Big win OBVIOUSLY, but rushing the court? How about acting like you've been there before (even though we haven't really)? Last year vs. Duke, yes. #15 UConn? I'm not so sure.
I did not make this headline up
Why do you care what the students did?
Mich95 you're so on point. It looks pathetic when we rush the floor when we beat the #15 team in the country...when we were #15 to start the season. It says way more by not rushing the floor, it shows we expect to win and that it's not considered a miracle. /rant
Yeah I'm all for looking like we've been there before but rushing the court is fucking awesome fun and I'd do it in a heart beat against a UCONN team! It's a big win and the students and apparently a dad with a kid are just having fun!
because they represent this great school.
I'm not sure it was that awesome of a win, but as many of you people who care way too much about the decisions of 18 year old boys, there were plenty of recruits there this weekend.
ya they left at halftime. rushing the court was an absolute joke today. holy shit my piss is hot. booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo get the fuck off the court.
they were still there in the second.. and holy shit rushing the court was amazing
Was this supposed to be clever/funny?
Am I excited by the win? Hell yes. At this point I'm geeked about putting anything in the W column with this team and it was even cooler to see us win with Manny and Sims having relatively off days.
But to not consider it a "huge" win isn't arrogance. UConn is ranked 15th and would've dropped even with a win. They've now lost three in a row and depending on how the rest of the year goes they might not be a tournament team either. And think if the tables were turned and an underachieving UConn team upset a 15th ranked Michigan (who was on a losing steak and hadn't beaten any other ranked teams) and their fans rushed the court. It would seem just as odd as what happened today.
UCONN 3 final fours and 2 national championships to our 1 tournament appearance in the last 11 years, yeah that would be the same situation if they were reversed.
When football fans show little emotion, we criticize it. When basketball fans show a ton of emotion, we criticize it. It seems like we're impossible to please.
Considering our fans are absolutely starving for success in basketball these days i'd say a pass for over enthusiasm is warranted. Let them have their fun and stfu.
I guess for recruits that was good but it was pretty lame overall. I agree, pretend like you've been there before.
instead of the word "act."
Not sure what this means, but I'm sure Freud does.
I'm just happy to see the sudent body excited about Michigan basketball again.
It was a big win over a ranked team on a big recruiting weekend. If I was still in school, I'd be on that court too.
UConn is a big enough win to justify rushing the court. I haven't seen Chrisler that jacked up in quite awhile.
last year? vs duke?
this was a UCONN team that isn't going to be ranked next week. a much needed win, but come on, that was a little embarrassing.
I think last year vs. Duke qualifies as quite a while.
Maybe it wasn't the best decision, but the fact is, beating a traditional, national powerhouse like UCONN is still a pretty big deal for the b-ball program. After the years of Ellerbe/Amacker futility, this feels really good. I'd rather see fans that excited about the program, than act like the stereotypical Red Wing fan of the last 10 years.
every time we beat someone that's ranked #15, until we regain our rightful ownership of that spot as bestowed by preseason rankings.
On the broadcast you could see a large man who was wearing a varsity jacket with a "W" on it... Possibly Rogers?
Yea that was Rogers. I saw him and Mike Cox at a party this weekend and he was wearing that jacket
Mike Cox loves to go to parties but he ALWAYS wears a jacket too.
It's not like Michigan basketball has been a joy to watch for much of the season and with so much unfulfilled promise. Against a hyped Big East team, a so-called "power program" and after last year's loss why not just be happy about the student exuberance.
All these comments about "act like you've been there"...same old same old from the brie and chardonnay set in my section at the stadium.
Plus 7 (if I could) to Eck Sentrick's "you in front sit down"
Quit acting like this is your lawn.
Our basketball team, and the fans, have had little to be excited about this year. Who the hell cares if the students want to celebrate on the court?
Beavis is lame. Rushing the court was fun. No need to analyze.
Rushing the court made me disgusted
Bottom line: I don't give a fuck what they do.
It made you disgusted?
To me, what would be disgusting would be if our fans had been taunting/threatening the UConn players after the game. Running to the center of the court and jumping around in celebration is pretty harmless.
Students rushing the court is what makes college sports so superior to the pros.
One of many reasons. I cannot watch more than five minutes of an NBA game before changing the channel (piped-in noise dring the play, wtf?), but I'll watch college ball whenever it's on. Big wins like this are fun to watch. Northwestern beating puirdue, Texas A&M and Auburn almost pulling huge upsets, Syracuse escaping in a hostile environment. Michigan keeping the tournamnet hopes alive. All better than anything the pros can do.
68-63 Wolverines shock #15 Uconn at home.. Great to see our fans "storm" the floor in excitement...see you guys soon...Go-Blue!
Best I've felt in months. I shall not judge.
We are finally back on track. A very successful day in more sport than one deserves a little celebration.
I don't get the 'act like you've been there before' in this situation. I get it when someone scores a touchdown and and he makes an asshat of himself, but this is just different. Let the arena rock!
I was at the game. I was happy. Then I was appalled when we rushed the court. My question is, if you beat the # 15 team in the country and rush the court, are you going to rush the court if we beat MSU?
Think about it. We'd be made fun of to no end. It would be embarassing (as it should have been to everyone today). Show some respect for the university. We are better than the # 15 team in the country. Don't give anyone else the impression that we're worse.
Neg me. We're far better than # 14 in everything. Whoever rushed the court today should have a mandatory assignment to read about the history of michigan sports. this isn't msu.
If we beat MSU, I will run to Ann Arbor from Grand Rapids just to rush the court.
I can understand not thinking that this was a rush-worthy win, but you're seriously appalled that it happened!? Fact is, right now, we're definitely not in the top 15 teams in the country. We're just not. The history of Michigan sports does not in any way make us better now.
I will completely agree with being happy if we beat MSU. But if you run from GR to Ann Arbor for beating MSU, I will be embarrassed as ever. Remember when it used to be normal to beat State? Why would you give them that satisfaction???? I'm a die-hard M fan, but I'm embarrassed that we would rush the court over a win over little brother...
Frankly, no, I don't remember when it was normal to beat MSU without cheating. (Yeah, yeah, neg neg neg... I love the Fab Five as much as anyone, but still.) I'm 21 years old, and while I remember winning a few, I don't remember it being a foregone conclusion. It's been a long time, and they're now a perennially great team.
1. My first thought was of how incredulous I was when the Iowa fans stormed the field after hanging on to win against M; a team that would ultimately finish last in the B10.
2. My second thought was that we didn't rush the court when we beat OSU who were also #15 at the time.
I'm all for the rushing the court when you beat a Top 5 team or after a statement victory (Duke in '08), but overall I think you should act like you've been there before. In this case let's act like we've beaten a Top 15 team before. After all, we were ranked #15 coming into the season.
Its different. UCONN is a perinally dominant team. OSU isn't always at the top. UCONN is one of those programs, like Duke and North Carolina, that when you beat them its huge. Especially when we've had a season like were having. Good game BLUE. And a some "applause" for the fans who rushed.
Also when its that close in the final minutes there's already some adrenaline building up, so I can understand it, and honestly I probably would've gone with the flow if I wasn't in an upper section.
You sound like a freshman who has no sense of michigan basketball history. So are we rushing the court whenever an unranked U-Conn beats us in the future? You're implying HISTORY -- THAT IS MICHIGAN SPORTS!
In no way am I saying it wasn't a great game. It was a great game. It's just embarrassing for our sports' history when we rush the court against a mediocre team -- it implies that we're less than mediocre. (we may be less than mediocre this year, but do we want to express that?) Come on, this is MICHIGAN.
In the lifetime of all the players and most of the fans, UConn has been a better basketball program than Michigan, bud.
This post obviously started by a future Bluehair, someone who will tell you to sit when trying to cheer to show support, and one who otherwise disagree with any portion of fun for students and recruits!
to the Big Dance. Once in the past 11 eleven years :(
Our OOC record was going to be a huge hindrance to getting back this year, requiring us to show better evidence in the B10 than we did last year.
We took a big step back toward the Dance today, both in resume and in likelihood of doing some above-500 damage in the B10.
I took it as much as a season turning point as a win over UCONN.
will act like we've been there when
a) we've actually been there
b) you get that bug out of your ass
STOP HAVING FUN!!!!
When I saw people in my section lining up to rush the court I tried to explain to them that it wasn't a good rushing situation, but once it because clear that people were rushing the court I went along with it. Hey, it was fun. Singing the alma mater on the court will definitely be a good memory.
Technically, we were there before (15th...)
Also, WHERE ARE THE MUPPETS? I demand!!1!! MUPPETS
