Where is Kevin Warren?

How has this guy not had a press conference yet? This is turning into a shit show and is embarrassing for the big ten (did they vote?). I don't care what side you are on for playing or postponing/canceling until 2021, this is a lack of leadership. He will not have a job for very long the way he is dealing with this.

As I stated before most of the noise is coming from 2 schools Ohio State let them leave for the ACC and Nebraska let them leave for the Big 12. More money for the rest of the conference to get each year from the TV deal about 9 mil a team.

Oh, he will be fine.  They let Jim Delaney do dumb stuff for a long time without ever having  consequence. I feel that adding Rutgers to the conference is worse than this.

"Did they vote"?  Really?

The commissioner doesn't make decisions, the schools make the decisions and the commissioner announces them.  If the season was postponed, it was postponed because a majority of the schools wanted to postpone it.

A majority of the schools undoubtedly (a) did not want to have fall football and (b) are happy to use the commissioner for political cover now that the decision has been made.  This episode isn't going to get the commissioner fired, it's going to get him a huge bonus and a salary boost next year.  He is handling it exactly the way the schools want it to be handled:  quietly and firmly.

This is especially true given the fact that this is an issue where most of the Presidents probably are not in alignment with most of their major donors.  Do you think Dr. Schlissel wants Craig Ross to know that he might have voted against having a football season?  Certainly not.

Michigan's president is an immunologist, which doesn't bode well for extracurricular events of any kind when a pandemic caused by a rogue virus sweeps the earth and leaves more than the Big House's seating capacity dead in our country.

I totally get the Big 10's decision.

How many times have we heard these statements in our lives from others? 1. "When in doubt, don't.", 2. "Better safe than sorry.", 3. "Listen to your gut.", 4. In head vs. heart matters remember God gave you a brain.", and lastly 5. "First do no harm."

I wish Wayne Duke was still Big 10 commissioner to see how he would handle league football programs vociferously opposed to this decision. Justin Fields has been entitled since arriving in Columbus. The dude took all online classes before the pandemic!! He probably has meals delivered, apartment cleaned, an OSU corporate vehicle and credit card on top of other pleasures that I won't get into. The only time he has to go onto campus is to "practice" (please hear the voice of Allen Iverson when you read that word).

Players have asked for a seat at the table in making this decision. They do not belong to a union (yet).

I've had season tickets since Rick Leach's freshman year. I will sorely miss football this fall! The ACC, SEC and Big 12 are misleading their fans and players by saying they are going to play games. Do you think North Carolina thinks they are going to play games today? Their student newspaper in bold print referred to the last week along Franklin Street as a "Clusterfuck".

I think we are going to see more cluster thrusts as the SEC, ACC and Big 12 move forward. Get your popcorn and watch it happen.

"Players have asked for a seat at the table in making this decision. They do not belong to a union (yet)."

The very moment a single player sits at the table next to university presidents, athletic directors, and Warren, they will have a defacto union - organized, or not.  So, until they are a formally recognized and legally registered union, the NCAA will ensure they do not even see that conference room...

Jesus I get so sick of the "he's an Immunologist" crap, like that somehow gives him ultimate authority over decisions. He's better informed than you and I but hardly the ultimate authority.

You want to know the easiest way to get 10 different opinions on one case? Get 9 doctors in one room and ask their opinions.

Yeah this is a non-issue for me. Season was a cancelled last week. It’s still cancelled this week. Honestly, being silent while a bunch of people whine and complain about it isn’t a bad move.

Maybe next week, once all the crying has quieted down, he can put out a statement reiterating that it’s cancelled and saying he understands the frustration of all those affected.

Other than that, this is a true nothingburger. People need to move on. Focus on your kids or your wife/partner, get outside more, etc. Your life is not football, and it will be ok.

Speak for yourself ... my fall life is mostly about college football.  Love college football.  Gut punch not watching Michigan take the field in autumn.

At least we have some great golf this fall ... FedEx playoffs, US Open and then the Masters in November.  Sucks not having football but my golf game should improve.

I don’t care on Kevin Warren so much, but I think Schlissel owes it to his student athletes to at least have the balls to meet them all in person and explain to them why he voted to cancel their seasons.

I’m not saying he made a bad decision. He didn’t. And maybe he’s already planning to meet with all of them. But if you’re going to shut down the activities that your student athletes have devoted countless hours of their lives towards, you owe it to them to meet them on their turf, look them square in the eye and explain “this is why I did it” and “this is the data driven behind my decision.”

Do you mean all student athletes or just football? Also, by in person, I’m assuming you meant via video conference?

How many total student athletes are there in fall/winter sports? Maybe around 1000 or more? So they’d have to organize an event like that I’m sure. And when did they cancel the season? Oh that’s right, they cancelled it a week ago.

Maybe give them a little time to get this accomplished before going after Schlissel and other leaders?

And who is to say that is not in the works? Like I said, it's only been a week. Give them a chance to get it done.

If you're suggesting he needed to talk to players before, I disagree. The decision needed to be based on science. I'm sure many players wanted to play, and a few didn't. It's irrelevant to the current pandemic and what the science is telling us to do. I'm completely fine with the presidents making decisions without player input. That's what they get paid to do.

Kevin Warren blew it on BTN early last week when he refused to answer any of those "pressing" questions. It was a very bad look and crickets since then which just makes the optics worse. He gets 2 thumbs down.

When 75% of schools go to online learning this fall, this will be a non-story. Of course, those outraged and demanding answers from Warren won’t acknowledge how ridiculous their outrage! was just 3 weeks prior.

Schools that choose to play football when the student body is absent and all classes are online will simply prove that cfb is a business and we can put to rest the fantasy of the “student-athlete” for big revenue college sports.

I would not be against this hypothetical,  essentially manufactured bubble scenario- and then we could at least stop pretending SEC, OSU, etc are playing school, and UM and others could decide to join the party or not.
