Except they didn't. The Baltimore Ravens fired him a year after they stole our team.
This is one of those historical errors that keeps getting repeated, even by ESPN, for reasons unknown.
September 8th, 2019 at 10:34 PM ^
Speaking of dismal outcomes, how'd the Browns fare today?

?
I was there. Talk about an emotional let-down. From sky high to rock bottom in 60 minutes.
I think I'm going to rewatch the Michigan-Army game. That'll make me feel better.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:41 PM ^
Another glorious era of Lions success.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
Honestly, this should be the expected outcome of a Cardinals/Loins game.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
Why did they call that timeout? That was just insane. Poor Darrel Bevell - he has the perfect play call anddddd timeout.
I can hardly wait until the day that some team I really care about is a dynasty. Man will that be great....
September 8th, 2019 at 8:50 PM ^
He is the one who wanted the TO.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
Also the dumbass who decided not to give the ball to Beastmode on the goal line during the Superbowl.
Looks promising!
September 8th, 2019 at 8:50 PM ^
Bevell is the one who signaled for the TO.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
Bevell is the one who called it for gods sake.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
even worse he had a brilliant playcall on and negated his own call with a dumb timeout
September 8th, 2019 at 9:10 PM ^
i am not sure but i think maybe stafford audibled that play. i think that is why he was pissed off on the sideline. i thought i read his lips saying "trust me". just a guess though.
September 9th, 2019 at 8:13 AM ^
Looked like maybe they were trying to avoid a delay of game. Play clock was at :01. Snapped about zero - which usually is fine. I thought maybe they thought Stafford wasn't watching the play clock.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:50 PM ^
Should be. Monumental collapse. A debacle.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:53 PM ^
Meanwhile Chase Winovich vs Devin Bush on Sunday Night Football.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Good call, any other notable former Wolverines in that game I should know about??
September 8th, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
TB12 my dude
September 8th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
I was kidding.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
At least Devin got an idea of what this type of dissection is like already.
:(

zach gentry
September 8th, 2019 at 10:28 PM ^
Saw him at the game last week. He was sitting in my section. Seemed like a nice dude.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:53 PM ^
What era?
September 8th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
As a person who has been a Lions fan for nearly 40 years, I think I can speak for everyone...
FUCK THE LIONS
September 8th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
Why would it end so soon? The people couldn’t wait to fire the coach that just took the Lions to the playoffs. We’ve even had our own Fire Caldwell threads. Chatty Patty is a JOKE!
September 8th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
I hope not. I need the mediocrity to last one more season before we can let the bottom fall out for Trevor Lawrence. The Lions have never had a QB on a new rookie contract, that seems like the only way to reset the franchise at this point.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:57 PM ^
I don't understand how people can still care about the Lions.
September 8th, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
They're going 3-12-1, book it. They suck ass.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
6-5-5
September 8th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
I called 3-13
they could end up only winning 1-2 games
September 8th, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
Let’s be honest here. Every lions fan knew he wasn’t going to work out here getting the doors blown off against the jets week 1 last year. He has a look of “oh fuck. What am I doing?” Every time the camera pans to him
under Patricia’s watch the lions have played 2 season openers against horrible teams starting a rookie QB in there first games and have been embarrassed in both.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
This is such a dumb take. Judging a head coach by his first game is just asinine. As if the T.V. cameras can somehow allow a total amateur to evaluate a professional football coach. Look, the Lions suck as a franchise, and Patricia may or may not be a good head coach, but let's stop with the silly takes.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
I knew it when they hired him. Caldwell wasn’t gonna win them a Super Bowl but he is a quality coach
As soon as they announced Patricia I thought “well, fuck. so much for future playoff aspirations.”
September 8th, 2019 at 9:00 PM ^
It was over before it started. Until the Fords sell the franchise, this team is destined to be awful.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
The way the Pats are kicking Steeler ass right now makes me think it doesn't matter what goes on with the Lions or any other team for that matter. Everyone else is playing for SB runner-up.
September 8th, 2019 at 11:52 PM ^
The Lions aren't playing for SB Runner Up
September 8th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
Is it too late to bring back Wayne?
September 8th, 2019 at 9:10 PM ^
Hell, they could exhume Darryl Rogers, and he'd be better than the human meatball sub.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:06 PM ^
I was listening on the radio and turned it off when the Lions went up 24-6 at the start of the 4th, figuring that since the Cardinals had been so inept on offense that even the Lions couldn’t blow this one.
LOL
September 8th, 2019 at 9:18 PM ^
Yup same but was watching it at a friends house. Same typical lions we all know and love.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:07 PM ^
Honestly I think it would be tragic if Quinn went down with the Patricia ship. So far it looks like the young players are doing pretty well. We've drafted better under him than we have in decades, and better than a lot of the NFL.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
Meh. For every Hockenson or Golladay, there's been a Decker or Tabor.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
Nobody bats a thousand, but Decker was an undisputed first-rounder when the Lions got him. He's been mediocre at best in the league, but that wasn't Quinn making some off-the-wall call. Tabor is not defensible, I agree.
September 9th, 2019 at 4:35 PM ^
Decker is no All-Pro, and I'm still mad that Tunsil didn't fall far enough, but he's hardly a major bust.
Rest of the 1st round after Decker:
Keanu Neal, Ryan Kelly, Shaq Lawson, Darron Lee, Will Fuller, Josh Doctson, Laquan Treadwell, William Jackson, Artie Burns, Paxton Lynch, Kenny Clark, Joshua Garnett, Robert Nkemdiche, Vernon Butler, Germain Ifedi.
Not exactly a great list.
Golladay was a great pick. Hand was a great pick. Kerryon was solid. Glasgow, A'shawn Robinson, Tracy Walker were all good value.
Tabor was a terrible pick but Quinn has still been good overall. Last draft before Quinn:
-Tomlinson
-Abdullah
-Carter
-Wright
-Burton
-Diggs
-Robinson
Diggs in the 6th was nice and the rest of the draft was horrible.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:10 PM ^
The WCF has to come off the jersey before any curse can be lifted. It’s worse than Pit Bull.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:20 PM ^
Nothing is worse than pitbull
September 8th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
It's been 17 games! Are you fucking serious?! Lions fans are the worst.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
That was the most Lloyd Carr vs Nebraska 4th quarter ever.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
I turned the game off after some idiot called the "TIME OUT"
September 8th, 2019 at 9:33 PM ^
Patricia should be gone; he seems grossly overwhelmed by this job, and I can't imagine he'll pull out of it any time soon. He also seems like a bit of an asshole and an idiot, which isn't a good look for a guy who isn't winning.
Quinn I'm a bit more sanguine about because he's drafted fine these past couple of years and got some decent FA pickups. This team isn't a Super Bowl contender on paper but they're also better than the way they're coached.
September 8th, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
This is OT
