Did anyone else here the crowd chanting it early in the match?
Looks like the Big House isn't alone. |
| 13 weeks 5 days ago | I really like that Brady Hoke |
I really like that Brady Hoke started calling OSU "Ohio" - I initially saw it as an interesting quirk and a way to stir up the rivalty. Although I was pretty indifferent about everyone using Ohio instead of Ohio State, I think it's starting to get out of hand. I know that this article is about M, OSU, and PSU, but was I the only one who reread the first sentence after the block quote because it said Ohio instead of Ohio State? This wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that there really is a school called Ohio, especially when we're talking about a sport where they might actually have a solid program. (Turns out they don't.) I don't have enough points to start a thread anymore, but I think "Ohio" thing is starting to jump the shark when we use it every time we refer to OSU - particularly in a news article and not an opinion piece. It's starting to remind me of the way every RCMB poster will use scUM instead of just UM. Am I alone on this? And this isn't meant as a knock on the OP, but it was a bit confusing. |
| 18 weeks 1 day ago | Another cool story (bro) |
My friends and I were at Harry Buffalo before the game and ran into John Merrill's mom. Didn't want to make it weird and ask why he was suspended, but she was very cool..and actually pretty good looking. Seemed like she was enjoying herself and just volunteered the fact that she was his mom when she saw all of us in Michigan gear.
Not worthy of a thread, but wanted to throw it out there. |

This is quite obviously amazing and the effort is certainly appreciated, so the following questions are more of a Devil's Advocate-like exercise. I don't know what your schedule or the schedules of other MGoReaders is like, but I wonder if it's worth it to do a full, play by play, UFR considering how many basketball games there are and the difference between basketball and football games' style of play. I'm curious as to what your process is in while making this. Do you have to replay each possession? How many times? Does it get really tedious? (Obvious caveats apply for this being the first time.) Would we get 90% of the information and jist with you doing much less work if you were to break the game up into 8 5-minute segments and give your impressions? There could still be links to certain plays and you could still grade the players (and add some info that others have mentioned), but I imagine it's pretty time consuming to explain every single play in detail. At the very least, this type of UFR could be stop-gap until you do more research on Beilein's offense since without more context you might not be able to explain what's really happening (and perhaps what's supposed to happen, making the player grades more valuable). Thoughts from Ace and others? |
| 27 weeks 10 hours ago | One nit to be picked |
In some parts of the diary you have the explanation before the picture, in others you have the explanation after the picture. It's admittedly a nitpick, but is it possible to stay with one? or maybe use a colon or something? Otherwise, it's excellent. Thanks for the insights. |

I'm loving the Mid-Week Metrics posts, but one thought regarding the best and worst plays: Would it be possible to note the play number of each instead of (or in addition to) just ranking them 1 2 3? I'm pretty sure I can find them in the chart, but it's still tought to tell since we don't know what play number they were. It would also be interesting to how the Win Percentage responds to the team's play calling after important plays. |

used to hold the record for most football games hosted by a stadium. It took until 2003 for the record to be broken.
Just sayin |
