As a heads up, it's horrible.

As a heads up, it's horrible. It's streaming so it's about a minute or two behind the live broadcast, not great if you have friends who text you throughout the game. The streams also cut out frequently during the most watched games -- MNF, Saturday night games, NCAA tourney, etc.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Section 224

Go Blue!

Hi/Low

I think this represents how high and low ranked they have been in the poll this season, not where they were on ballots this week.

Malice at the Palace????

Ummmmmmm, hello?

Did the actions of a few fans make the entire Detroit fanbase a "trashy, racist," "moronic prick fanbase"?

Also, the fantastic Oral History from Grantland in case anyone forgot:

Not sure this is correct.

Aren't they only rewarding the students for the Michigan State game?

What happens for Arizona, Wisconsin, and Indiana?

This.

Well said.

Play-in game in same doubleheader as State....

So they will probably have us play early on Thursday to avoid the play-in teams playing the early game after playing Tuesday night. 12:00 or 2:30 is my guess.

If Syracuse or K State win tonight...

We will fall to a 4 probably.

Identical?

Devin Hester is the best kick returner in the history of the NFL. Denard once made an appearance on the kick return team. I'm not sure we can go there yet.

Hardaway

Did he really go 1-9 from 3PT? Did not seem that bad while watching the game.

His ability to drive into the lane stood out to me, at least early on, when the team was struggling to find offense elsewhere.

I'm not sure you can make a

I'm not sure you can make a realistic case that Trout has been "figured out" when his OBP in September is .380.

UZR

If you want to use some advanced fielding statistics, Mike Trout has the second best UZR among CF (11.7). Cabrera has the second worst UZR among 3B (-10.6).

UZR = ultimate zone rating. The number of runs above or below average a fielder is in both range runs and error runs combined.

Defensive metrics and base running is why many sports writers have Trout over Cabrera. Ultimately, I think it comes down to the fact that the Tigers made the playoffs, and the Angels did not.

If the Angels had called Trout up before the end of April, the Angels probably make the playoffs, and Trout ends up with even more ridiculous numbers.

2-2-1?

Why do you need to do 1-1-1?

Right now it's 2-2-1.

Agree with this.

Recent MLaw grad here. Outside of the top schools, there is not much difference. Take the scholarship, or don't go at all (and I would lean toward the latter).

If you do well, after your first year at Wayne State, you can attempt to transfer to a top school like Michigan. But even that is no guarantee as I still have friends that graduated from UM in the past couple years who have yet to find steady employment.

If you've got dreams of working at a large law firm, read this: http://abovethelaw.com/2012/04/nalp-2012-good-news-weve-probably-hit-th…

According to Rothstein...

"Michigan safety Josh Furman has been suspended from the football team and is due in court April 23 to face three misdemeanor counts of domestic violence, assault and battery and illegal entry, court records show."

No felony charges.

Florida

I think you're confused. Florida is 23-9 right now. Winning SEC would make them 25-9, not 31-9. They also ended the regular season on a 3 game losing streak. They're currently a 6 seed in the Bracket Matrix, unlikely to get a 3 I think, but maybe a win over Kentucky would change everything.

Dawson

State could also drop to a 3 because of the impact of the Dawson injury. Obviously, that would be more likely with a loss to Wisconsin.

Who would bump us from the 3 line?

Right now, according to Bracket Matrix, the current 3 seeds are Marquette, Michigan, Baylor, and Georgetown. The 4 seeds are Wisconsin, Indiana, Temple, and Florida State.

Georgetown is in the most danger of getting passed at this point since they are lowest ranked 3 and lost the earliest in their respective tournament. Indiana and Temple are done. That leaves Wisconsin and Florida State to pass us. And I guess if Louisville won the Big East tourney they could move up to a 3.

So in terms of rooting interests today, as bad as this sounds, we root for State, Duke, and Cinci in the Big East final. Or we just beat Ohio.

Clearly Minnesota

Minnesota is who we want to play, but I'd say it is unlikely. NW caught a huge break with Ralph Sampson being sidelined with a knee injury.

Preseason Rankings Say Otherwise

Michigan State was unranked to start the season, while Michigan was ranked #18.

I think the argument you make for Beilein is that he took an unheralded group of players while Tom Izzo won with more star 4/5 star type recruits, not that expectations were so much lower for Michigan.

Vandy in Nashville in Round 2?

Seems unlikely as top 4 seeds are generally protected from having to play early round "road" games. Vandy is located in Nashville, I think.

Iowa RPI

Iowa's RPI is 139 right now (not sure if that is updated with the Wisconsin win last night). They'd need to get that up to 70ish (I think 75 is the worst to ever make it) to have a real shot. Not sure if wins over ILL, Neb, and NW plus a couple BTT wins will do that.

Edit: Not updated for yesterday's win, but the worst RPI in the Big Ten as of yesterday behind Penn St and Nebraska.

#2

I think it's more likely NW beats Ohio in Evanston than Wisconsin winning in Columbus.

But both would be nice.

Indiana

I think it was Indiana. Not positive though.

Edit: Nevermind. Beat them once in 91-92 season.

Here's why it is a discussion...

"Michigan's not going into Selection Sunday on pins and needles, even if they lose out."

Because the writer of this site mentioned it? And commenters are saying that is probably not true. Obviously, we're playing very well, and in the hunt for the Conference title, and no one is saying we are going to lose out. At no point did anyone refuse to say UM is a good team.

Not on bubble now

Clearly, we're not on the bubble now, but losing 5 games in a row to close the season, 6 if we lost the 1st BTT game, and we'd be 19-13 (9-10). That would put us squarely on the bubble.

Burke Blocking Call

I think Burke was still moving there if ever so slightly. A 50/50 call if anything.

hatters gonna hat!

hatters gonna hat!

That would put us 10-8 in conference

1st round loss in BTT would make us 10-9. That should seemingly be enough.

Meaningless

Not sure how it would be meaningless in football, especially if conference champs got an automatic berth to play in a 4, 6 or 8 team playoff. It would actually mean everything.

This

It is mostly about shot selection this year. Last year I think he shot something like 38% from 3. This year he is shooting 27% from 3. Despite this, he is leading the team in 3 point shots attempted by a pretty good margin. He's shooting 55% on 2p fga. Just needs to take better shots and not force so many.

Arkansas

Looks like a solid non-conference team that Michigan could add to their resume. They're 12-3, having just knocked off #16 Miss St.

Hoke's comments were after the arrest

I believe that was before his probation violation hearing. We have not heard anything since he was sentenced to 10 days in jail.

How so?

Hoke probably hasn't had a chance to talk to him since they took him into custody immediately following his probation violation hearing. Or did I miss something?

Howland

Well he took UCLA to 3 final fours. I'd say it has worked out pretty well despite their lack of a ranking at this moment.

Debatable

I think one of the reasons he came out was because so many others stayed in school because of the lockout. He thought he could sneak into the first round, and it probably wasn't that bad of a gamble.

But obviously, the reason so many guys stuck around for an extra year was the uncertainty of the NBA season. Darius had to know this at the time. If there is an NBA season this year, it probably wasn't that bad of a decision. If not, then you might be right.

Maybe you turned it off early...

It happened late, while we were driving down 28-14 I think.

Has this Grantland preview been posted?

Didn't see it anywhere, so feel free to repost so it isn't lost in here.

Next Year

Not a great home schedule, but he kind of had to. Alabama, at ND, at Nebraska, at OSU.

I'm ok with the umass game.

Good time to try FG

We haven't really had many opportunities to kick FGs this year.

Maybe it was just an opportunity to see if Hoke should trust Gibbons in a more crucial situation. Answer is obviously no.

Saying something is

Saying something is "retarded" makes you sound like a 14 year old or someone with an extremely limited vocabularly.

Smith is small, and I would not like him to be a 20+ carry back, but he has done very well with the carries he has seen this year. Good to see him show the same flashes he did his freshmen year.

UNDEFEATED YEAH!!!!

BUT BRIAN, WHERE 2-0!!! STOP COMPLANEING AND SIT BAK AND ENJOY IT!!

Seriously though, that was a really exciting victory, but so were the last two victories over ND. I see no harm in pointing out the very apparent problems with both our offense and our defense.

The worst playcall?

I think that would probably be letting Jeremy Gallon run down the sideline with no one within 20 yards of him.

I think the odds are much greater of Michigan getting a big return (yes, even with our inept kick returners) and setting something up, than going 80 yards in under 30 seconds.

Odoms

Where was Odoms? Injured or buried on the depth chart?

3 times the price?

Noodle dishes are like $8.50.

JV is never going to win MVP...

In 1999, Pedro Martinez went 23-4, 2.07 ERA, 313 SO, .923 WHIP. The next best AL ERA was David Cone's 3.44.

Pedro finished second in the voting that year to Pudge Rodriguez because multiple writers left him off the ballot completely.

Contrast that to this year where Sabathia and Weaver are putting up similar numbers, and Ellsbury, Gonzalez, and Granderson are having phenomenal years, and it's not gonna happen.

Red Sox

The Red Sox are about to follow up their sweep of the Angels by being swept by the Orioles. That's almost as bad as being swept by Seattle.

Wrong link?

Just an FYI, but the "Jim Tressel should resign or be fired" link goes to a picture page about Complementing the Power O for Texas.

Conforth

Took two classes with him. History of Pop Music and a class about counter cultures that I can't remember the name of. He's great.

Also, his hungry ghost story that he tells on the last day of class is pretty inspirational. One of my favorite U of M profs.
