that right now. They don't know if Spike can play significant minutes and they don't know if he'll have to play significant minutes to stay loose in a game. I love Spike, but Beilein can't indulge in sentimentality.

How can you play 4 passionate years for Michigan and then all of a sudden transfer to an inner conference school and say boiler up? I get that it's michigans fault he transferred, but it still bothers me a little.

His retirement lasted all of a few months. He would still be here if Beilein wanted him.

Instead, we thought hunting for Ivy League players would be a wiser choice than a 5th year senior that we know can play at this level.

We went after a guy that could play two positions, one of which was a position of need. Spike would be our third player at 6' or under. Only two of them were going to get significant minutes. And I'd prefer one of them to be X.

WD you are so, so, so wrong on this.

Good riddance to Spike.  At least he won't be around to take freshmen to Skeeps and quit on the team so he can retain another year of eligibility.  Seriously, Spike is not so adored on campus; he chose to leave this team.  He was not pushed out.

What does it matter how long his retirement was? I assume we wouldn't have held a press conference announcing his retirement if all parties involved didn't think everything was pretty much wrapped up for Spike

Unless you were a part of the behind closed door meeting between Belien and Spike you onlyl have speculation as your foundational argument!  I also do not like that Spike is gone and to another B1G school.  However, I can not be certain of the acutality of  Spike being 'shoved' out the door.  Nor can anyone else.  You might be letting your emotions and loyalties cloud your 'factual' talking points?

I'm just a fan and I could never just switch allegiances like they do. I still have no clue how we don't want him, but Purdue does. It seems his hips are fine, at least according to Purdue. Meanwhile, we have an empty scholarship for next year.

Probably because he wants to play basketball at the highest level he can. College alligence means more to fans than players. Like what if you went to UM for undergrad and OSU's grad school was the best one you got into for your field? Would you not go there because it's OSU?

You obviously were not in Crisler Center to witness Indiana go on a 27-0 run against us this February.

Literally the most horrifying sports thing I've ever seen in person. The MSU miracle win in October was overall worse, but not in terms of abject helplessness.

Another disastrous mistake managing the roster by Beilein.  Who's the next diamond we're going to pluck out of the rough, develop for four years and then ship to a Big Ten rival for his last year (while we do nothing with an empty scholarship I might add)?
