Schad: Patterson receives new contract extension @ TCU

Submitted by wlubd on
Per his twitter. If true, then FML we're all kinds of screwed. Might actually have to resign self to Hoke or Miles

Hopefully the contract extension was given because DB is expressing interest. As pointed out above, the extension may not have been taken yet. More importantly, even if we do lose Patterson, there are still other candidates on the board. Wasn't there an M plane near Dan Mullen earlier today?

Keep panicking on Harbaugh. But don't panic on the fact that it's down to just Hoke and Miles. Yet.

Someone else already said this another thread, but allure of Mullen was that he would bring Diaz with him.  On the upside, Mullen's offense would work well with the talent we currently have.

per Schad: Chris Peterson isn't headed to Michigan but don't be shocked if he listens to Stanford

Well, Michigan is now a job that no outsiders want to touch because of the factions and what happened to RR.  Spoiled alums, fans and administrators can thank themselves for putting Michigan into this precarious situation....  Now, Les Miles and Brady Hoke are the only two who are a viable option because they would come to Michigan.

First, Michigan couldn't even get an interview from a coach from NW. A Nebraska coach went out of his way to show disinterest in a rumor. The most prized alumnus working turns down the keys to the kingdom. And now an MWC coach might spurn Michigan for Stanford. Stanford!

When will the DB realize what a toxic environment the Michigan coaching job is immersed in?

Or we could look at reality and realize that Fitz wouldn't leave his alma mater for anyone, let alone another Big Ten team, Pelini went to Ohio State (and according to some Nebby fans views OSU as his dream job), and Harbaugh, like, really?  The dude wants to make money and prove that he can coach in the NFL.  He failed as a NFL QB, he probably thinks he can be a great NFL coach.

If he pulls a Hawkins, the folks at Stanford will be a lot more understanding than we would. They just had their first 10-win season since 1992. They aren't exactly used to success, or even invested in their football program. That makes for a safer job and better mental health on the job.

this would depress me....I am glad Harbaugh isn't coming because I thought we would then take a shot at Patterson, but if he signs this.....

Hoke = fail

Miles = crazy fail

Seriously, if we are going to end up with Hoke (whcih I am fine with, actually), can we freking sign him now and try to ssalvage recruiting?  Otherwise, we could be in a situation where Les Miles tells us to take a walk (or worse, comes to M) and Hoke ends up at Stanford.  Then who?

Note to Brandon:  THIS IS NOT CORPORATE AMERICA - YOU NEED TO ADJUST YOUR APPROACH.  THESE THINGS MUST BE DONE QUICKLY.

I don't understand your urgency to signing him so quickly. None of the recruits have decommited. Who are we trying to salvage. Three or four days isn't going to dramitcally change the class but could have a huge effect on who is the coach of this team.

Any word on the date the recruits that were coming Jan 7 weekend were rescheduled to?  I saw they were being rescheduled, but would love to know the date for obvious reasons.  I think we'll have a coach by the middle of next week.

As long as we do, recruiting shouldn't be very different than if we'd had a coach ready when RR got fired.

If a new coach signs tomorrow, which is not happening, he would need upwards of a week to solidify and sign his staff--the staff doesn't immediately start recruiting for us--they don't even know who our commits are. A week from today is the 14th. So signing day is roughly two weeks from the day the coaching staff is in place. So we would have two weeks to 1- solidify and keep our current recruits, and 2- sign another 7 guys (since we have approx 12 committed, but room for 20). Does two weeks--at a maximum- sound like enough time to do that to you?

Between the two, would rather have Hoke, who could as mentioned earlier hire Loeffler and Moeller as offensive coaches, defensive staff could include T. Austin and the fired EMU coach (dude, i am getting old).  Miles looks crazy as a bat.
