What is your mythical Heisman ballot atm?

For me:

1. Jayden Daniels (LSU)

2. Marvin Harrison, Jr. (OSU)

3. Michael Penix, Jr. (Wash.)

Penix could move up if he shows out in the Pac12 Championship game.

As awesome as that would be, Braun at Northwestern should be winning that award this year.

They will end this season with a winning record, finished second in the division, all after a massive scandal that we all honestly thought would crater the program for decades. Braun probably got this team to a better finish than if Fitzgerald were even still around.

Braun deserves the recognition.

In all seriousness, I would have picked Harrison as the favorite to win the Heisman until yesterday. But The Game demonstrated that a receiver, no matter how freakishly good, is rarely a difference maker - he certainly wasn’t, though he had a great game.

1. Bo Nix

2. Jayden Daniels

3. Michael Penix Jr.

Statistically Daniels is the clear cut winner, but I think Nix’s stats plus the impact on his team being a playoff team (this is assuming that they beat Washington in the PAC-12 Title game) puts him over the edge.

If Washington wins, I’d give it to Daniels

I haven’t watched LSU, but how do you have a Heisman caliber QB and three losses? FSU, Ole Miss and Bama are quality teams, but shouldn’t the best player in college football lift you to victory?  Unless the rest of LSU is trash I don’t see how you give it to the Jayden Daniels.   What games do they lose without him?  Same sort of goes for MHJ.  He had a couple of big plays in the game, but with McCord throwing to him, he wasn’t the difference.  Maybe OSU would have lost to PSU without him.

Washington sucked two years ago and they were pretty good last year with Penix and are undefeated with him this year.  He appears to be the difference. Washington has 5-6 losses without Penix.

I agree with this mention of Hornung, who did it all, except for one thing: ND was nationally popular, but in 1956 Michigan was 7-2, vs 2-8; M finished second in the Big Ten; AP ranked #7, and beat Ohio State, who finished ranked #15. The losses were to #9 MSU and #12 Minnesota.

Jim Brown was 5th in the Heisman voting (yeah THAT Jim Brown), and Michigan's great Ron Kramer was 6th.

Final AP top ten that year were:

1. Oklahoma

2. Tennessee

3. Iowa (!)

4. Georgia Tech

5. Texas A&M

6. Miami (YTM)

7. Michigan

8. Syracuse

9. MSU

10. Oregon State

This is a particularly ironic thing to say the year after Caleb Williams won. Daniels is the reason they don’t have 6 losses. I hate that the Heisman has stopped being “the most outstanding player” and instead turned into “QB with the best stats among Top 5 teams”.

Not the way I type. Usually it's type, stop, backspace to correct typo, go back one letter too far but don't realize it and start typing again, realize it and backspace, go one letter too far again but catch it this time, start typing in the middle of a word and my mind messes it up, backspace and fix the typos, finally say screw it and type atm.

  1. Bo Nix
  2. Jayden Daniels
  3. Michael Penix
  4. Marvin Harrison

I think the winner will be whoever wins the Pac-12 championship.

Jayden Daniels is great and all, but so many of his 50 touchdowns have been against teams without a pulse. Obviously, he had 1.75 amazing games as well in losses to Ole Miss and Alabama, but I think the combo of his record and that most of his best games were against severely outclassed teams is something to consider.

Bo Nix has had an incredible season and is the face of arguably the best Oregon team ever. Like Daniels, he has also played incredibly well against the better teams in his conference - but won all but 1 of them (which was an epic finish). He also gets a chance to have one more great game next week, and can close in on the current 7 TD gap on Daniels.

Penix started the season on fire - just like the Huskies as an overall team, but since the huge win vs. Oregon, he has fallen back to earth somewhat.

Marvin Harrison is an incredible talent and arguably the best WR talent to enter the NFL draft since Megatron in 2007 or AJ Green/Julio Jones in 2011, but to win the Heisman in this day and age, you need to have a truly transcendent season at your position if you are not a QB. 1200 yards and 14TDs is great, but not Heisman good - especially when you lose to your rival in your last game before the votes are tallied. Had he scored another TD on that last drive on Saturday, I think his Heisman hype train would have officially been in full swing - especially if he had a great Big Ten championship.

Maserati Marv doesn’t deserve a trip to NYC. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was more productive in his sophomore year and was a 3rd team all-American.

Yeah boggled by Marvin Harrison is the best ever since Moss.  Weird.  He is a great WR.  I can name 10 the same or better in the last 5 years. It's down year for WRs when his teammate EE is considered the 2nd best Wr in the land? Guy dropped the first pass thrown to him and was a ghost most of the game.

Malik Nabers has 1500+ yards (LSU)  same amount of TDs (14) as MH

Troy Franklin has 1350+ yards (Oregon) same amount of TDs (14) as MH

Ricky friggin White has 1300+ @ UNLV

Rome Odunze has 1300+ yards (Washington) with 13 TDs

MHJ has 1200 yards and 14 TDs.  He is no god. Also wasn't first to the ball on either INT yesterday.

Daniels has gaudy numbers, but not against great competition, and FSU and Bama largely shut him down. Bo has the better team record by far, plus he decidedly outplayed last years Heisman winner. They both had a 6 td game, but home vs Georgia State isnt as good as @ ASU. Advantage Nix.

I'd say your list is pretty close, but I would put Bo Nix in the 2 spot and move out MHJ. Not saying he doesn't deserve to be invited, and Jayden Daniels may not deserve to be #1 due to team record and what Nix/Penix will be playing for this weekend - but I think that is the top 3 in some order. On the other hand, Daniels stat line is insane, so who knows what they will consider when voting this year.

Does nobody remember Bo Nix at Auburn? Meh at best. He's a perfect fit for what Oregon does, but that doesn't make you the best player in the country.

Jayden Daniels is spectacular as a college QB. LSU's defense is bad. They have 3 losses to teams that have combined to go 33-3. They lost to Ole Miss 55-49, Bama 42-28, FSU 45-24. Nobody's stopped him, maybe FSU in the first game of the year. They've just outlasted him.
