach that he reworks 2 - 3 games into the season every year. Will he hire a OC that will be independant? Hasn't happened yet so why not go back to what he does best and that is to coach the offense.

The harsh reality is that Michigan football has been a dumpster fire since Carr left. Sure, there were a few years where the fire looked to be snuffed out but it was only out on the surface. Something is rotten in Schemy Hall. Three different coaches yet we end up seeing the same results. Urban Meyer is right, blow the whole thing up and start fresh.

Question for Warde:

"What on earth makes you think not making a decision, not being more transparent, and not LEADING is good for this organization? I'll hang up and listen..."

what is your strategy for recruiting and what do you need to implement it? how are you going to rebuild relationships in Michigan?

what staff support do you need to build the best NIL program for our student athletes?

what do you need to make this a top 5 program?

Easy.  "Two creams, two sugars, like always?"

You are acting like Warde is his boss in the traditional sense.  They don't live in our world.
