You do you, Bob.  You can always claim you were drunk when your (long suffering) wife pressured you into resigning to spare WVU further embarrassment and to work on your health.

It sounds like he just wants money at this point.  Pretty sad.  He has to know he's not getting his job back.  Was one of the most beloved WVU sports figures ever, and is now ruining his legacy with every action he takes.

Goes on a radio show and says a bunch of slurs, then a few weeks later blows three times the legal limit in a car full of empty cans (but don't worry, they were just there because he's a "recycling enthusiast), and now this.  Just retire, go to rehab, and fade away already.

I quit my favorite job 20 years ago to go to grad school. Maybe I could pull a Huggins and just show up one day as if I never left.

I'm not a big true crime enthusiast, but this is one lawsuit I would follow with great pleasure.  Give it your best shot, Huggy.  Your kids must be so proud.

When he ‘allegedly’ resigned, I thought it was a rare example of someone “doing the right thing” and taking some accountability. Nope. He’s trying for the Moe Wagner resign.

He probably doesn't remember resigning. Would he have an argument to say his resignation was made while not being "of a sound mind"? "Dude, I was drunk".

Links to the 2 letters the lawyers (1. from Huggins "purported" lawyer, a lawyer that WVU doesn't acknowledge as Huggins' actual legal representative, and 2. from WVU's general counsel) below.

Both of these letters are pretty salty.  One thing I find especially funny ---- when these lawyers write back and forth to each other, and include the wording "we look forward to your response."  The passive-aggressiveness is awesome!

Lol Lewis Brisbois. A bunch of insurance defense hacks. They have two different fonts in the letter. This was the firm that had 200 attorneys recently depart and they leaked years’ worth of racist and sexist emails from two of the lead partners thinking it would make them look bad. Well it made both sides look awful and cost the firm clients.

"Oops. I shouldna said that about retiring. O'course, I shouldna said that other thing either, at least not on the radio, but this one will cost me money. Get me a lawyer. O'course the lawyer will take a chunk but lemme see what I can grab on the way out."

The fact he had a meeting with his players where he said "I'm resigning" and then tried to say he didn't resign feels like evidence why he shouldn't, you know, be coaching basketball players.  Either he's a massive liar who denies reality that everyone else experience OR he was so out of it he has no memory, which isn't great either.

Let me recreate the conversation he just had with his lawyer:

Lawyer: Bob, if you get fired, you will get paid the remaining balance of your contract. If you resign, you get nothing.

Bob: I guess I got fired, then.

In practice, it's not usually that cut and dried - the two sides reach a financial settlement, but the coach is allowed to publicly resign to save face.

It sounds here like he is actually arguing that he should still be employed.
