yeah wow. i wasn't ready for that.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:57 PM ^
Yeah! The play was called Little Brother... I mean Giants
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Delay of fucking game...spartan bob at field judge ignoring the play clock?
September 18th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
That's what I wanted to know! Nobody mentioned it at all, but the clock was 100% at 0 at least a second before they snapped it. Kudos on the gutsy play, but it should have been flagged. Was that not reviewable, or did they just stupidly ignore it?
September 19th, 2010 at 12:09 AM ^
Sparty scored a TD when their WR went out of bounds. The ref's also reviewed the Floyd fumble in the first half, which they ended up with the correct call (Floyd did fumble), but how can they award MSU the ball when the play had been blown dead for an incomplete pass?
September 19th, 2010 at 12:11 AM ^
FWIW, the WR was forced out, so he can come right back in and be allowed to make the first touch.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:20 AM ^
I rewound and watched that play 10 times right after it happened and he was not forced out of bounds.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:30 AM ^
he didnt look forced out but rather it was the easiest route by the receiver, either way, after ND was called for delay of game 2 or 3 times you would think the would be on top of that for something so visible to fans????? plus the clip was terrible and quite a few holdings missed similar to Notre dames missed calls last week. Oh well since they both cant lose i guess this is tied for the 2nd best thing that can happen
September 19th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
forced out at all... he just went around him
September 19th, 2010 at 12:29 AM ^
im curious too --- wasnt this the whole ed hoculi fiasco in the Den-SD game a few seasons ago? that the play was blown dead, so the recovered fumble after being blown dead did not count
September 19th, 2010 at 3:24 AM ^
that was the NFL in college if someone clearly recovers the ball they are awarded possession regardless of weather the play was blown dead.
September 19th, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
Yes
He is right about college, but I'm about 90% sure that the NFL has the same rule. Commentators the first 2 weeks said several times that players are allowed to play through the whistle to recover fumbles that were not ruled fumbles initially. Then replay can overturn the play.
September 19th, 2010 at 5:35 PM ^
The rules were changed in both college and pro the next season after that call to allow reviews in those situations.

The two play clocks on the sides of the msu scoreboards (advertisements) are clearly at 00 as well. The ABC clock isn't wrong.

September 19th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
I saw that. Awful home team clock judge again.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:49 AM ^
Last time I checked, the clock operator in the booth is not the one who throws the penalty flag for delay of game
September 19th, 2010 at 12:06 AM ^
Controversy with a clock to end the game at home against a big rival. Haven't heard this story before...
September 19th, 2010 at 3:54 AM ^
I'm over it. it was a split second difference, maybe it would have been called on ND, maybe not. Maybe it's just karma after ND was given gift after gift by the refs last week. And let's be honest here, that TE would still have scored with 5 extra yards to run.
September 19th, 2010 at 3:41 PM ^
I think the play clock situation calls for a little song...
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
I have to admit, that was pretty cool.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Ballsy
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Kelly's balls were big, but I guess Dantonio's are bigger.
September 23rd, 2010 at 9:01 AM ^
he was having a heart attack?
Most often there are signs before.
THis play could have just been Dan's animal instinct kicking in...
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
I don't like ND but I hate seeing Sparty succeed even more.

September 18th, 2010 at 11:57 PM ^
Yeah. WTF was up with that? What a load of shit.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
I didn't notice that at first but I just saw a replay of it and yeah the ball wasn't snapped for a good second after the play clock ran out.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
Dantonio is a giant dick. I guess he just showed he has the balls to go with it.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
September 19th, 2010 at 12:03 AM ^
...man that was some good shit.
On the other hand, Kelly looks very much a genius in the mold of Charlie W.: misunderstood and not that effective.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
was at 0 before the snap if the clock displayed by ABC was correct... anyone else catch that?
September 18th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
I was kind hoping ND would win, but I am looking forward to the schedenfruede from the domers this week.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
Yep, I think we have a favorite for the Tears of Unfathomable Sadness award.

September 18th, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
I was kinda hoping a giant hole would open up in the ground and swallow both teams...so neither of them gets to win.

September 18th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
dantonio is even a douche to holly rowe.....guess we shouldn't be surprised.
kelly is getting pretty good at that end of the game, 'what the hell just happened', smile.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
I have to admit I was really torn. I really enjoy the suffering of Irish fans, but I'm also tired of little brother running his yap. That call was balls though, we actually got to see the Dantoniobot smile.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:03 AM ^
Dantonio never smiles, he only smirks, because he is a bonafide asshat.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
Great play, great call. Brian Kelly is officially on the hot seat (hahahaha) they will be discussing his buyout numbers tomorrow on sportscenter.
Best part: when they showed the ending on the Iowa/Arizona game - Bob Davie says, "What a great call (giggles)" hahahhaha
