Yes those are the two

Yes those are the two options.

I don't understand where the

I don't understand where the "we all agree we've never seen this before" stuff comes from. Alabama ran an almost identical play just this season against LSU.

http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/11/9/7180957/alabama-tric…

Patirots informed the officials as is the rule. Officials informed the defense as is the rule. Defense did not adjust in time. I don't see how this was cheating, even in spirit. If that play was cheating "in spirit" then running no-huddle is cheating in spirit.

Brady Hoke used me as an object.

This means he can sell the house outright without any outstanding debts on it. Would make a coaching move that much easier on him and his family. I'm not saying this definitely means he's coming to Michigan, but I think it's a very promising sign.

The appearance of effort

Honestly what bothered me most about going for two after the meaningless late touchdown was that it was completely pointless. They would have been down 3 scores whether they kicked the PAT, got the conversion, or failed the conversion. Yes technically being down 17 instead of 18 or 19 technically meant they only needed 2 TDs with XP and a FG rather than 2 TDs with a conversion and a FG or 3 TDs, but that's a ridiculous point. They would have needed THREE onside kicks for that to become an issue, and running an extra play before even getting the first is just putting more starters at risk of injury. Especially when you punted just a few minutes before.

Doing meaningless, stupid things to make it look like you're still trying, when you've already called ahead for seating at Bennigan's for the post-game. At least he's a great guy.

Don't really understand the MSU "elite D" talk

After these first two games at least:

In WMU-MSU

            WMU offense yards 204

            WMU defense yards 297

            WMU offense points 13

            WMU defense allowed 13

In WMU-Nicholls State (FCS)

            WMU offense yards 485

            WMU defense yards 447

            WMU offense points 23

            WMU defense allowed 27

In USF-MSU

            USF offense yards 155

            USF defense yards 265

            USF offense points 6

            USF defense allowed 7

In USF-McNeese State (FCS)

            USF offense yards 342

            USF defense yards 424

            USF offense points 14

            USF defense allowed 41

MSU's "elite" defense held their first two opponents to a combined 19 points. Great, but FCS opponents held those offenses to a combined 37 points. The MSU offense is even worse than I thought, with 20 total points in the first two games. FCS opponents scored 68 points against the same two opponents. So vs. MSU, opponents are averaging 9.5 points on offense, 10 points given up by defense. Against FCS foes, MSU opponents are averaging 18.5 points on offense, and 34 points given up by defense.

MSU Opponents vs. MSU vs. FCS
Avg Offense PF 9.5 18.5
Avg Defense PA 10 34
+/- -0.5 -15.5

I can't see UNC going

I can't see UNC going anywhere without Duke. FOr those saying that "it wouldn't be a big deal, just do out of conference games," no. Would you be ok with Michigan and Ohio State being in different conferences? Of course not. No amount of OOC games would make that ok. Michigan-Ohio State is the biggest football rivalry in sports, but the UNC-Duke rivalry is transcendent onto another level. They are 8 miles away. We share the same dry cleaners and apartment complexes. They're private, we're public. The basketball rivalry speaks for itself. It would be a HUGE deal to lose UNC-Duke. They are the yin to our yang.

I don't buy the "victim" thing

Original article on Manti and his inspiring rise/story. From before Stanford game.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865564585/Manti-Teo-A-career-that-ha…

From the piece:

"Lennay Kekua was a Stanford student and Cardinal football fan when the two exchanged glances, handshakes and phone numbers that fateful weekend three seasons ago."

"“Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there. But within the last year, they became a couple."

"Kekua, who eventually graduated from Stanford, was, in fact, doing so well that she was released from the hospital on Sept. 10. And Brian Te’o was among those congratulating her via telephone."

Raises questions like WHO DID HE EXCHANGE GLANCES WITH? WHO DID HIS DAD TALK TO ON THE PHONE? WHO DID HE MEET UP WITH IN HAWAII?

Debunked?

Immanent: inherent
Imminent:

Immanent: inherent

Imminent: impending

They are two different words.

You know what I hate? When

You know what I hate? When people correct grammar/spelling incorrectly.

Example: Some girl commented on something I wrote about the "immanent nature" of something with "Lol considering immanent isn't a word, I think you meant imminent. But we all knew what you meant ;)"

No bitch, I meant inherent. Not impending. Chill out. Same when people correct someone's use of "irony" regardless of whether it was used correctly.

Also there was this one time some guy made an MGoBlog post about the word humbling. Fuck that guy.

I don't think basketball runs

I don't think basketball runs into the same problems as much, since, if an athlete wants to be done with college after a year or just not go, he can go straight to the NBA. Not so much in football, so regardless of desire (or sometimes, ability/intelligence) the athletes are forced to go through at least a couple years of college.

As far as I knew during my time there, the basketball players were taking real classes. Easy A's sometimes, sure (what college student hasn't?), but they were at least legitimate. I even had Wes Miller in one of my mid-level Math classes.

Yay

You think we'd at least be better at football.

I think the worst thing about

I think the worst thing about all of this is that my first thought was "Oh cool! Another sweet Michigan football video set ti that kickass Rilo Kelly song!"

From the website (and med classmate who's an alum):

The answer leads all the way back to 1896 when Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College changed its name to Virginia Polytechnic Institute. With the change came the necessity for writing a new cheer and a contest for such a purpose was held by the student body. Senior O.M. Stull won first prize for his "Hokie" yell (Old Hokie Cheer below) which is still used today.

Later, when asked if "Hokie" had any special meaning, Stull explained the word was solely the product of his imagination and was used only as an attention-getter for his yell. It soon became a nickname for all Tech teams and for those people loyal to Tech athletics. The official university school colors - Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange - also were introduced in 1896. The colors were chosen by a committee because they made a 'unique combination' not worn elsewhere at the time. The official definition of "hokie" is "a loyal Virginia Tech Fan".

The Cheer:

Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hy!
Tech, Tech, VPI
Sol-a-rex, Sol-a-rah
Poly Tech Vir-gin-ia
Ray rah VPI
Team! Team! Team!

What's more, if Alabama wins

What's more, if Alabama wins a sloppy, low scoring game (like the last one) and OkSt dominates Stanford, does the AP start looking at OkST as champs?

From what I've heard and similar events I've been to in NOLA, it is usually pretty easy to scalp tickets outside. My roommate is a VT grad so we'll be roadtripping down.

We're being projected to the Sugar against Houston by CBS and SBN. Which, winnable lolz.

If I'm not mistaken, a team

If I'm not mistaken, a team doesn't have to win its conference to play in the MNC game. It all has to do with your resume and BCS ranking. And among the teams with one loss, ours to a top-10 team on the road wouldn't have looked too shabby.

In another universe where Kirk Ferentz is still Kirk Ferentz, I think we'd be ranked in the top 5, ready to take a spot in the top 2 if things fall right this weekend. C'est la vie.

I think what hurts the most
