So... who are you cheering for?
Interesting segment on the show before Game Day going through who the Big Ten and PAC teams should cheer for this season (it was funny to watch MSU get roasted), which led to the conversation in my house of who to cheer for this season. I hadn't thought about this for one moment before that segment and now... I need to settle on a (temporary) team. Who are you all going with?

I like Oklahoma. Man it’s sucks not getting to watch Michigan today :(
September 12th, 2020 at 10:56 AM ^
I hate Oklahoma today. To make the season interesting, I decided I am going to do one two-game parlay each Saturday. Today I have ND -21 over Duke, and Missouri State (+47) over Oklahoma. This will make no Big Ten football more enjoyable... :-)

Oklahoma losing can potentially help in our pursuit of Edwards.
September 12th, 2020 at 11:48 PM ^
Ouch. So close!
September 12th, 2020 at 3:04 PM ^
I got OU in this one — for obvious reasons. ?
besides, they’re paying less for their players now than when I was at OU during the Barry Switzer era.

I've thought long and hard about this...
I'm taking Carolina.
Always been my 2nd favorite school. Chapel Hill is Ann Arbor-esqe. I've always liked Carolina.
Also, Texas. Again, the most Michigan-ish school/Ann Arbor-esqe city in the deep south. Plus they have Tarik Black, and he had the worst luck of anyone I've ever seen. He could've been one of the best WRs in school history. He'll be in the NFL.
My mid-major team is Charlotte. I like them because they're new.
Give me UNC, Texas and Charlotte.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:03 AM ^
I lost a lot of respect for UNC with the academic scandal and their response to it.
Texas is interesting and I guess I would like to see Black do well. While I agree he had some bad luck, I also don't think he did himself any favors with his attitude before he left (if the rumors are true). We will see if he takes this opportunity to step up and be the #1 he's capable of.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:19 AM ^
I think it was over for Tarik Black when he got that penalty for flexing against MSU and Harbaugh went crazy on him. He seemed to go into a shell and never came out.
I don't know the rumors, but he and DPJ are two of the biggest would've/should've duos ever.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:37 AM ^
There was chatter around the program that Black wasn't putting in the work and was already thinking he would leave after last year for the NFL. Who knows....easy to speculate when he isn't getting snaps and isn't being productive, impossible to know what was really going on. But he went from our #1 his freshman year to #4 last year. Hope he has a good year at Texas and gets his career back on track.
September 12th, 2020 at 12:38 PM ^
Earlier in that game, Ronnie Bell had a big play down the sideline & flexed Hulk style at no one in particular & not flagged. They weren't taunting anyone, not getting in anyone's face. Just celebrating.

Ragin Cajuns. Met some awesome people from UL Lafayette years ago at DARPA. They cooked a huge crawfish boil for everyone at the event. It was delicious and pretty damn nice of them to do considering all of their other responsibilities going with their self-driving vehicle.
September 12th, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
Lafayette is a cool town. I live in Louisiana and know a lot of folks that went to ULL. My daughter even considered it. But LSU is my backup team. Geaux Tigers!
September 12th, 2020 at 9:47 AM ^
Did Gameday really ponder this? Because that's stupid. I'm not going to temporarily adopt a team to root for this year. I have plenty of teams I hate and joyously root against.
I'll root for you if you're playing Notre Dame but once that's over, I have no use for you unless you're playing another team I hate.
September 12th, 2020 at 9:52 AM ^
It was a more in jest segment, and before it I was in your thought camp, but it actually DID change my mind about it (no idea why - maybe just excited to have football back (somewhat for real) with Game Day being on)...
September 12th, 2020 at 1:01 PM ^
You know jest segments are NOT ALLOWED!
With that, I'm cheering for the cold winter to not affect the orange crop and FCOJ prices to remain low.
September 12th, 2020 at 9:50 AM ^
Would like to see Warren and Schlissel both jettisoned, pronto !!
Now regarding football,... pulling for Duke to upset the Irish !!
September 12th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
Pretty ironic that you mentioned someone that should be jettisoned, pronto.
September 12th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
Not sure how this very obvious schtick isn't considered trolling.
September 12th, 2020 at 9:54 AM ^
Clemson since it’s up to the road.
Hoping ND finishes middle of the pack in the ACC; getting surprised by Duke, handled by UNC, and embarrassed by Clemson.
What a stupid September feeling Saturday.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
Schadenfreude.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:54 AM ^
I hope Clemson does poorly this year if only because it would upset buckeye fans to think they would beat them if there were a season.
September 12th, 2020 at 2:41 PM ^
That is next level trolling. You're playing 3D chess. I like it.
September 12th, 2020 at 9:56 AM ^
I figured since this had been the most surreal year ever, Miami seemed to be the appropriate choice. Go Canes?

Kind of a loaded question but I'll go patriotic and go with Army, Navy and Air Force. I watched the Army-MTU game last week and Army is scary good. They execute that triple option very well.
As far as the major colleges go, no preference at this time. I'll need to see a few teams in action and then decide.
September 12th, 2020 at 11:11 AM ^
I would have loved to see the academies kill it this year... then Navy played BYU.
September 12th, 2020 at 4:18 PM ^
I watched 10 snaps of that game in the early 4th quarter and Navy looked disinterested to tackle. Very, very unlike them.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:04 AM ^
Florida State has been my team B since the Charlie Ward days, so I’ll throw my support behind them, however the Lane Train in Oxford with passengers Chris partridge and DB Sr is very intriguing.

USF. Go Bulls! Got my BA and MBA there. Up and coming research institution (Moffitt Cancer Center is on campus). Moved down here in time for their inaugural football game in 1997, where they won 80-3. Marlon Mack is my most recent favorite Bull.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:09 AM ^
Clemson or Alabama.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:30 AM ^
Might as well root for a team that can win a championship for once.... Seems like a great plan!
People that complain about or refuse to try being bandwagon fans are depriving themselves of a lot of pleasure unnecessarily. Not saying they're wrong, but why not root for a winner every once in a while? ??♂️

I like Matt Campbell quite a bit, so I’ll be pulling for Iowa St.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:26 AM ^
Bear? Is that you?
September 12th, 2020 at 10:10 AM ^
It's a bummer this doesn't feel like a typical, exciting September college football weekend. I love college football but kinda hate most teams out there. And many of them are in states that have done a horrible job handling coronavirus and many of the campuses are currently experiencing bad outbreaks.
I believe football can played this year and it can be done safely. But, it's too early to start the season under the current conditions. So, I'm having trouble getting behind it. Any game with a crowd, I will flat-out refuse to watch.
But, I guess I'll pull for Syracuse and Iowa St. (no fans - but ISU had to be shamed into not having fans).

Easy. J'Marick Woods, who will be lining up across from ND today:
I posted this in another thread. It appears that he may be in their MBA program. If so, great for him.

Notre Dame versus the South, every time.
Army against anyone they play.

Married into a big UGa family, with lots of Bama in the prior generations. Which means down deep inside I want them both to lose (can't think of them being even more insufferable), but I at least have a reason to attach ... and turn on the TV.
Clemson ... love Dabo, have so many family friends whose kids are there / have recently been there. It's a fun story, and they are legit super-excited to be on the mountaintop.
Otherwise, I pretty much hate every team that is not Michigan. I liked Stanford when they didn't steal recruits from us who mattered.
September 12th, 2020 at 10:58 AM ^
Nobody. I only watch Michigan.
September 12th, 2020 at 11:00 AM ^
Nobody. Can't even watch. Call me selfish. I don't care.
College Gameday was depressing today. Turned it on for about 5 minutes.
I've never been so excited to rather watch my girls play soccer than to watch college football. I never thought that would come out of my mouth. 2020
