TomVH: Demetrius Hart Update

Submitted by TomVH on

Chad Simmons from Scout tweeted that Demetrius will be making his decision next week, and I confirmed that with Demetrius tonight. I'll update when I have more. He is still going to Alabama this weekend.

Good sign for us IMO! If he was seriously giving Bama some consideration, he would probably want more time after his visit with them to mull all the options over. If nothing else, at least the Dee Hart saga will be over shortly and we can all stopmsitting on pins and needles. Thanks as always for the update TomVH.

These kids emotions run high after a visit and their opinions of the most recently visited school will be highest right after that visit, aka high opinions for Bama next week when he makes his decision. This is of course provided that he enjoys the game and Bama wins, both of which are very likely. This makes me more nervous than ever, but I'm still keepin' my maize and blue fingers crossed.

I'm not saying he's choosing Michigan, but if he's already set the date, doesn't it likely mean that he's pretty much already made his decision?  I mean, his visit to Alabama could potentially pursuade him, but he's already visited there and knows all about that school.  I don't think anything spectacular is going to happen on his visit to change his mind if he's already made it.  That is, I don't think anything spectacular that is not a recruiting violation is going to happen - - having smoking hot girls show me a good time on campus would likely change my mind about anything . . .

He's had that teammate of his whispering "Alabama" in ear and  Ingram is more than likely to leave Alabama after this year (unless an NFL strike is 100% inevitable which it may be) so Saban is telling him he can step right into the lineup versus our situation with five guys already in the running back queue. The timing on this one makes me nervous.

and I hope Dee is too.  But has anybody thought about the possibility that the only reason he is going to visit Alabama this weekend is to get sideline passes to watch 2 top 10 teams (Alabama and Florida) play?  If I was going to Michigan, I wouldn't make that known before I had a chance to see this big game.  I would wait until after the visit, make sure I was OK with my previous decision after seeing two of the nations best teams play, and then put on the block M hat next week.....

What young kid who loves football would not want the opportunity to watch Alabama / Florida for free on the sidelines?  Hell, I am 43 and a UofM fan and I would love to be on the sidelines watching this game for free, as well....

Recruits talk to TomVH in confidence.  I'd rather Tom refrain from giving his opinion, out of respect for the recruits and so future recruits know he won't go and broadcast his "insider information" that was told to him off-the-record.  Of course, keep all the on-the-record stuff coming, Tom!

I don't think Turbo's request is out of bounds.  Tom is professional enough not to leak any information told to him in confidence, but recruits also don't always have their minds 100% made up and Tom can get a feel for which way a recruit is leaning before the decision becomes official.

He has been high on each team he's visited immediately after the visit.  I don't think he'll make any rash decisions -- hopefully the fact that he already set a date for his announcement implies that he already knows who he's signing with (and hopefully that'd be the team that he has already taken an official visit with).

Well hopefully its late next week and not on Sunday after the game.

I don't like the fact that its a big game at Bama and one of his best friends is in his ear to join him.
