TomVH: Bri'onte Dunn Update

Submitted by TomVH on

Ohio RB Bri'onte Dunn just told an OSU website that he's reopening his recruitment. I wasn't going to say anything for a few days but I spoke with Bri'onte's father yesterday.

His father told me that there's a possibility they may be visiting Michigan on Saturday. When I asked him about the NCAA investigation at OSU he told me they were watching it, and they would wait to see what happens with everything. He said then that Bri'onte's commitment was just a verbal commitment and nothing was set in stone, so it sounds like they made this decision within the last 24 hours.

It also sounds like Michigan will have a shot. They had planned on visiting a few weeks prior but couldn't make it. The visit Saturday isn't 100% either, so we'll see if it happens.

But even the fact that their top commitment is publicly wavering is awesome. Whether he comes here (which I certainly hope) or goes somewhere else, as long he walks away from the cheating cheaters down south and possibly starts a tidalwave of doubt in the minds of other recruits/commits then rock on.

When asked if the Jim Tressel news is affecting his recruitment, he said: "Yeah, I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just going to take my visits like anybody else would do. I don't know what's going to happen with the NCAA investigation, so I'm just going to sit back and see what happens before making a final decision." What are you most-concerned about? "I don't want him to get fired. And I don't want a bowl ban."

I was wondering about Dunn when the news of the NOA broke.  I really hope we can get him on campus and the coaches can work their magic.

That is awesome. I don't know how the staff knew that his recruitment was shaky when they started recruiting him, but it looks like their efforts could pay huge dividends. He would be perfect for this offense, and the power.

Even prior to things getting so bad for Tressel Dunn was saying he was going to visit Michigan, though he hadn't made it up yet (I don't think).

I'm no scout, but this kid looks like a true impact player in his highlights. He reminds me of Chris Wells to some extent.
