OT - Fuck Cancer

Submitted by Cali Wolverine on
Looking for positive vibes, thoughts and prayers today from the board for a fellow Wolverine. As some of you know, my wife has been battling cancer for over 5 years. Unfortunately, we found out that she has developed a brain tumor. She is having the tumor removed today and her surgeon is very optimistic. Fortunately, for us we happen to have one of the best neurosurgeons in the country performing the surgery, and like my wife and I, he of course is a University of Michigan graduate (both undergrad and medical). So we are in good hands. Go Blue! On a side note, I really appreciate this blog. It is an amazing place to find all things Michigan and to get away from the real stresses of everyday life at times and for that I am grateful. EDIT: Our MGoDoctor attacked the cancer with an enthusiasm unknown to Mankind. This Doc is the Harbaugh of neurosurgeons. Doc said surgery went really well, and got the tumor out safely. Hopefully, there are no complications and my wife can get back on her feet quickly to battle the rest of the cancer that has metastasized in her lungs.

Hoping for a successful surgery and positive response to the treatments!  The surgeon's optimism is something to hang your hopes on - most surgeons I know don't adopt that posture unless they mean it.

All the best to your wife, to you, and your family as you endure this.

I hate cancer from the deepest parts of my soul - it's ravaged my family and if I could sacrifice myself today, in exchange for a cure, I'd do it without thinking twice. I give money every year and thank God for the people at City of Hope for saving my Dad's life a few years ago. Best to you and your wife CaliW

Praying for your wife, you and all the family.  After seeing what my wife went through whle I was being treated for prostate cancer, I can say it is really rough on the family members as well.

And to all the guys on this blog, get your prostate checked.  Prostate cancer can be cured, but you have to catch it early.

Hang in there and best wishes to your family.

I am likely to lose my mother in law to cancer within the next 6 months and have lost my father and sister in the last 3 years.  It sucks.

The cure for certain diseases and cancer itself may indeed one day be different variations of cancerous cells.  Until then, the disease is a beast and fuck it.

Father, I thank you for this couple and how they are standing together in this time of uncertainty. I ask that you would bring peace, strength and perseverance as they fight this battle. We ask for wisdom and peace on the medical staff as they treat, operate and assess. Finally we ask for a full healing, cancer eradicated, and recovery to 100%. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Keep fighting, Pastor Jason

Sending positive vibes, thoughts and prayers to your wife, yourself, and your MGoDoctor.

Positive attitude is paramount. Watched (for three very dark years) my Dad successfully battle 25 years ago. Positive attitude was so important. And when it came back last year? Same positive attitude and same positive outcome.

When the well needs to be replenished, surround yourself with the strength of others. That's what we're here for.

Fuck cancer is right.

I'm not a religious person, but I fervently believe that when people know that others have them in their thoughts or prayers, it helps them to be strong.  So know that even if we're all a bunch of semi-anonymous strangers, everyone who has read this post is a real person who has been touched by it, and in one way or another will be thinking about you and hoping for the best. Fuck cancer.

Sending positive vibes in your direction, Cali Wolverine.

As I've lost several relatives and even a dear friend (my age too, just short of 40) to cancer, I too add my voice to those who say, "Fuck cancer".

They say that laughter is the best medicine. While I wouldn't put it above a UM-trained surgeon, there is something important to be said for keeping up the spirits of the patient and her family. Therefore, in that spirit, as well as the spirit of "Fuck Cancer," I offer this, along with all my good wishes:

A man walks into a hotel. As he goes to the front desk, he accidentally bumps into a woman beside him, and his elbow smacks her in the breast. They are both startled and he says, "Ma'am, if your heart is as soft as your breast, I know you'll forgive me."

She replies, "If your dick is as hard as your elbow, I'm in room 1221."

being sent up for a very successful operation and a total eradication of all cancer cells in the name of the LORD and SAVIOR Messiah Jesus. My son had cancer almost 20 years ago as a kid and he is alive and well today, so be always hopeful, your wife is in great hands.
