OT - How Hot is It? It's So Hot That...

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

I don't know about you guys, but I can take the cold a whole lot better than the heat.   Up north here it was mid-90's where I was and even now at 9:30 has only cooled off to about 75.   It is so hot that the chickens don't want to lay eggs and milk production is dropping too.   The only good thing about the heat is that we've had enough moisture that the corn is looking wonderful.

So the questions are:

1.  How hot is it?  It is so hot that....

2.  What are you doing to beat the heat?

Have a great weekend, and indeed, beat the heat.

The weather out there today is hot and shitty with continued hot and shitty in the afternoon. Tomorrow a chance of continued crappy with a pissy weather front coming down from the north. Basically, it's hotter than a snake's ass in a wagon rut.

This is gonna sound like bragging but I'm on my honeymoon in Costa Rica and it's 80 and breezy :). 35 degrees (latitude) closer to the equator and 35 degrees (Fahrenheit) cooler

Back home in Ohio,  we had some intense summer storms this morning but the heat was OK after,  mid 80s not too humid.

Tomorrow has had heat advisories for a few days now. Pretty sure my dog will demand we head back north once he walks out side. He and I would both take subzero temps over 100 and humid.

I'm in New England right now, and I changed clothes three times today. This shit is amazingly terrible. Looking at the weather forecast, I'm probably going to melt next week.

It is so hot that mark Richt was able to go outside in Michigan; with a sweatshirt of course.

In Austin it's so hot that if you try to do anything physical outdoors between 10am and 10pm you are putting yourself in grave bodily harm.

There's no joke here.  It's fucking hot in Texas.

It's so hot that my lawn mower sent me a cease and desist letter. Its so hot that the hookers in Times Square are all working for bus fare to the beach. Its so hot that the weather girl Rabacked a high temp warning. Its so hot that Dairy Queen is treating us wrong

It's so hot that

I saw the devil outside fanning himself, eating a Popsicle and talking about "I don't know how y'all do it. I'm going back to hell where the weather is reasonable".

Here in Columbia SC it's been 95 or higher all but 3 days this month. It's been 100 or higher 12 days this month. With that, it's been 80% or higher humidity with threats of t-storms. If it does storm it's torrential rain, so it just runs off and then it's worse cuz it's steamy and hot. We've been in drought this whole time too.

It'll be near 100 today, tomorrow, and Monday here in No VA.  And probably all week, too.  Pretty much from May through late Sept, the weather here is hot and humid.  And by humid, I mean dew points in the 70's.  You step outside to the car and sweat.  Cutting the grass brings clouds of dust - my grass-free yard looks like a dust storm in the 1930's when I cut the dirt!  And with the humidity, it sticks to you.  I hate summers here.  HATE them!

But I'll beat it this weekend by pushing the 5 yr old out of his inflatable 5x8 pool that lives on the deck...

Today I'm taking in the 100 degree day we'll have in VA by watch a softball game and chasing it with a baseball game (Lynchburg Hillcats, for those who remember the minor league thread). I wonder if they'll let me use the showers in the locker rooms. But hey, kids got in free from finishing their summer reading thing at the library. And we get free ice cream. And there's fireworks tonight. So I can't really complain about the heat when I'll actually be enjoying myself.

2. Go swimming, otherwise stay inside

The best thing about this heat wave, the first one we've had this summer (except for a random 93 degree day in early May when we were the hottest place in the nation) is that the heat wave came on the heels of the worst windstorm in years, knocking power out for over half the city. Oh, wait: that's the worst thing. This is our third day without electricity thanks to a tree fall on the powerline next door. It's been fun.

It's going to be 106 today in Claremont...would like to take the kids to the beach in Malibu where it will be a more bearable 90 degrees...alas the wife vetoed that idea b/c we have open house tomorrow and she wants to make sure the house is ready...smh.

it has been in the 90's at night and averaging 102° during the day for the last two plus months. I have been down here for nearly twenty years and it has never been this hot. Typically, you could set your watch to 4:00 PM in the summer time a wait for the rain. Has not happen this year. So, it is so hot outside that I yearn for the ability to have my nuts stick to the front porch like Charlie's did in Joe Dirt for some sweet relief! LoL

I have lived in Mississippi for 20 years. We routinely have highs over 90 for three months straight. Most summer days it is about 96 with 95% humidity. It is hot as usual here. I no longer work outside so there is that.

My job dictates walking around in this heat dressed in long dress pants and a dress shirt. If it wasn't for a constant supply of hand towels, I'd be even more disgusting than I already am in this heat.

It's so hot out that my family attempted to climb the sand dunes at Sleeping Bear. Bad idea, my wife puked half way up and my kids just gave up. Not many people made it to Lake Michigan. Most people came back down out of water and feeling sick. Good times!
