Post your OC possibilities

Submitted by PrincetonBlue on

Just post possibilities to replace Borges.  No discussion: just post names and where they come from.  If you are feeling extra generous, you can lay out the whole resume too.

is a serious contender... I would not be happy.

DeBord certainly qualifies as a Michigan Man. He has spent three different stints at Michigan, in different capacities: 1993-99 as offensive line coach and offensive coordinator; 2004-07, as special teams coordinator and offensive coordinator; and 20013-present as a sports administrator. DeBord hasn't been in coaching since the end of the 2012 season, but there is a tremendous grondswell of support right now from prominent men of influence.

I was wondering if they used the time between OSU and now to find a suitable replacement before making a decision on Al. Looks like they did and decided to let Al go.

I would bet that they wouldn't have let Al go without kicking the tires first.

1. I like Bob Stitt he runs the same offense as Washington St Oklahoma St WVU UNC Southern Miss.

2. Tom O'Brian who help make Matt Ryan and Mike Glennon and has head coaching expierence with Boston College and NC State

3. Doug Nussmeier Alabama OC

with option one and three they could become a possible coach in waiting but with Stitt he can get acclamated to big FBS level football take pressure off they young line running backs

who must likley come

1. Scott Loeffler

2. Stan Parrish

3. Mike Deboard

but I think it became something he felt needed after a brutal rushing performance in the bowl game. Borges probably survives if Michigan runs the ball with greater authority in that game.

Whomever is hired needs to run an offense that gives this team an identity. And Hoke might be better off getting an OC and a qb coach. I think Michigan demonstrated against the teams it had the most succesful production against that it operates best out of spread principles in an uptempo style rather than relying on a Wisconsin power game.

I didn't share the outright negativity about Borges as others here have made him the scapegoat for lack of consistent performance.

The problem with getting a new guy is always the transition that his hiring creates. Apparently OL coaching takes a backseat to responsibility for an offense that actually got high production from its quarterback position during the Borges era.

1. Must retire at some point, why not now?

2. Does not need the money - not even the breadwinner in his household!

3. Let's face it, he's already an OC

4. Loves his alma mater

I love how people keep having the delusion on this Board that Tom Brady will ever coach here. What would you rather do, sit around in your 10,000 square foot California beech house playing with your kids and watching your hot ass wife who makes $40 million a year walk around in a swimsuit, or spend all your time in Schembeckler hall dipping with a bunch of fat dudes trying to figure out how to beat Minnesota? Fucking crazy town!

Sorry, I don't have specific names.  There's this conundrum with a young guy who is going to have energy and drive but ultimately wants his own program.  Leaving us needing an OC in (3-5 years??)

For an OC I don't think we need to have any Michigan ties.  Interesting but not required.

I really like Auburn's offense after the brief showing in the NCG.  Its sort of like the spread with placing man-man matchups but having all these misdirections and multiple options for getting the ball to runners without being the dinosaur wishbone.  It seems like an intellectual offense that so many defenses would struggle to matchup with.  To me it symbolizes the genius of Yost who obviously did something nobody had really seen before (yea...he was pre-ESPN if ya know what I mean so he had the advantage of slower information travel!) and thus tradiitonal defenses couldn't handle it.  I obviously don't know the specifics of that...but the record stands to salute its effectiveness.

Seems like a completely new wrinkle on offense without going to basketball on grass type of play.  If you can continuously gash the D for 5-7 yards a play, however that's done, and couple it with an actual defense, thats my type of football.

Perhaps I'm on some type of Malzahn honeymoon buzz or something.  The new OC is going to have to be willing to work hard.  I respected Borges, but never felt like Borges was a charismatic leader (with the classiness we all expect).  If that trait could be woven in to the new OC I will feel quite happy.

Also: if it's a spread guy, cross him off the list. It's going to be a downhill, pro-style guy.

That, combined with my previous post, should narrow it down quite a bit.

decision. He put his neck on the line for Hoke and he will make sure the new OC will be highly regarded. With a new President taking over at Michigan, Brandon is also feeling the heat.

Heiko Yang!

He recently left his lofty post at MGoBlog.

While he had a good relationship with Coach Borges, he made his ideas known to us.

The Michigan athletic department was merely vetting him when he was able to sit one-on-one with Borges.

These things were not coincidental!

Got in late and thought of the obligatory "rich rod" comment.

Did a 'find: rich' and found only 3 hits, first one not coming until well into the second hundred.

We must be taking this issue rather seriously!

(then read the first 20 posts and realized it was simply a different avenue of 'comedy' - I'm assuming the other couple hundred are equally amusing)

Clemsons O.C.- Chad Morris. Seems like a long shot though since considered a candidate for Louisville H.C. Job among other universities. Shramm from Fresno State would be a great O.C. As well

Job Qualifications:

  • Must know how to run a balanced, modern, smash mouth but NFL style offense...proof of top past performance preffered (Groh? Chud?)
  • Must be able to impress and get top flight recruits (Applewhite?)(left field - Griese?)
  • Must not be a slime ball (Kiffen)
  • Must not run same play where you slam the rb in the back of your own tackle 5-7 times a game despite it not working once (no one...err...that was our old guy).
