OT: Most annoying commercials?

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

depending on the network (ESPN), commercials can get overplayed and cause people to hate them and turn on them really quickly.

Prime example is the Pitbull commercial during the 2011 football season that ESPN played non-stop. Don't even remember what the hell it was for. All I remember from every commercial break was "LET'S......HAVE A REAL GOOD TIME, LET'S HAVE A REAL GOOD TIME".

post the commercials you love to hate. i'm guessing i'll see many mentions of that annoying broad from progressive.

Every commercial with Scott Van Pelt. He is literally in every third commercial on Sling's ESPN channel. Kind of funny the first five times, but after that each replay is a kick to the nuts.

Direct TV. Horrible undertones. Cracked (on YouTube) does a great job of tearing those apart. I'm glad they mentioned that "creepy Rob Lowe" should just be Rob Lowe. Ya know, the guy that filmed having a threeway with a 16yr old girl in Georgia. lol

It was fairly comical & definitely easy on the eyes. I know it wasn't totally unknown but glad someone else here knew about it. I'm not sure if they quit or what but I haven't seen one in a long while. When she popped up in those AT&T spots I remembered how hot I thought she was lol.

but for those of you who remember having to desperately grab for the remote whenever it came on:

Head On. Apply directly to the forehead!

Any goddamn Tony Chachere commercial. Fortunately they're hardly ever on, but the incessant screeching of "TONY CHACHERE!!!" in the most annoying voice in the world absolutely drives me up the wall.

For some reason this commercial has run its course with me and I am done with Jake from State Farm.  Also,  any Sam Bernstein commercial annoy the heck out of me.

I cannot believe no one mentioned the horrendous Fallout Boy tune ESPN abused for every game intro, outro, hype, etc. Not only does it fail to meet a reasonable standard for "melody," the lyrics ("remember meeeeee, for centurieeeeeeees") play to this insane, stupid idea that everything NOW is SO IMPORTANT...as if anyone is going to give a shit about some college football star in 500 years.

The Liberty Mutual commercial where the girl talks about her car named Brad is terrible and it seems like it is on during every commercial break that I catch. For local commercials, there is a car dealership outside of Dayton, Oh called Jeff Schmitt. The owner is in all of his commercials. He makes me want to stuff him in the trunk of one of his crappy used cars and drive it into the river.

for their fish bites from a few years ago? I was so annoyed by that shitty jingle that I wrote them and told them that nobody likes to eat "fishy" fish.

Anheuser Busch anti-microbrew commercial. /end thread

They put out that shitty commercial while they're busy buying up west coast breweries like 10 Barrel and Elysian. I'm a St Louis native, and all I can say is screw those guys.

I swear they picked the one bud light commercial to play every two minutes.

I also am so sick of the Jake from State Farm. God damn that commercial never stops playing for the last 5 years

"Don't just dry clean, no no, go Pro Clean"

If you're familiar with it, I know you sang it in your head. Most annoying commercial from my youth.

My wife makes me mute the TV every time the Comerica commercial comes on where the lady is like "Well, I wouldn't say were rich, but we're comfortable". Drives her bat shit crazy and its on every single break during Tigers games.

The Mazda commericals where they take someone like Bruce Lee,  Frank Lloyd Wright, or the guy that invented mobile phoens and compare it to their shitty brand. Doesn't help that the announcer sounds ridiculously smug and that stupid "Safe and Sound" song is always playing.

Also, nomination for best commerical ever? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4-e4nlfdRI

Anything that starts before the youtube video I want to watch. Also, I like ads about kids, but there is one where a girl talks about growing up in the back seat of the car. All that makes me think about is the back seat is where she lost her virginity.

with all the creepy Flamily members are the worst.

On the funnier side, local ads by Stewart Auto Group of Pataskala are hilarious in a Green Acres sort of way.  Youtube has some if you search for them.

Boren Brothers Dumpsters radio ads are awful...

I really, really hate the Infiniti commercial that's supposed to show how the automatic brake thingy can save your children.  One vignette shows a guy backing out of a space in a completely empty parking lot and yet he can't see the one car coming down the aisle.  His Infiniti saves the day!  (Best part: There's no car in front of him!  He could just go forward!)

The other has a lady who can't see a big fucking yellow school bus rolling down the road and almost backs into it while her daughters look at her like "mom, you almost got us messily killed!" Then Idiot Mom smiles contentedly in silent thanks to the godsend engineers at Infiniti who gave her the peace of mind she needs to continue driving like an ignorant twitmuffin.

So many commercials basically boil down to "Our customers are idiots!  If you're an idiot, you can be one of our customers too!" but this one really takes the cake for putting people behind the wheel who are barely competent to function in society.
