Quite excited for the upcoming season!
"the do-it-player"
Can decide if I like that or not. It's a typo sure, but does it fit? I think it might.
Maybe when they aren't posting signs about him all over campus. Lol

He is definitely in the top tier of athletes in college with Leanoard Fournette and Christian Mccaffrey, and he has a coaching staff that will put him in the best position to succeed always. On defense, he has maybe the best DC in college football using him as the hybrid space player he was meant to be. And on top of that, he has a head coach who knows how gamechanging an athlete like him on the field can have to an offense, whether it be as a decoy, or as a primary option, Peppers is the most interesting and fun college player in years, when you add in the coaching schemes for him.
I think its definitely debateable as to who will impact games more this upcoming season

Agreed, I love Peppers as much as the next guy, but watching him shred every defense and special teams unit McCaffrey faced... that was amazing. If Stanford doesn't play every game after 10pm last year, he wins the Heisman running away.
But can he play defense?
3,864 yards.
EDIT: my mistake
I think Fournette is the best of tham all, but he's stuck with Cam Cameron and Les Miles running the offfense. I think Fournette would threaten 3,000 yards on the ground at Bama or Michigan this year. He won't get 2,000 running in the world's most boring and predictable offense.
but I think Dalvin Cook is the best back in the country with McCaffery in close 2nd. 2017 NFL RB class is gonna be ridiculously deep. I know a couple of NFL scouts who doesn't have Forunette at #1.

1. Lewis
2. Butt
3. Wormley
4. Chesson
5. Peppers
I didn't read the list, but do I have it right so far?
The Lewis / Peppers debate sort of reminds me of the Yankees of the 90's where people would say "Jeter should win the AL MVP" and then when asked who the best player on the Yankee team was was, the answer was near-unanimously "Mariano Rivera".
Seems like UM fans are "Peppers for Heisman... Lewis for team MVP"
As a Red Sox fan the Yankee player I feared most was Rivera. It wasn't even close. Interestingly enough, Rivera was never voted higher than #9 ('04 & '05). Jeter regularly finished in the top 10.
Yeah, if your team was losing after about the 6th inning, it was OVER. Mo was the best, but the rest of that bullpen was great in its own right.
Rivera was a modern closer. Meaning, he usually only appeared at the beginning of the 9th of save situations. I'm too lazy to veriffy, but he was as tough on LHH and RHH because of that weird frisbee curve that broke in on LHH's. That's what made Bill Mueller's big hits in '04 (regular season fight game and Game 4 ALCS) so spectacular.
Torre used the hell out of his situation BP guys. Burned 'em up. It usually worked.
agreed. ive seen interviews where jeter instantly replied with a simple "mo" when asked to name the most vital and irreplaceable yankee. also heard similar from bernie williams.
jeter drove that engine and acted as the teams rock but riveras sheer dominance allowed them to carry the necessary attitude and edge.
i always enjoyed rooting against the yanks and socks but i certainly respected the play of some of those squads
You nailed it!
This perpetual pessimist is getting damned excited about the 2016 UM defense. Peppers should be a monster in this defensive scheme.
Can't argue with this top 5. Anyone on the list could win the Heisman with the exception of Garrett. Heisman voters hate on defensive players. That being said we all know the formula...
3-5 sacks
3-5 INTs
3-5 Special Teams TDs
1-3 Offensive TDs
Show up to play in every big game and we have our second primarily defensive Heisman winner.
And, we'd have to say goodbye so F that. We need one more year of Jabrill after this one. I think a '97 repeat would see him bolt, degree or not.
he can bolt. I'll finish up his classes for him.
The scary thought is that he would leave with TWO years of eligibility remaining. I wish he'd stay all five years just to terrrorize MSU and OSU.
I actually think he comes back unless he wins the Heisman and or a NC. He did say that he wasn't leaving until he received his degree so heres to hoping that he's short on credits. I'll take his word until he shows me otherwise or he lofts a trophy.
Well said I agree 100%
You'll actually see a better second year than normal due to the extra year of being in the system, never having the need to get rid of habits due to bad coaching. The kid came in as a workout warrior so in addition to his crazy speed, jumping ability, timing, read and react ability second to none, he's probably the strongest 205 lber in cfb. You do rememember the SPARQ QB toss his freshman year, don't you. I thought, "Oh My, someone is going to get hurt."
Let's face it. Jim isn't going to try to talk this young man out of millions of dollars, and we're talking lot of millions if he is only as good as last season, but he will be much better. He also was hurt his freshman season. I am glad he made it through last year injury free.
As much as we'd love to see him come back, the degree talk should be put on the back burner for his young man who will have at least 2 1/2 years worth of credits after the season. I think it's a good idea to come back in his spare time and get the degree for business purposes after he leaves the league, but I'm hoping for a long NFL career as well. Get through 2016 in good health Mr. Peppers and take your money. The talk about staying until he gets his degree is the type of talk you want to hear from a 17 or 18 year old young man. After a few years of maturity, money starts to become real for these young men.
Your window to be "big man on campus" is sooooo small. The money will be there, the college experience won't. Jabrill has reiterated many times how important the degree is to him. I believe he will be the first in his family. And if nothing else he can come back as team captain and usher in our back to back B10 championships. It's gonna be a young team and guys are gonna need some peer role models to show them what it takes to win. Not to mention, how many great players who left early say that they wish they had stayed and fufilled their eligibility? Most of them.
except two words, Phil Hubbard. Damn, that would be a frickin shame and this kid is gold. Selfishly, I want him to come back, and I'm certain he will speak to a lot of people to discuss those things you speak of. Almost all these young men know what a Michigan degree is worth and that is why our team is going to beat a lot of other teams. In addition to talent, our team is very smart. I won't campaign for or against. He'll make the right decision. I know I just can't wait to see what Mr. Brown has waiting for us this season and well, that Harbaugh guy on the other side of the ball for No. 5 as well. Should be Big Fun.
and if Jabrill is a 1st rounder, he should go and take the money. You never know if he'll have a career ending injury.
And he should be.
If he brings Michigan a national championship this year he damn well deserves to go pro.
I'll take 8-4 next year for a championship this year. Not sure who wouldn't.
Woodson left after delivering an NC.
I was never happier.
yep - the funny thing is garrett wont win the heisman but stands a great chance at being drafted #1 (since its typically QB, OT or DL).
another thing - i love peppers game and all he brings to the team but adoree jackson at usc might just have an even better chance at putting up those type all around #s and winning the heisman.
hopefully peppers breaks a few on special teams and gets more O touches so thats not the case though (bc he certainly has the ability)
these type lists are arbitrary in nature and while i could pick several guys id shift around or drop / add, i actually think its a fairly decent top 10
Why yes, they should settle that argument in the CFP.
No, nobody else on that list makes that list in a different position. Except Peppers.
