Anheuser-Busch, one of the nation’s largest brewers, announced Thursday that it will become the “exclusive domestic and craft beer sponsor” of Texas athletics, the Texas Exes alumni association and the AT&T Red River Showdown game against rival Oklahoma.

...

Bud Light will release UT-branded packaging in 16-ounce aluminum bottles and 12-ounce cans in the state of Texas starting Sept. 1.

Should UM sign a deal with Veuve-Clicquot?

Shiner is an underrated brewery. They have some clunkers, but some solid beers for about $ 12-13 for a twelve pack.

It ain't Unibroue or Samuel Smith or a Belge Abbey Ale (Abt 12 or even Duvel) but as a general drinkable beer with a meal, they do pretty well.

The Bruiser Band was a light-hearted assortment of musicians who spoofed several songs back in the 1980s. My post was largely in jest, although I do have fond memories of some of their more clever stuff. From WRIF radio, which used to be good if you were a high schooler in that decade. Dick the Bruiser did a little episode with a MMB sound track once in which he played the baritone sort of to the tune of the chorus of The Victors.

I should have given more details. Apologies.

having lived in TX for a spell..... I can tell you Lone Star was founded by Adolphus Busch......

it is currently owned by Pabst Brewing, as is Strohs, Old Style, Blatz, Old Milwaukee, Olympia, Rainier, Schlitz, etc....  PBR started gobbling up many of those small regional favorite brands as their way of competing with the multi national conglomerates InBev and SABMiller.

for what its worth.

I hate the aluminum bottles.  The wide mouth ones are OK but the long necks are terrible.  They never get cold and are warm in 10 minutes.

We are 5-10 years away from player unions and CBAs in college football/basketball, and possibly even into non-revenue sports.  Nothing like watching 5 and high-4 start recruits get all the NIL while you, as a 3 star or squad player, are still eating ramen out of a cup and studying for finals.

Player strike to follow, then unionization, then CBA, then salary cap.

can't wait.gif

I'd suggest my local favorite for UM athletics, but it would cause a 4th quarter outbreak of violent gas that would fill the stadium with the smell of ass...
