Shane Morris to wear the famed #7 jersey, J.J. McGrath #46

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

Per twitter. Quite a number for QBs-

Leach

Henson

Henne

And who could forget the great Spencer Brinton?

EDIT: MOAR jersey numbers per twitter. Incoming kicker J.J. McGrath will wear #46. Really great to see a large contingent of local kids coming to Michigan. Morris from DLS, McGrath from Lutheran North, Hockey's Evan Allen from Henry Ford.

Not necessarily, Henne didn't need a backup his freshman through junior year. It was due to injury his senior that Mallet even played. The backup wasn't all that important till the spread was introduced. In the pro set days the backup would usually just see garbage time.

Henne was the backup his freshman year. Gutierrez got injured in fall camp. By the time that he healed, Henne had won the starting role. Henne got injured during the Oregon game and was nursing that injury the rest of the year. Had he not been injured, I'm sure that Mallett would have seen playing time in the 38-0 beating over ND.

A Buckeye friend of mine (I know, but yeah) told me that Morris is not a serious threat to be a great QB at UM because he's unfocused...witness his addiction to Twitter.  So for the last couple of weeks I've followed him on Twitter (he's my second follow after Jon Stewart) and I gotta say that I'm concerned because he seems to be on Twitter 24/7...posting nonsense.  I've stopped following him because it was too depressing...I hope my impression of him is wrong since I kind of agree with my Buckeye friend now.

I would go through the drive through at McDonald's in reverse and then shout my order at the sign. Then I would flirt with the unattractive middle-aged woman at the window. Today, I have an amazing job and a great life. Please calm down.

Man, this is the most idiotic (or ignorant) string of comments I have read in quite a while. Everyone today has a smartphone and sending a tweet takes only a few seconds. Although I think tweeting your every thought and action is stupid, most people do it, especially people with a lot of followers. Doesn't mean he isn't working hard or doing something else. I don't think Morris is wasting his life away sitting at a computer sending tweet after tweet.

But that's 12 minutes he could be studying the playbook! How dare he!!

Back when Navarre, Leach, Henson, Brady, Griese, Henne et all played QB they never spent 12 minutes a day in HS doing social activites - it was only football.  Yep. Yes sir.

I wouldn't be that worried. The kid was a 5 star recruit until mono sidelined him, and he still played some while he was still recovering. He was one of our top recruiters and was a constant presence at games last year (I shook hands with him a few times from the front row).

To me, the most important feature of a QB (other than his arm) is his competitiveness, and Shane has that in spades. Whether it is on the football field, on the recruiting trial, or leading his Land Sharks at The Opening, he always seems to be working his ass off to win.

That was my impression of him all along that he's a competitor and that will be the difference.  I just have a low opinion of Twitter so when I see a guy who's about to go to UM and become a star QB and possible NFL QB I get worried that he's a slacker.  Problem is that when I think back to my summer before Freshman year at UM, all I did was drink beer all day and night on Walloon Lake.

I am only worried about his accuracy and ability to look off his first option - those are his 2 major weaknesses per camps and scouting reports.  (focuses too much on first option and his balls, while thrown hard, dont necessarily go to the right spot)  I could care less if he tweets 150x a day.  There are other kids who play fucking video games 7 hrs a day which idiots like us would never see since its not on twitter.

you are so oooooooold. I hope you dont ever look at Bacari Alexander's during one of his patented tweet blitzes #HALOL. he goes HARD on his tweets, guess we should be worried about him not focusing on coaching.... oh wait we went to the championship game. #GetOffMyInterwebsOldMan
