OT: Manning HGH Controversy Deepens; Sly was Indeed Employed in 2011
Many ESPN reporters, ie Mort, instantly "debunked" Al-Jazeera's source Charlie Sly as an intern in 2013 instead of 2011 when Manning was receiving neck treatment from the Guyer Institute.
Well, after all the scrutiny Al-Jazeera's Deborah Davies just released a video containing a verification call to the Guyer Institute a month ago to confirm that Sly was indeed employed for 3 months after October 17th, 2011.
This goes directly against Dr. Guyer's statement saying that Sly was employed in 2013.
Oh snap. (Inserts popcorn.gif here)

Because if you're yelling the rebuttall in an angry voice you simply MUST be telling the truth.....right? I mean - who would lie being that aggressive in their denial?

Have people missed the fact that Sly has already said that the deliveries never happened? There is no story. It doesn't rest on whether he was employed, it rested only on him saying a delivery went to Payton's house--now he says that never happened and that he was testing the reporter. Story over.
Not to mention, Al Jazeera has ZERO credibility as a news organization.

Except Manning himself admitted that his wife got deliveries from Guyer... so...
December 29th, 2015 at 9:36 AM ^
Yes, because he seems so credible in the video where he goes ad hominem right off the bat and the various videos where he brags about supplying low and high level NFL players were all just "tests".

It makes him less so.

Have you watched it? Al Jazeera America seems to be pretty middle of the road news source the times I have watched it. They seem to break stories that others would not. Why they did this report I don't know. The times I have watched it to see what other places are saying about the news, it seemed pretty good.

Several of their own journalists have quit because they slant the coverage while claiming objectivity. And please, no Fox News rejoinders--there are no ex-Fox people, nor ex-CBS/NBC/ABC journalists who claim the same. Al Jeezera exists to influence on behalf of a specific objective--that's fine as long as you state that.

you saw this post and instantly assumed something about my political beliefs, (maybe because said the word Fox) and news watching? Just a guess. You'd likely be wrong, but stereotypes and snap assumptions are powerful temptations, especially on the internet.

Dude recanting because he feels the pressure and scrutiny after telling the truth of his operations to undercover athletes (and his employer unknowingly confirming Al-Jazeera's report of his employment)
or...
Dude completely fabricating things for shits and giggles unknowingly for some reason while his former employer changes their tune on his employment when the cameras are rolling.
I'm more inclined to believe someone tells the truth when the spotlight isn't on him and Guyer is lying their ass off to save their illegal operation.
Then again.. crazier things have happened. Who knows.

I believe it was illegal outside of certain conditions, officially banned in August 2011 and tested for starting 2014.
Edit: nvm it was always an illegal PED, just not specifically catered to in the rules.

if it wasn't tested for, then it was league sanctioned...he broke the rules, but this is a non-story to me

HGH was still a banned substance. This is known because in 2007 Rodney Harrison was suspended for 4 games after being caught by the Feds for knowingly buying HGH due to injury.
Thus Manning using HGH would still be illegal according to NFL rules.
December 29th, 2015 at 2:41 AM ^
pretty sure it was banned, they just didn't test for it.

Especially when it's a star athlete. People/news orgs will be reluctant to report anything negative unless it's about deflating footballs apparently.

The NFL and their lackies at ESPN and SI (that's you Peter King) better look into this with the same Gestapo - Jihad like tactics that they've used against Brady for Deflategate. 2011, still with Indy, probably getting a little somethin somethin from Jimmy (thanks Dad) Irsay's suppliers.

A lot of other players were involved in this allegedly. Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers are the other big names. Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman from baseball too.

Nope. It was the final out of the divisional series in 2011 right around the time of this report.
