PFF's College Football Midseason All-America Team
PFF has released their College Midseason All-America Team.
It includes 4 Wolverines, Corum, Wilson, Zinter and Sainristil.
More surprised by the omissions namely, Jenkins, Graham and JJ.

I thought they had Graham rated as their #2 DT?
Did they ask the AP voters for advice?
October 11th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
Very odd, given that they have two positions for DL, and each position has a 1st team, 2nd team, 3rd team, and Honorable Mention.
So apparently being their #2 defensive lineman doesn't even warrant a spot anywhere in their top 8. 🤷♂️
October 11th, 2023 at 11:12 PM ^
They apparently have two teams of nerds and they don't speak to each other.
October 11th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
I can't help picturing Mason Graham doing this right now!
October 12th, 2023 at 5:26 AM ^
This dude used to own a bar in Chicago. I went to it for new years once. He had that movie on loop. He seemed like a nice guy who liked to party.
October 12th, 2023 at 8:41 AM ^
My cool story bro: Way back when we lived in Chicago (20 years ago), my wife went to buy some wine from a Binny's in Lincoln Park and this guy (Donald Gibb a.k.a. "Ogre") was there marketing/selling his own wine. She and a friend talked to him a bit about the wine--they said he was a very pleasant guy. And they didn't ask him to say "NEEEEERDS!" which he seemed to appreciate.

Sad what happened to him during the Kumite. Glad JCVD got revenge for him and seemed to turn out ok in the end.
October 12th, 2023 at 8:14 AM ^
(ahem) Michigan is the nerdiest school in the Top 25 and we absolutely think Mason got hosed.
October 12th, 2023 at 9:58 AM ^
Could be because they're basing it on cumulatives? and since Graham missed some time maybe he fell behind?
October 11th, 2023 at 11:42 PM ^
He missed 2 games. Eventually it will come out he's one of the best!
October 12th, 2023 at 11:58 AM ^
Kinda like when Franz was the best defender in the BigTen but was left off the 1st team defensive team.
October 12th, 2023 at 11:58 AM ^
All good with JJ not being mentioned.
Let Williams, Penix, Nix, Ewers, Sanders, Maye, etc. get all the hype.
October 12th, 2023 at 12:29 PM ^
I like the stat about Penix being second in passing yards to Sanders, but only by 15 yards, on 121 fewer dropbacks. So I guess if we want JJ to get honorable mention, we would have to have his dad coach the team and let him throw on nearly every play.
October 12th, 2023 at 2:21 PM ^
probably should come back next year to get 1st team all PFF mid year rating tbh.
October 11th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Hush, you!
NFL: This is Pro Football Focus. They know their stuff. Clearly, Jenkins, Graham and JJ all need another year at Michigan before they'll be ready to play on Sundays.
October 12th, 2023 at 3:33 AM ^
Graham is a true sophomore.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:59 AM ^
Graham needs two more years, then. :)
October 12th, 2023 at 6:21 AM ^
Imagine another year under Herbert. I can and it’s fun as hell.

The "Barwis Effect"
October 11th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
How much would something like this factor in how little those guys play in the 4th quarter?
October 12th, 2023 at 5:55 AM ^
For JJ (and in general offensive skill positions), probably a lot as they just won't have the counting stats.
For D-lineman like Graham or Jenkins, it's surprising. For a position that usually doesn't have many counting stats and where they're grading out great, not sure how they're not on here.
October 11th, 2023 at 11:13 PM ^
This list blows
October 12th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
Wolverines disrespected again! Four names but none have prominent first team mentions.
Same as B1G weekly awards: 26 players named in first six weeks and exactly one Michigan player (Week 5, Josaiah Stewart; no JJ, Wilson, Corum, Graham, et. al.). Makes no sense.
Fuel for continued motivation!
October 11th, 2023 at 11:18 PM ^
That has to be one of the most horribly formatted "lists" of all time.
October 11th, 2023 at 11:21 PM ^
Kool-Aid McKinstry (Alabama CB) also made the All-American name list.
October 11th, 2023 at 11:52 PM ^
Kool!
October 12th, 2023 at 8:15 AM ^
Forget the No Fly Zone, Alabama's defensive backfield is hereby christened as Kool and the Gang.
- or -
Does McKinstry call his NIL money Kool Aid?
October 11th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
Surprised no Xavier Worthy, in the few games I've seen, he looks like a top 10 pick
it's nice to see some Beavers on the list since I have so many dollars going there with 2 kids enrolled. They are now the "second" team I that I root for
Too many Irish on the list- to hell with them
you'd think the #1 defense in the country would have more than just Sainristil
October 11th, 2023 at 11:45 PM ^
Johnson and Moore have been injured. WJ is one of the top 3 CB's in the country on any serious list. Moore is a top 5 safety.
The D-line rotates a bunch due to crazy depth, but at least one of Graham and/or Jenkins would grade out as All-Americans.
This list is dumb.
October 12th, 2023 at 9:57 AM ^
Heavy spending on the beavers? There’s a name for that
October 11th, 2023 at 11:59 PM ^
Irrelevant.
October 12th, 2023 at 12:06 AM ^
There isn't a DT in the country I would take over Mason Graham.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:34 AM ^
The way he played vs Minnesota was akin to Ndamukong Suh vs Texas in the 2009 Big 12 championship game; which is the greatest DT performance I have ever seen at the college level
October 12th, 2023 at 8:29 AM ^
I can never decide between that Suh performance and a game Mike Ruth had for Boston College in the 1980s. I have long since forgotten the opponent, but I still remember a play during crunch time where BC dropped 10 guys into coverage on a pass play, sending only Ruth from the nose, and he got to the QB. Against 5 OL!
Graham is so good already, it is scary to think of what he could be in another year or two.
October 12th, 2023 at 9:53 AM ^
Steve Emtman? Ndamukong Suh? Warren Sapp?
I would have to say Suh was the best college DT i have ever seen. Right up there with Patrick Massey.
October 12th, 2023 at 12:15 AM ^
Three Buckeye OLinemen are cited as All-American team picks? Are you kidding me based on their offensive production. What is the criteria for these choices?
October 12th, 2023 at 12:25 AM ^
Toughness. Defending their school against the world?
October 12th, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
I would just completely ignore any PFF OL grading. Probably their least reliable grading of any position
Ohio State has an abysmal rush game. They're fine in pass pro. Same as it ever was under Day.
October 12th, 2023 at 9:00 AM ^
Yeah and Denzel Burke being first team. Silly. PFF is better than nothing, but my goodness their metrics are out of line with reality in some cases.
October 12th, 2023 at 11:26 AM ^
IMO Burke has played pretty damn well this year. Don't think that is a crazy pick.
October 12th, 2023 at 10:21 AM ^
I saw only two Buckeyes. They're both on the right side and they're RH dominated when they run. Perhaps the other OL are giving up defenders from behind when they run stretch?
October 12th, 2023 at 11:26 AM ^
Re-watched the Maryland game and the RG seems to have targeting trouble on stretch as well.
October 12th, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
Assuming you meant to say that OSU's run game is RH dominant, is the word "dominant" actually a word you want to use when describing OSU's OL?
I mean, 'dominated' is probably more apt... But maybe I'm just failing to understand how tuff they really are?
October 12th, 2023 at 12:49 PM ^
Can both be true? ;-)
October 12th, 2023 at 12:16 AM ^
JJ is not a surprising omission. Like the Heisman, the All-American QB voting is merely for a specific offensive system now: spread offenses that air it out and rack up stats.
It's less about command and more about gawdy numbers. That's why Lincoln Riley's guys win frequently. Large numbers is all they care about with QBs anymore.
October 12th, 2023 at 11:23 AM ^
This is very unfortunately true. They might as well give out the H-Man to the offensive coordinators for the system they employ. If Andre Ware can win the H-Man, then so can Nick Sheridan.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:57 AM ^
After the last 2 years performances, was surprising to see 2 (TWO!!) members of the OSU secondary make the teams
October 12th, 2023 at 12:46 PM ^
Must be a mistake.
Move along...there's nothing to see here.
