THJ coming to NY!
hard worker--great Mich representitive. Oh, and just a shout out to all who were so certain he'd be a 2nd round pick (at best) and a D league player.
I really love this pick, tons of nationally televised games. I can't wait to see Timmy in the league.
Bleh. Wish him well, but the Knicks are trending downward. Hopefully they reboot soon so Hardaway has a chance to succeed.
The Knicks just had their best season since 1996-97.
They will be a playoff team but many guys are aging and they have no cap space. They are definitely not up-and-coming and will almost surely not have as good of a regular season as they did this past season.
Love the sig. Fellow Pacers fan?
Indeed. I know next to nothing about Hill, but our administration does well when not drafting white guys.
Luckily, Plumlee went before we could snatch him.
Apparently Hill was a reach, but might be able to contribute a bit immediately. That's all I've really heard. Hoping to make another good run next year.
By #1 Austin Croshere fan I assume you mean 1/1 Austin Croshere fan...
God Shammgod likes him.
Seriously though. Cro has taken over some color commentary work from Slick Leonard, and it is a welcome change.
Heat aren't going anywhere, and the Bulls and Pacers get back their best players from the year before. The Celtics are fading but the Nets are looking to take their best players and their spot in the Eastern heirarchy.
The Knicks are financially hamstrung. They can't outstar the Heat and they are the oldest contender in the East, so they can't wait anyone out. A healthy Amare won't be the difference, and likely won't ever come to pass anyway.
Whether you like them or nor it's kind of hard to characterize the Knicks as trending downward - do you have any knowledge of their recent history?
The one thing they needed was some speed and athleticism and they just got some.
The Knicks got the 2nd seed in the East with smoke and mirrors. Anyone who watched the Eastern Conference Semis knows that the Pacers were clearly superior. The Heat and maybe the Bulls with Rose are superior to the Pacers. All 3 of those teams are younger and have more flexibility to improve than the Knicks. This doesn't take into account the rapidly improving Nets, Cavs, and Wizards.
The Knicks have absolutely peaked in their current configuration. So yes, they are trending downward.
Just caught that you're a Pacer fan - that explains it. They do have a good team.
I'm more than capable of giving an unbiased critique of one of my team's rivals if you are insinuating otherwise.
I never said the Knicks were bad, just that the Heat, Pacers, Bulls with Rose, and now the 5 All-Star Nets are better. I think you'll find that in line with the general national opinion.
My other point is that the Knicks aren't in position to improve their team in virtually any way.
It's frustrating that my views keep getting negged without anyone engaging in debate.
Love how jacked Knicks fans are over that pick!
As a NY resident who has been totally indifferent to NYC sports, I may have to adopt the Knicks
I have to say that it was really cool to see the Knicks fans go nuts in a good way for Tim Hardaway Jr. Somehow, it made me think of some of the moments he had over two seasons at Crisler.
Good luck in New York, Tim, and always Go Blue!
It was pretty amusing to hear Spike Lee talk about how the senior Hardaway used to have his way with the Knicks.
For sure. As brutal as NY fans typically are at drafts (thinking Jets fans NFL), really nice to see the love for Tim. I imagine the memories of his dad shredding the Knicks has something to do with it, but those memories will make the fans welcome Tim with high expectations. With his character and work ethic, high expectations are a good thing.
I may actually have to listen to the local sports broadcasts during NBA season.
And as we got closer to the Knicks pick, I remembered that Hardaway was already featured on the local pre-draft sports report tonight... Suggestions that he might go there?
Might actually go to a Knicks game once or twice this year just to see Timmy.
I've lived 10 blocks away from MSG for 2 years...will probably finally go to a Knicks game.
I think the only other frst-rounder he's ever coached is Joe Alexander.
Surprised he went so early. Great news!
he was going to be selected at any point after 20 according to most 'experts'
TIMAAAAYYYY can learn to play some good D from Shumpert! and then some good face-up offense from Melo!
Awesome situation for him! Go Knicks and THJ!
Now he can pass to Melo and watch as he takes all the shots.
NY is where Timmy has played some of his best basketball the past few years in tournaments there. Hope he keeps that up!
Great for Timmy. Maybe I'll go to two Pistons games next year. Hope the recruits are taking notice.
You realized your dream Tim congrats!
Lakers, Jazz, Knicks, and whoever is playing the Pistons.
Congrats to Joe D for curing me of my Pistons apathy.
Trey really is a great fit for Utah, even if Utah isn't his dream city. That much talent doesn't often come with that kind of character and work ethic. I think that while obviously 98% of the local community will not look like him, 100% will embrace him as a tremendous player and person. He is a pretty easy guy to root for.
I am really happy for THJ's position in the draft; I just wish a different team had been there.
With the media spotlight of a thousand suns on the Melodrama* and the Nightamar'e*, THJ might actually get some breathing room to develop, and not have to feel like he's the savior of the franchise.
* Yeah, I said it.
As someone whose NBA interest is going to pique next year, I am thrilled about this. The Knicks are on TV at least twice a week
he's not on the BROOKLYN DOUCHES.
