OT: NW 54 pts are the most EVER at Spartan Stadium by an opponent.

Submitted by Drbogue on

I saw the final score and wondered how many times MSU has given up that many points at home? The answer? NEVER!

They've given up > 54 a couple of times to Michigan and Penn State (also Wisconsin, Nebraska, and UCLA) but those were all on the road.

Too bad it was to NW. I think it's time Michigan takes over a new record - score 55 in EL.

I normally believe that once an opponent is beaten, you either end the match or put them out of their misery quickly. Sportsmanship and honor are paramount. However, given the comments and attitude from Dantonio and company the last few years (especially after last year's game)... To hell with 'em. No mercy. No let up. Utter dominance and humiliation - let them know that the natural order has been restored and we will not allow it to be disturbed again.

People are reading too much into these scorelines.  I don't think Harbaugh specifically set out to score 70+ on Rutgers.  If he had, he wouldn't have pulled his starters as early as he did. Rutgers is just terrible.

I don't think he necessarily wants to score a ton on Illinois either, but they're bad enough that I could easily see us topping 50 and possibly 60 points.

As for MSU . . . we'll see.

You write like a boss. I hope Sharty is put away early. Jumped out on by 20+ points and then just gets ran over all afternoon in their home stadium. A very gratifying day it will be. Should shut Dantonio up for awhile. Then Joe Bolden has to bring back the same stake and plant it on mid field right in front of the head coach's end game handshake. That would be wicked fun!!

I think the point differential is secondary. I simply want us to go to EL, win the game by a comfortable margin, and suffer no injuries.

Oh, and if possible, I'd like them to be crushed under our chariot wheels and have their fields sown with salt so that nothing will grow there again. Then Khaleesi should fly on Drogon above their pitiful stadium and incinerate it like the slave masters' ships in the harbor at Meereen.

I don't think that's too much to ask.

If all else fails they'll play dirty.  They literally tried to rip Denard's head off and that was when MSU consistently had the better team.

I want to crush them but I don't want to see players get killed either, and if anything Dantonio encourages barbaric behavior against Michigan.

This is what scares me about playing MSU.  Since Perles at least they have often crossed the line between playing and hitting hard, and playing to injure.  I did not see it last year so much, but so much of MSU's identity is built around beating Michigan that I will not be surprised to see targeting, chop blocks to the knees, and other nonsense.

I'm hoping that Dantonio can keep it classy, but that has not been his mode when his team is not doing well.  It does help that there is an increased focus on player protection these days, but chopping someone's knees isn't even against the rules - it's just a bullshit move.

We'll see.

and I've seen them do this this year multiple times as well.

Can't remember which game it was (Wisky maybe) but I was watching with my daughter and had to back up & freeze the video to show her.  THIS is why I hate MSU so much (more than OSU)

Crippling Peppers or anyone else they can is all they have left; and what should be much to the shame of spartans everytwhere, playing dirty is Dantonio's legacy.

Consider how they went after Denard and Devin, deliberately.  It's no coincidence they were our highest-profile players.

Peppers, Rashan Gary and Jourdan Lewis are all targets.  On offense, Butt and Speight better mind their knees and noggins.

Michigan is traveling to EL play a game.  If MSU realizes they don't have a chance, it'll be less about playing a game and more about taking out as many people as they can.  And if they succeed, they'll be wearing that brutality like a badge of honor.  "Yeah we lost to Michigan by 40, but we ended Peppers' playing career."

I'd like to think that they have gotten cleaner without Narduzzi, but more likely they will play dirty, get penalized, and they won't care.  Thing is, they don't have the personnel to inflict as much damage.  We are more likely to dish it out than to take it.  Also we will not tire in the opening minutes of the third quarter.  Things are different now...

And after we handle them... then they have to face another mauling by OSU... Urban is not going to be caught unprepared this time.

against us, at least as long as I've been alive.  Before the long night began, Michigan's head coaches always had the scout team play extra tough and dirty in the week leading up to the MSU game (kicking, scratching, punching, etc).

Your point is taken though.  I could see them trying to intentionally hurt someone badly.

some here have an obsession (based on the fact we have sucked pre-Harbaugh) and now get  giddy over those teams losing etc

WIN the damn games and everything takes care of itself

Nothing wrong with chatting etc, but gets tiring ...reason I left the Scout board (well one of the reasons)
