I'M beyond thrilled. What an effort.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:36 PM ^
Wish they didn’t give those 3 4th downs that one drive. Run defense could have been a little tighter, but think they were selling out for Dotson. Great stop when most needed, amazing pass rush.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
You definitely had to respect Dotson, and Clifford was a threat to run, too. Great job by them, minimizing the big plays and scores.
November 14th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
They built the defense around being comfortable with the d line handling the run game and it was mostly right
November 13th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
Good performance overall, we didn't have any real breakdowns. The frustrating thing is that PSU went to Dotson twice in a row on 4th down on their one TD drive, and we couldn't stop it.
This team had four difficult road games, and won three of them. Not too shabby.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:43 PM ^
This is key. @PSU @Wisconsin @Nebraska is a hell of a stretch. So close to road perfection. Ill take it!
November 14th, 2021 at 6:07 PM ^
won all four, as far as I'm concerned.
got jobbed in EL
November 13th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
Glorious!
November 13th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
I thought that late fumble was going to be a killer for Michigan. Huge stop by the defense on that.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:41 PM ^
Their resilience amazed me. They make plays. They contained Dotson somewhat. Good Team
November 13th, 2021 at 6:58 PM ^
Dotson had just 61 receiving yards. Contained for sure.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:42 PM ^
Kudos! They gave up 1 TD+2FG+2pt conv. That one hurt since 2 of those hurt them 2 weeks ago. As long as Michigan held PSU under 20 pts, we'd win the game. It was good enough.
GO BLUE!!
November 13th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
Don’t think you can be mad at the defense this game. They did their best given the offense was too busy chasing their tail for 3/4s of the game. Holding any talented team to 17 should be a W in 2021 with remotely competent offense.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:49 PM ^
There’s stuff they could have done better, but they only gave up one TD and when you consider what they were last year this is as good as we could hope for, that one game excepted.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
If Michigan's offense was where we'd all like it to be, we'd all be loving that defensive performance.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:45 PM ^
Scary to think of how good this team would be on the offensive side with a healthy Ronnie Bell together with Corum, Haskins, CJ, AA, and All.
November 13th, 2021 at 5:19 PM ^

The 4th down conversions? 3rd and long conversions? Those things need to be cleaned up
November 14th, 2021 at 8:42 AM ^
Giving up 17 points, on the road, in a conference game, to a ranked opponent is not something you get mad at.
November 14th, 2021 at 8:20 AM ^
"Holding any talented team" while both your edge players are being subjected to uncalled holding penalties on every play is particularly impressive.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
"Let's put D. J. solo on Jahan Dotson, I bet that works out fine" said no one ever -- but the dude pulls it off!
November 13th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
Not as bad as Mike McCray solo on Saquan Barkley!
November 13th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
7 sacks and a great day even if there were a couple busts. Ojabo, man. Hutch. DJ.

Mike Macdonald recruitment:
Harbaugh - Hey Mike, how would you feel about becoming the Defensive Coordinator at Michigan?
Macdonald - Sounds intriguing. What kind of salary would I make?
Harbaugh - I think I could get you somewhere around $1 million.
Macdonald - Nice. What kind of players do you have to work with?
Harbaugh - We have All-American level players in Dax Hill and Aidan Hutchinson; lots of other returning experienced talent and young players like David Ojabo dripping with potential. We also have some versatile pieces like Mikey Barrett. The talent in this…
Macdonald (sharply cuts off Harbaugh) - Shut up, just shut up. You had me at Mikey Barrett.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
Seven sacks! Wow.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
I didn't like how many third and fourth down conversions that we yielded or that we seemingly can't stop the two point conversion.
I did like how the kept us in the game by bringing drives to halt when needed. I liked the pressure and it would have been more effective if they didn't get away with holding on virtually every play.
They got the four and out when push came to shove.
They never quit.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
I've been calling for Moore to play all year, it's clear he knows the game, more than the starters.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
The Defense was everywhere. If Penn State didnt hold over and over the sacks would
have finished Clifford in the 3rd.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:47 PM ^
This comment acknowledges Rod Moore whose heads up play caused the timeout, got us off the field then the PBU on Dotson. That's game changing right there.

November 13th, 2021 at 3:47 PM ^
Hats off to the defense. Felt like they played 60 minutes of regulation time.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:48 PM ^
How many sacks would this defense have had if the refs called holding even half the time? Overwhelming pass rush. Clifford is going to need a long time in the trainer’s room this week.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:49 PM ^
For the most part, defense played good, but Penn State's three fourth down conversions (plus a two point conversion) on their touchdown drive was frustrating to this fan.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Nothing I saw today shows me that Aidan is ready for the NFL. He needs to come back along with Ojabo. /s but seriously, can we clone them?
November 13th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
I agree. They're both terrible at getting through holds. They each need another year of getting through Big Ten officiating.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
Hutch is already a clone. Not sure it’s a good idea to make a copy of a copy!? (Reference Michael Keaton in Multiplicity!)
November 13th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Seems like we took a bend but don't break approach by leaving safeties high all game. Good approach since Dotson is PSUs best player and their best chance to win the game was for Dotson to beat us deep.
This led to alot of light boxes and allowed PSU to rack up some rushing yards, which was somewhat frustrating
Still, once the field shrank in the red zone the defense performed really well.
Great defensive game all around.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Hutchinson and Ojabo were unblockable today. They were getting held on almost every play.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
Ojabo and Hutchinson. Men.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
You mean ‘meh’. They’re Just Guys, who are clearly not ready for the NFL and might have an outside shot if and only if they come back for their senior seasons.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
A victory at PSU on the road is always a good win. (I remember traveling there only to watch some ginger walk on put the nail in RichRod's coffin)
I don't know if this is an offensive, defensive or special teams snowflake though: Why can't we make or stop a 2 point conversion?
November 13th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
Interior wasn’t great and LB play was adequate but the secondary did a very good job on Dotson.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
Frustrating seeing all those sacks wasted on 3rd and long or 4th down conversions. But man, I feel sorry for their QB. What a fucking beat down
November 13th, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
Ha, the announcer on their last play said, boy I don’t like that play. The QB was saying screw it, I’m chucking this out of here before I get hit again
November 14th, 2021 at 8:37 AM ^
That sure seems to be a common theme when we play Penn State over the years. Hackenburg ran to the bench once trying to avoid one more hit/sack on 4th down.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
Outstanding effort led by Hutch and Ojabo. Everyone D Lineman make plays including Jeter & Smith. Ross and Colton made plays. Colson came back to play after being hurt. Hope he is ok. Clifford took a lot of punishment. I hope he is ok for MSU in two weeks.
Turner and Gray did well pretty with Dotson, who is an outstanding player. I am surprised we did not double cover Dotson more, particularly in the 4th quarter.
November 13th, 2021 at 3:55 PM ^
I wonder how many sacks they would have had if holding our DEs was illegal. Hutchinson and Ojabo are unreal.
November 13th, 2021 at 5:00 PM ^
Today I actually saw only one hold live, which to me is the criterion: if I can see the hold on TV, and it isn't called, then the ref is officially a fool. They called it. So I'm not upset about that stuff today. Other games, I can't even remember how many.
November 13th, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
There were some clear holds not being called. They held Upshaw so obviously I yelled about it from the living room into the ether.
Big ten refs are atrocious. Why is there a rule for holding if you aren't going to enforce?

November 13th, 2021 at 8:36 PM ^
Eh, I think you might need your eyes checked then. There was an absolutely obvious one on Upshaw the play before Ojabo's strip sack that even the announcers were calling out live without a replay. Harbaugh was visibly upset. Ojabo was also held and nearly pulled to the ground on that strip sack as well. Call either one of those holds and it pushes PSU out of field goal range before the 52 yard make.
